They have a great lunch counter in the back with soups, salads and wraps and sandwiches. I didn't get to try them this time but I will be back to give it a go next time. The pastries looked great still haven't tried mine yet as it's to early to start diving in to the sweets but they had some great options. I would return here as it's super close to me

I bought 3 croisants and a packet of crepes and asked if he usually had baguettes, as I recalled he had. He said yes, but because of the holiday they had sold out early. I thanked him and on my way out he handed me a baguette. I said "what is this?" He said he had put it aside to take home himself but gave it to me instead and said it was free of charge, and then he walked in the back. I was dumbfounded. I have never met such a generous shop-owner in my life, who truly cares about his clients satisfaction. Thank you kind owner of this bakery. You deserve all the wonderful things in life! Plus your pastries and bread were excellent. Thank you!

There was only one lady server behind the counter and she was fast, efficient and very pleasant to deal. We ordered a stuffed bacon and cheese baguette for eat-in and a chai latte. Superwoman was kind enough to ask us if it needs to be heated up in the oven which we gladly appreciated. There are lots of very appetizing looking croissants that I will have to try next time. There is one common table to seat 10 which was convenient. The baguette was soft, warm and delicious. The tea was heavily loaded with cinnamon with lots of foam on top. I like the sign inside, at the entrance that no dogs are allowed at the bakery. Guess what? There was one customer eating at the common table with a dog at her feet. I have a dog but I will never bring my dog to a food establishment with or without a sign to keep pets out of respect for hygiene, customer safety and regulatory compliance. While the restaurant deserves a 5 star, I have to deduct a star for not enforcing rules that are being infringed.

They offer a variety of heavenly treats such as brownies, cookies, macarons and mostly known for their boule a beurre (butter balls) which is a quite unique concept. The place is absolutely adorable and so inviting from the entrance, with the flowers hanging from the ceiling, to the store layout and the bathroom. Every detail is well thought out and so satisfying to the eyes. Let's not think about calories for a moment ;-) I ordered 3 boules aux beurre: Red Velvet, Hazelnut/ Nutella & Celebration. All were tasty and quite rich so if you are ordering more than 1 make sure to share the joy. Staff was really friendly and helpful. If you're in the area, check them out.

The place is ADORABLE and the treats and sweets are as buttery and delicious as they can be. The boule a beurre is for me, a throwback to a childhood treat, as buttery and decadent as can be. The staff is super nice and friendly, they are dog-friendly too - at this point my dog loves coming here as much as I do, as he always gets some of their amazing dog treats. The chocolatine (or pain au chocolat for French native speakers) is by far, and hands down the best I had in my 4 years in Montreal.

What a wonderful experience I had at this Pâtisserie Mahrousé's downtown Montreal Rue de Montagne…read morelocation! We stopped by to pick up something for my trip back home to New York. While this storefront located in the middle of office buildings, when you walk inside the absolutely beautiful decorations remove you from the urban hustle and bustle. The other Pâtisserie Mahrousé location is the original, dating back to 1970 when it was started by a Syrian pastry chef. Was eager to try their fatayer, savory pastries. Surprised to learn that they didn't sell here single, individual Fatayers, I was extremely happy the super friendly staff allowed me to mix and match to make it a pack of 6! (My choice of Fatayers included the delicious Tomato with Olives, Spinach, Cheese and round Za'atar!) Before pulling away, my brother and his wife decided to join me inside. The welcoming people behind Pâtisserie Mahrousé's counter encouragingly offered us tastings of their delicious sweets. One was a Kunafeh sweet cheese pastry, another similar to a nut filled Baklava. Their mouthwatering sweet treat selection was impressive. (Note - Many traditionally incorporate pistachios, on trend since as I've repeatedly noted "Pistachio is the new Hazelnut!") We were able to truly relax in Pâtisserie Mahrousé's comfortable window seating with brass tables facing the well designed interior instead of the modern surroundings. An effective, well thought out layout! While my brother ordered an espresso, I tried their flavorful, thick Arabic coffee. It achieved an unanticipated moment of zen for us all! Would recommend here for anybody interested in a delightful sweet or savory bite! Looking forward to my next time in Montreal when I plan on making the original Pâtisserie Mahrousé location a stop on my trip!

The Long Version: My husband and I were flaking in our hotel room after walking around all day (15km). I then had a hankering for some dessert. I did a quick search online and found this Middle Eastern bakery only 400m from our hotel room. So we headed there. The bakery is very pretty. I loved the chandeliers and painted walls and ceiling. There's a limited amount of seating, but we planned on bringing it back to our hotel anyway. Upon entering we were offered a small sample of their cream kunafe with shredded phyllo. It was very tasty. I debated getting a large piece of it, but decided to stick with my original plan which was a piece of their cheese kunafe. It was $8.50. I got it heated up. Unfortunately by the time we got back to the hotel it had cooled down a bit and the cheese wasn't as pully, lol. So my cheese pull photos are not as impressive :( Nonetheless, the kunafe was delicious. I think it would have been even better had we eaten it there. Next time! Review #74 (2025)
