I had a horrible experience with an older grey-haired man working behind the counter. I'd always heard he was rude, but never experienced it myself until now. The Tea: I popped in to grab some ice cream during this crazy heat wave, along with a few other small items. I decided to pay for everything with my card as most places aren't accepting cash right now. He took the card from me to insert it into the credit card machine. He turned the machine around so that the card was facing me and said nothing. Since he didn't say anything, I assumed that he was returning the card to me but just didn't want to touch it again due to COVID. I pulled my card out & he immediately started yelling at me for doing so, because he'd actually turned the machine around so I could type my pin number in. This was an honest mistake, as again he'd said absolutely nothing when turning my card back towards me. The yelling was 100% uncalled for and super disrespectful. I was shocked at how much anger came out of his mouth over something that took less than 5 minutes to fix. That is not the way you treat costumers. In hindsight, I guess I should've known he didn't care about COVID considering he had no mask on.... (Yikes) The items here are overpriced, and in combination with his ongoing nasty attitude towards his customers and carelessness regarding the pandemic, there's really no reason to come here. I'd advise giving your business to another liquor store like Charlie's Market a few blocks down near 39th, or Lucca's at Irving and 20th. Or heck, even Safeway! Just not this place. If Yelp allowed me to give less than one star, I would.
