Shawn Miller came to my home on July 8, 2021, and gave a quote to paint my 3-story Victorian. His price was good, but I was going to have to wait until late in the season due to other jobs in front of mine. Summer and fall of 2021 came and went, with no paint, but we were assured we were at the top of the list for Spring of 2022. Due to this assurance, I didn't pursue any other painters because I believed Miller's Painting was going to do it. In June of 2022, Shawn came back for another look at the job, and renewed his quote at the same price. He was scheduled to begin the job on Tuesday, June 28. To be ready for the job to begin, I purchased $1,900 worth of paint, in the quantities Shawn outlined. He texted the morning of the 28th to tell me he had to finish another job and would start the next morning. On Wednesday at 8 a.m., he texted me to say there was something wrong with his pressure washer, and that he was headed to a store to get a part and he would contact me after that. He never reached out on Wednesday, didn't show up Thursday, and has now completely ghosted me. This late in the season, it's almost certainly too late to find a painter for this summer. To his credit, he hadn't yet taken a deposit, and we hadn't yet signed a contract (we were going to do so on day one of the job).
He's well within his right to refuse a job, but be an adult and say the words out loud. Instead, he strung us along for 50 weeks and left us looking at a second summer of not getting this job done.
My experience with Miller's Painting and Staining was beyond disappointing. read more
