My father was boating alone on the North river last week, not in a rental boat but his own. He had…read moreanchored up and was fishing. It started raining, so he decided to leave, but could not get his motor started. He ended up pulling anchor and letting the current take him up the river trying to spot somebody to help him. He tried blowing his air horn a few times, but nobody heard or responded and it finally ran out of air. He drifted for quite a while, more than an hour, in heavy rain. When he finally drifted past Mary's he dropped the anchor and began waving his rain coat in the air to get somebody' attention. Somebody from Mary's took a skiff out to him and towed him all the way back to the boat launch on the South river. I am beyond grateful for the way they took care of him. He is in his 70's now, a former Navy guy, and somebody that always knew how to handle himself on the water. When they brought him back, he was cold and tired. I am so glad that the nice people there helped him out. He could have ended up with hypothermia very easily that day. On a side note, my dad and I used to rent boats from Mary's way back in the early 80's...they have been there a very long time and their rates are very reasonable. What impresses me most is how they treat people. They helped my dad out a lot. So much, that I decided I just had to write this review. Whoever it was that helped my Dad, Thank You!

We booked a Sunset Sail, which is a 1.5 hour trip around the bay, and we were glad to be joined by 2 other couples and 1 other pup! (If you're counting, that makes 8 humans and 3 dogs aboard!) You can also book a private trip, which is slightly more expensive of course. Captain Ro and Kaled were a great team and made us feel safe, comfortable, and welcomed. It was a beautiful day to sail (week before Labor Day weekend) and Captain Ro allowed us to climb onto the deck once we killed the engine and were out in the bay. These trips do not guarantee animal sightings but we did see a whole group of seals bobbing their heads out of the water watching us as we sailed on by, which was extremely endearing to see. FYI the crew provides life vests for the pups and you can bring whatever you want to eat/drink aboard to enjoy.

The guys were great with my son and made us both feel welcome. They're both great with kids! I booked 3 hours (more than enough time) and we departed from Scituate at 4pm. In no time, he caught 2 big bluefish, and we ended up with 6. He also had a fun time hauling in lobster pots and driving the boat. We took two lobsters home for dinner, along with some fish. The ride back was awesome as well. I told him, "this is the type of day you'll always remember". I know I will, and that this is going to be something we do for years with Labrador. As they did, patiently, with me, when I came looking for advice on a replacement ocean kayak with greater stability. They have some used kayaks for sale but can facilitate an order for a newer model. Their brands run the gamut, and their advice, from my personal experience, is beyond sound. It is rock-solid excellent. Their Waltham shop can also repair minor and major damage, kayaks and canoes...which is reassuring. Rocks sometimes magically appear out of nowhere...with the expected/unexpected results.
