Miladi Karate has been a blessing for me. The confidence my instructors have in me drives me to fight beyond my previously perceived limitations. I have been a karate student with Miladi since December 2014 and can see myself making karate a life commitment. The senseis I work with are realists which makes their confidence in me very believable. Sensei Miladi is a no BS guy. He expects his students to try their very best. My family has been at Miladi's for about 17 years now. I have no idea where my kids would be without the Sensei who have taught them through the years. Karate to them isn't a sport, a work out or even an activity. It's their life. Karate runs through their veins. One of my sons is a third degree black belt, my other son and daughter are second degree black belts ,and as for myself I am a first degree black belt. We've been with Miladi for 5 years. Yes, it's pricey (that's why I rated it a 4 instead of 5) but we love the people who work here and their unashamed love of the Lord. People complain about contracts, I say read before you sign! There's nothing hidden in their contracts. Why do people think you don't have to abide by contracts when it comes to small businesses? ‍ Sensei is a no nonsense kind of guy. Sign in lobby says QUIET he expects you to be quiet. He expects parents to make siblings behave. In his dojo, he expects kids to do as their told. We live in a society that likes to reject authority so I can see why many have an issue with his style. I for one like it. No I don't like it when it's my son getting the butt chewing but my son knows he deserves it if he gets it and he knows sensei loves his students and will push them to be their best. My son will be testing for black belt this month, he has worked hard for it! read more

I had my son in Miladi 11 years ago, I was a single Mom then and and was on a tight budget, after a year or so of having mixed feelings about Miladi I gave 30 days notice, back then you had to sign a month to month contract and have the money automatically withdrawn for your account. I signed the stop class agreement and we never returned, the following month my account was charged again! I called to explain the mistake, the manager said they had no signed stop agreement, I explained that there was and who I signed it with, waste of time, I had to go in once again and sign another stop lessons agreement. There were 2 additional charges in all. I told the manager that I thought the business was unfair and criminal. Enter 2017, I have 2 boys that want karate, I checked out Miladi to see if it was under new ownership, that would be a no and I have read that they are still up to the same old unfair business practices. read more

We signed up for" month to month" thinking we could stop without any problem if our child became disinterested. We were wrong! Be careful! Management is unorganized and dishonest. We let them know back in Dec. that we were finished and we are still getting billed without refund- and it's April. Billed for services we are not receiving nor wanting. If there were an option to rate Miladi Karate at 0 Stars I woud. At first this place seemed very nice. However, I quickly learned that Miladi Karate epitomizes the difference between DISCIPLINE and RESPECT. Sensei Miladi tries to teach discipline by yelling horribly at the students and even the parents. He even yelled at my 2-year old son who was in the waiting area. My five year old was in classes for only a week and refused to go back after being so excited after we first told him he was going to start karate lessons. In my experience in contact sports, respect and discipline go hand-in-hand. I had no expectation that my kids would learn discipline at Miladi because they have no sense of respect, not to mention customer service; hence, I pulled them out after the 2 trial lessons. Unfortunately, I signed a month-to-month contract and even before their first paid lesson began they refused to cancel the contract and required me to pay. They hide behind "California Law" and threatened collections as well. I feel bad for people who get locked into Miladi's 1-year contract and decided it wasn't for them. After speaking to other parents who left I know I am not the only one who was treated this way. There are other, better options available in the Yuba City/Marysville area. I recommend to anyone to try a few lessons before allowing themselves to be blindly entered into a contract. read more
