I have bought a puppy from Miller Dachshunds this March 2010. I highly recommend Sonja if you are looking for a dachshund. Sonja answered every question that I had and was very quick in responding to my questions. She also updated photos of our little girl until we were able to get her. Unfortunately I did not go to the millers house to see the puppies which was fine with me. I trust Sonja that much and by the way out little girl behaves I know Miller Dachshunds is NOT a backyard breeder. Our little girl Coco is very loveable since day one. When you read about how the Millers spoil their dogs and puppies, you need to know it is the truth, Coco loves to snuggle with us everyday, she is not afraid of anyone. The Millers also trains the puppies to do their business on puppy pads which is very helpful. Coco only had a couple of accidents otherwise she is awesome using the potty pad and even going outside. This appears to be a very bad "backyard breeder" this breeder allows her pups to go to new homes at 6 weeks of age before they have had proper time with the mother for socialization factors. Pups should not be sold until they are around 9 weeks of age to ensure they get the proper socialization from their mother. The pups are sold with only 1 de-worming and buyers are not told about the need to de-worm the pup at a later date. The health guarantee is only 72 hours which is appalling for a breeder. Most reputable breeders offer a 1yr health guarantee against any genetic defects in the dog. The puppy we got through a family member that bought from this place now has roundworms and tapeworms at 12 weeks of age and is getting the proper de-worming after we quickly realized the puppy has tapeworms and roundworms. read more

I got my dog Binka from Sonja at Millerdachshunds. One of the things I really liked about them is that Millerdachshunds is a family-based breeder. This means that the dogs are part of their family. I visited twice and spent a good amount of time with Sonja, my dog Binka, and the other Dachshunds there. All dogs were in amazing shape and very sociable towards people which confirmed me that they are a reputable and ethical breeder. Sonja was very nice and held Binka for some extra time because I was busy finishing my doctoral degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. When I picked her she was already 2.5 months old, I took her to the VCA Vet Clinic in Champaign within 72 hours as stated in the contract to activate the one year warranty. I have had doxies before so I knew that this visit would be vital to check Binka and to set up the booster vaccinations and deworming schedule for her. Everything went fine, Binka was 100% healthy. A regular vet checkup of her feces showed no presence of worms. The veterinary told me that Binka is one of the friendliest doxies she has seen. I am sure that her nice personality comes from her mother, she is such a sweet doxie as well. That genetic component mixed with all the love and care given by the Miller family to her on her initial months certainly made the difference. I was also amazed that she was almost totally potty trained as well. This month I moved to Texas to work as a professor, and of course Binka came with me.. I have kept contact with Sonja, she was very excited about Binka's trip to Texas. I have no doubt to recommend Millerdachshunds. It is true that they are a smaller-size/ family based breeder, but at least in my case that was exactly what I was looking at. I feel good as I have a purebred dog that was raised in a family environment. I enjoy taking care of Binka every day, and feel proud when I see Binka's gentle behavior towards people and other dogs. read more

I also have a dog from Miller Dachshunds. I got our dog Max from Sonja in Feb 09, this year. I gave him to my girlfriend for Valentines Day. I sent them a down payment and waited until a week before Valentines Day, got in my car with my girlfriend and drove 3 hours to get her surprise puppy. It was great Sonja had him waiting for us, when we walked in to her house we were greeted by 4-5 puppys and their own dogs also. All the dogs were very friendly. They are a great breeder, i would recommend them to anyone! I actually plan on getting another puppy from them when they have a litter of dapples. I contacted her about an ad that she had for dachshund puppies and we went from there. She was VERY clear about the vaccination history and supplied the paper work from the vet that did the vaccinations. It stated that he had his first set of shots and deworming, and that he needed all the following shots and deworming. They are very professional at the same time being a quiet home setting. I would not at all call them a "backyard breeder" if anyone has every been to a puppy mill they know what a backyard breeder is, Miller Dachshunds is a very clean, neat, healthy place to buy a puppy. Max was 8.5 weeks old when we got him, he is great with other dogs, we are around other dogs (old/young) on a daily basis. He is great with my 2 year old niece and my 5 year old niece, he loves kids. He was extremely easy to house train. All around the best dog i have ever had, great personality, learns tricks fast, behaves, stops barking when told to, he is even self fed. By that i mean his food dish is always full. I don't know what Michell Ts problem is she must have thrown out the paper work that Sonja gave her with the puppy. Or didn't care to get her new puppy checked out and dewormed. If you can't take care of a new puppy like its a baby then you shouldn't have a dog at all. We purchased a puppy from Miller Dachshunds this March 2010. I had looked everywhere to find the little dachshund puppy that I wanted, I finally found one here. Sonja was great at answering all my questions quickly and thoroughly. All paperwork was given, so we didn't have to worry about anything, because it was all there.
