I arrived there at 10:05AM on a Tuesday. There was no line so I was able to pull up my car into the garage. The entire smog check took roughly 10-15 minutes. The tester wore a mask and gloves, making minimize contact with my vehicle and remain physically distant from me. He also supplied hand sanitizer for your use, if needed. He was also informative telling me that if my car engine (yellow) light comes on, to take it for service and not to his shop. Paid $40 with a credit card and left without any problems. read more

I called ahead and asked if I could come that day for a smog check and he said sure come any time, I show up and try to leave my car and he says he won't do the smog check unless I'm there and he has several ahead of me. I try to leave with the car and have him call back and he says I'll lose my spot in line. Not sure how this guy is still in business. read more

I had to go back to Thao 3 times to finally get my 2000 Toyota Camry passing. There was some communication challenges and some frustration on both sides to figure out what I needed to do to pass. But at the end of the day, Thao's guidance got me the smog certificate I was seeking. I appreciated how diligent he was in scrutinizing the car. I'm sure there are shady smog test centers that will turn a blind eye to certain things. For example, I had a small crack in the air intake boot. He could've easily overlooked it, but he didn't. I was getting a smog check today and called around to several places. This was the cheapest place that I could find for Star certified smog. First impressions really count, no lie but the clarity of the phone and his tone over the phone was very welcoming. There was another place down the street for $3 more in case this place was packed, but when I got there there was no line at all. I arrived around 11 and it started getting packed shortly after. My brother and I got a smog check, $45. The mechanic was a friendly vietnamese man. He was quick and since it was a smog test only station, there was no way he could try to scam me into unnecessary repairs too, not that I think he would. When I need my next smog I'll probably bring my car back here, I was just really happy with the experience because he was just so friendly. Truly made my day :). read more

We went to get a smog test and he promised that the system will automatically update the DMV with the smog result. A couple months later, we did not get our new registration sticker because DMV claimed we have not sent them the smog result yet. We are not happy right now. Update: If you smog your vehicle 90 days before you pay your fees, it will "fall out" of the system. So it's a DMV issue, not theirs. DMV is garbage. read more

Ridiculously fast. I've brought my car in here twice for the DMV Smog Check requirement, on a weekday around noon. The 2nd time, there was a car ahead of me so I asked how long's the wait just in case I wouldn't have enough time during my lunch break. He said just 10 minutes, no prob. I didn't even get through all my Instagram feed updates and he was done with my car. Friendly guy. Not very good in English but hey we were not there for conversation. I have a diesel car and I came without appointment but I had given him a call to ask for the price. Probably during the call he didn't catch the "diesel" part and he quoted $45 ( the actual out of door total cost is $50) When I went there the first thing I did was to confirm the price as per phone call. But I received a vague yes. He took my keys and brought the car inside and then gave bill for estimate of $60 total because he said mine is diesel. I mentioned to him that I had talked to him over phone and I had ditched other shop which was doing this for fifty-five. He was nice enough to knock ten dollar of the total that made it $50 for diesel 2013 Passat smog test. total Time including wait was about 15 minutes. (Saturday 3pm) Also this was my first time in Cali that I got smog test done and there was no extra surcharge for that. Writing longer review since I find people do read Yelp reviews. read more

It was nice to find a shop open on Sundays. The tech/owner was polite and efficient. I was lucky to be the only one there and was done in 15 min. or so, but there was a line when I left. FYI, the shop entrance is on your right as soon as you go through the light on Main at Mihalakas Dr. so go slow through the light. You cannot access the shop from Mihalakas and you may not see his sign at first. The shop is toward the back of the building. read more
