This Michelin star restaurant is a real treat in Monterosso. The seafood is as fresh as it gets. We got the catch of the day, which was sea bass, baked whole with potatoes, olives and pine nuts. They bring it to your table on a large platter and then skin and debone the fish right there. It was absolutely delicious, the fish just melts in your mouth. I can't say that I've had better fish anywhere else! For dessert we had puff pastry filled with lemon cream. It's served warm and was absolutely divine. To finish off they serve you lemoncino with lemon cookies. It's these little touches coupled with great food and exceptional service that makes it such an incredible experience!! read more

This was by far our best meal of many during a week in Cinque Terre. The food was amazing and the staff was friendly and patient with our limited Italian. We started with the selection of anchovies. With seven different preparations, it was a brilliant display of the range of the little fish. If you've only ever had them salted and canned, you have no idea how good they can be. Next I had the gnocchi with clams and zucchini and my wife had the spaghetti with lobster. Both were delicious and cooked perfectly. For desert we had all local lemon dishes: puff pastry with lemon cream and lemon sorbet. A perfect end to the perfect Ligurian meal. But that wasn't the end! We made sure to get the pasta dishes which comes covered in pizza dough. The waiter flames them up tableside so it cooks the dough, so you enjoy eating it with your pasta. We were not sure if the higher end, more exclusive restaurant Miky, in 5 Terre turistica area, would be worth it necessarily. We were able to get an outdoor table and we can report that the food was outstanding. Better yet, the service, particularly a waiter named Gianluca, was OUTSTANDING. Gianluca has a terrific sense of how and when to interact. We also observed him liaising with a Spanish couple dining next to us. He has a calm friendly personality and a good sense of humor. We recommend Miky in Monterosso to visitors for a quality meal and experience, ESPECIALLY if you're lucky to find that Gianluca is on duty. read more

Miky was worth every penny!!! We made a reservation to be safe, got to the restaurant about 15 minutes prior to our reserved time and were welcomed in by one of the chef's wife to our table. From the very beginning, we were treated so well. Dinner started with a complimentary glass of champagne. We ordered the scallops for appetizer, sea bass ravioli and pesto gnocchi for pasta followed by duck and pork stomach entrees. Finished with tiramisu for dessert. We had a bottle of the house white wine which was amazing. Dinner concluded with a complimentary plate of meringue and limoncello shots. The bill was our highest yet after a tour of Rome and Florence but well worth it. The Michelin rating is what drove us here and I'm glad we did. GO HERE!!! The wait staff was amazing. The other chef's wife kept coming around and checking on us. She actually took our order in the beginning and chased us as we were leaving to wish us a happy rest of our holiday. The absolute worst service we've had in Italy! Our waiter got upset that we didn't want to order lunch but just drinks (even though we ordered a bottle of wine), olives and lemon sorbet. We actually saw him end his shift and leave without cashing us out, letting us know that we would have a different waitress, etc. We heard someone talk about the pasta being good so we decided to order the pesto and were very disappointed. It was over cooked and flavorless. When my mom asked for some olive oil for her bread (that they bring you without asking but also charge for) the waitress said "we don't do that, it's a touristy thing". This was a turnoff as she had bottles of vinegar and oil sitting right behind her. We won't be back! read more

I ordered the tuna steak, and it was hands-down the best tuna I've ever eaten in my life. Based on a recommendation from Rick Steves, we ordered the dessert sampler (not listed on the dessert menu). It included 4 desserts: a pineapple crème brûlée, lemon crème pastry, pistachio pudding, and chocolate mousse. Even if you just go for dessert, you HAVE to get this!!! Located in the "new" area of Monterosso, Restorante Miky sets itself apart by offering excellent food and service in an upscale ambience. Our table provided ample space and was very comfortable. Our wait staff was delightful. They cheerfully answered our many questions and allowed changes to their menu. We had spaghetti with seafood, seafood risotto, caprese salad, and sea bass ravioli. We recently visited Monterosso and our dinner at Miky was the best meal we had in Italy I can say easily. We wandered in off the street and didn't realize we should have probably had reservations, but they were accommodating, and the services was second to none. We started off with a cheese plate, followed by a grilled calamari for me, and my partner had the swordfish. The cheese plate was lovely, and both of our mains were cooked perfectly. We finished off with a tiramisu which I can honestly say was the best one I have ever eaten. I would, and will return here. read more

We were in Italy for 16 days and our dinner at Restaurant Miky was our favorite overall experience in atmosphere, food quality and service. It is a little more expensive than a casual dinner, but it was worth it! We had the meat plate appetizer and it had 5 - 6 different types of meats, the gnocchi with pesto, the calamari and the mousse/crème brulee for dessert. We hardly ever ordered dessert but after the dinner was so good, we had to try them both and they did not disappoint. With all of that food plus a bottle of chianti, our bill was about 124 euros. Highly recommend making a reservation as they're pretty popular (and don't confuse it with Cantina Miky, which is far more casual and no where near as good). read more

What a great place. Right on the beach in new town Monterosso. I had fallen asleep after a long day hiking the Cinque Terre. By the time I woke up, it was nearly midnight. No restaurants were open. Celebrated my 22nd birthday here. I don't even like seafood, and it was hands down the best dinner I had for the 10 days I visited Italy. I had the gnocchi, and my family had the anchovies, spaghetti and risotto. My gnocchi was perfect...it melted in my mouth and the pine nuts were a great touch. The best meal we had in Italy. Nothing else comes close. We did 15 days in Italy. The food in Roma was fantastic. Never had a bad meal. But this was a step above. We had the flan for an appetizer. A 40 EUR bottle of GREAT local wine. My wife had the flaming ravioli (a very popular dish), I had seafood Gnocci. Serving size was perfect so that we could enjoy a dessert. Had the Creme Brulee, Italian version to share. All of this for 110 Eur. It would easily be 3 times that in Manhattan. We have been all over the world. This ranks at the top of our meals. Staff here are extremely nice and speaks English very well. First night we came, we were full from a late dinner so we only had room for a pasta. My boyfriend ordered the spaghetti with anchovies. Restaurant was busy so we reserved a table for next day at 8:30 PM, considering whole day activity we had to do. Next day we arrive at the restaurant at 8:30 PM and asked to check for reservation we had done a day earlier. Now the conversation goes like this I asked my wife to go and check for our table at 8:30 when me and my friends we standing outside. She got a response from manager stating we actually had reserved the table at 8:00 PM and we are late. Then the manager asked us to wait, which we did for next 15 mins. After that, I went in to check out the status inside and the has the fun thing with the manager. Me - excuse me, we had a reservation at 8:30 in the name of A. Manager - you had a reservation at 8 and you are law. Wait for few more time while I am looking for a table. Me - I remember I had booked for a table at 8:30 and it's almost 9:00 and we are still waiting for a table. Please check if you have anything available. Disappointing and over-rated...don't bother! We arrived with a reservation and bottle of wine in hand from the enoteca down the street. We were seated at a table that wasn't finished being set, and it was awkward trying to read the oversized menu while the staff kept reaching over us to set silverware, plates, etc. The hostess tossed our bottle of wine off to a shelf on the side without saying anything. When the waiter arrived, we asked about opening our wine and learned that wasn't possible even with a fee. Then, the wine we selected off their bottle list wasn't even available, and their suggestion was a bottle for 30 euros more. Not a great start. We ordered a few things to share, which they plated to split. The calamari and gnocchi were fine, the octopus and ravioli were not good...and that flaming pizza dough over the top is a joke. The whole cooked fish was deboned at the table and then split messy onto two plates (even though we told them it wasn't necessary to). The fish was really bland so we asked for some lemon which took several minutes. Another server stopped over to ask how it was. I let them know it was just okay...no effort to help make an improvement and he just walked away. We skipped dessert/coffee, and had to ask for the bill twice. Good Food, Horrible service. First, there is no hostess, so everyone waits outside wondering when someone is going to greet them to put their name in or check in for a reservation. To be fair, we had a reservation at 9:00 and were seated by 9:15. But that's where the efficiency ended. We ordered two courses and by 10:15 we still did not have our first course. The waitress did not check on us for the entire hour, not even for drinks. She was surprised when she asked "how was your first course" and we replied that it never came. Eventually the food came and it was good, but nothing special for the price. We've definitely had better dinners in Cinque Terre for less. Lastly, we explained that we had to catch our train back to Manarola and needed the check. We had to ask 3 times before it finally came. Mistakes happen, and I sympathize with that on a busy night.
