Check ahead before coming as this all volunteer attraction has limited hours. There's ample parking out back and you pass by a garden approaching the entrance on the side.
Indoors are not just taxidermied birds, as this is the home of the Athol Bird and Nature Club, but also other animals from the region, rock and mineral specimens, and even books in a lending library. Our guide was very enthusiastic and like everyone here a dedicated volunteer.
The building wasn't air conditioned throughout and is an old schoolhouse that has charm if not all the modern amenities. There are murals by local artists that show the affection locals have for nature.
