The only doctor's office I have ever been to that charges a co-pay for lab work. Never answers the phone. Awful!

Uncertain if everyone there was hit in the head with a rock but...... My first appt. with Tara, she ended up being out sick or something and Tracy Leonard filled in for her, 6 months later (next appt.), I get a call and was told she won't be around and they have to change the appt. The nurse told me I wouldn't be charged for the canceled visit (Really? I hope not....). A week later I get a call to make sure I'm prepared for my televisit? I told the nurse "You and I spoke last week, you canceled the appt. and moved my lab and visit appt. Silence....."Oh......OK". Then my visit rolls around (did my labs previous to the visit). I usually get the call before the televisit, but no. I called the office....voice mail, three times. Received no follow-up, nothing. My records were alo requested. The person requesting them, had to repeatedly make the request due to no response. I called them and Tara Bedard's nurse must've been hit in the head again with the rock from before! It took them forever to finally send the records off. The nurse actually asked me how she should send them? I asked if she was given instructions DUH! I already found a new PCP. Having a few chronic health conditions, I try to surround myself with good, competent medical providers. Princess Anne Family Practice couldn't find water if they fell out of a boat. Stupidity and ignorance doesn't fly in my book when it comes to my health.

I'm on the fence about this SMG location and how to rate it. I've been coming here for probably…read moreabout 6 years as my primary care location but I've had a lot of trouble with continuity here. It started out great but had been pretty lackluster since my PA left 3-4 years ago. Ever since my PA left they've had numerous doctors and others but most leave over the course of a year or so. So I'm in the position of always seeing someone new, someone transient, or a nurse practitioner. I've had no stable PCP. Plus, I'm always being established as a new patient for someone in the office through no fault of my own. I have been asked to come for that new patient appointment a few times but seems they've waived or gone away from that which is good Bc it just results in additional charges when it's not my fault the staff have been leaving and I don't wanna pay for unnecessary visits to establish myself somewhere I've already been coming for years. They have a small onsite lab where you can have bloodwork drawn which is convenient if you're able to sneak in same day as your appointment or early AM but in the past the gals inside did not read all the ordered labs and I had to come twice to have a draw Bc if they weren't all under the same pull request they only read the top one instead of reviewing the entire order. So for fasting labs that is frustrating. Also, I had the NP I was seeing order a HUGE amount of labs and bloodwork last year that were redundant and resulted in almost $1000 in lab work that my insurance did not pay for Bc it wasn't labeled as a well or preventative. Which is annoying Bc, I was clear about wanting ALL the tests available to me, covered under a well visit for a healthy woman with no complaints. So, how did that happen? Also, in the past, I had a doctor who is no longer there bill me for a wellness visit and a normal office visit because she asked me about my obviously injured foot in an air cast while there for a physical and then billed for that saying it wasn't part of a wellness visit. Makes me not want to talk to them or trust them. Recently, I saw Dr. Lo who is new to the practice for my wellness visit and can hopefully be established under her as a long-term patient provided she stays. There is work to be done here for sure on training for staff, paying attention to details, and clarity between doctors but hopefully things are looking up.

Warning- do not trust this practice with your health…read more I have been a patient of this practice for 5 years and everything about them has gone downhill. I have seen two doctors and two physician assistants at this practice, and all of them have since left. This kind of turnover is a huge red flag, and their remaining doctors are just poor quality- no bedside manner, more concerned about billing than about patients' health, etc. Unfortunately, I had an urgent health issue arise before I could establish care with a new practice, so I had to return here for the issue. I am immunocompromised and very rarely leave my house, so naturally I was nervous to go to the doctor's office- this was my first visit to this office since the pandemic began. When I arrived to the office, my information was taken and I was told to have a seat and that the doctor would see me shortly. While in the waiting room, I observed that social distancing was not encouraged, as patients were sitting right next to each other. My temperature was not taken and several pharmaceutical reps entered and remained in the waiting room talking to staff for almost 10 minutes, and their temperature was not taken. There was a coughing patient in the waiting room who was not isolated from the other patients, and she continued to cough for 15 minutes until taken back. She removed her mask several times to use a tissue. The staff was not sanitizing their hands after handling patients credit cards. I also overheard the receptionists talking about a patient by name and making fun of him for feeling uncomfortable giving them his date of birth when requested and making fun of the way he spoke. This all made me very uncomfortable. After waiting 30 minutes, I was told that there had been a mistake with my appointment and the doctor could not see me as I would need a longer time slot appointment for them to be able to bill me properly. I was point blank told that money was important but my health was not. Being immunocompromised, I am furious that I had to risk exposure to a crowded waiting room where basic covid precautions were not being taken, for no reason. I never received a phone call or a message through mychart that my appointment was canceled. Upon leaving, the receptionist told me that she was able to make me an appointment for the end of this month (4 weeks from my original appointment date for an urgent problem). However, an hour later, I received notification of my new appointment through mychart, showing the appointment to be at the end of next month, 9 weeks away. Needless to say, I have canceled that appointment and will never return to this office. To summarize, this practice used to have some good quality practitioners, but I cannot say the same now. The doctors only care about their money, not their patients. The staff is rude and incompetent. Covid precautions taken are minimal and it is scary to be in that office right now. Do yourself a favor, and stay away from this place.

Heard the rude front desk woman check in people that did NOT have a time slot, and I'm still sitting here over an hour and a half later waiting to be seen when three people who came in after me have been seen and already left. When I asked what happened I was lied to and told "they all had appointments". First off. No they ALL didn't. Second. I know the women who went before me had her appt scheduled 10 min after me. I also got there to check in 15 min early! To say I'm frustrated is an understatement and it all had to do with the front woman at check in who wasn't "on it" and checking up to make sure things were running the way they should have been. I used to love this place so much and felt like it was an urgent care we could trust and that was efficient. Now- back to square one in this are where healthcare is mediocre at best. The doctors overall seem nice, but the woman at the front desks attitude needs to go. When I say thank you for checking something and you come back with an attitude and a "mmmHHHmmmm" like you could care less about the people that are sick. Time to find a job you can tolerate.
