Like so many other women I will be forever grateful for Laurice (& Bill). I had my first child in December 2017 which ended in an emergency c-section. While I am so blessed that my daughter and I are both healthy and happy, my husband and I knew there had to be a better option for us and the experience of birth. A friend told me about Laurice, and once we met her my husband and I both knew that we wanted Laurice to be the one providing our care, guiding us through the process, and catching our baby. Our entire experience with Laurice was nothing short of incredible - the genuine care for mother, baby AND father, the knowledge that she has and desires to share, the around the clock availability, and the ability to lovingly shut down any fears about giving birth and build you up with truth that you created to do this! My labor was like any other woman's - it had its own unique challenges - but with my husband, Laurice, and my doula's support I made it through each surge and push with confidence knowing that I was created to bring this life into the world naturally! On August 27, 2020 our precious boy was born in our home. My husband and I grew so much closer to one another through this labor and baby's birth, and I am grateful that Laurice encourages the connection between husband and wife during the birth because that's how this all started! We are blessed to now consider Laurice and Bill family and couldn't sing their praises enough!

If you are considering this practice for your Home Birth Experience, you've FOUND THE PLACE! I can promise you that. Bill and Laurice are amazing and passionate on what they do. If home birth is what you really really want, they are willing to work it out with you. I remember coming to them at roughly 33 weeks gestation and they took me even though they were booked. This was my first Home Birth Experience and I like I'll definitely do it all over again. With my last experience of having two babies In a hospital setting with Epidurals and Pitocin, I can definitely relate to anything. Especially having the doctors decide what I should do during my labor. With Laurice it was a complete opposite, she is there when I needed her. She treated me as if I am a family member. I still remember her giving me a forehead kiss when leaving my home after a home visit. Lovely! My Labor lasted for a total of 4 hours, crazy since it was my third birth! Laurice was there since the start and arrived within minutes of me notifying her I was IN LABOR. She immediately assisted me in the birthing pool, to the bathroom, to the bed, everywhere I went ... she was there to make sure I was doing good! I had the opportunity to give birth inside the birthing pool and it was a definitely beautiful moment. I always dreamed and envisioned myself having a baby inside a pool and thanks to Midwives and Associates, I had the opportunity. For my two days postpartum home visit, Laurice surprised me with home made oatmeal raisin cookies along with Shea Milk home made soap. Those cookies were amazing and the soap is great! If you are reading this, please consider a home birth experience. You can do it !!! Ignore that fear that you may have and go for it. We, woman's, are made to do this naturally. If one can do it, so can you. Google only allows me to rate them 5 stars, but if I had the chance I'll rate them with over 100 !!! I'm 5 weeks postpartum, and I know I have Laurice who I can call and ask any questions I may have. And a midwife who is always willing to visit me if needed. Thank you so much Laurice and Bill. You guys are the best !!

Let me just say the absolute best decision we made during this pregnancy was when we switched from obgyn care to midwifery care! Having a home/water birth was night and day difference from a hospital birth. From the prenatal care, to the birth, to the postpartum care/experience, our midwife Laurice and doula Natalie have been amazing and I have zero regrets and my husband would agree! Laurice and her husband Bill made us feel like family, we were not just another "patient". If I needed anything, day or night they were a phone call away and very responsive! We couldn't be more pleased and we feel so blessed and so thankful to God we found them and went this route. We are not having anymore kids, but if we did, we would absolutely do this all over again!

There is not one negative thing that I can say about the care, love and attention that I received during my prenatal stage, the birth of my son and the aftercare received by Laurice (and Bill her husband!). Every single appointment with her I felt heard, any and all questions (even silly ones) were answered, and not once did I feel rushed while with her. I was assured from the very beginning all the way even to these postpartum days to never hesitate to call if I need ANYTHING at ANY TIME (seriously, she picked up at 4:30 AM when my water broke) - and honestly it has been just like that - she's always 1 phone call away to either ease my mind, make suggestions on how to relieve the many discomforts of pregnancy and postpartum care or answer any questions. The birth of my second son was made so perfect because of the level of care, knowledge and expertise that Laurice brought to our home. She made it possible to birth my 10.5lb, posterior, with the cord wrapped twice around his neck son in the comfort of my own home, without one single tear. All throughout the process she was there, reassuring me that I can and AM doing it; I felt so safe and secure throughout the entire labor and delivery. I would highly recommend Laurice to anyone who is planning a home birth - you will not get better care and compassion anywhere else.

I can't say enough good things about Laurice and Chrissy and the amazing experience my husband (and baby) and I had with Midwives and Associates. I won't be using anybody else to bring my babies into the world! Midwives and Associates is it! It was our first pregnancy and we knew we wanted a home birth. We found them through online research and later found out that many families we know have also used them and raved about how wonderful they were. Throughout the entire process, they were always only a phone call away for even what felt to me like perhaps a silly question. I was always reassured that no question was silly and was always taken seriously and felt valued and heard. They gave my husband and I every tool and resource we needed to prepare for the birth and were open and easy to communicate with. We read the book they gave us, followed the method, practiced what they advised, and had a beautiful and safe birth. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM! Here's where I think other reviewers seem to get stuck -- you need to listen to their suggestions, read the literature they give you, and practice it! Since all of the process is natural and done at home, you need to prepare. And they absolutely help you prepare. They make themselves available at any hour throughout the whole pregnancy for even the smallest fear you might have. They eliminate any stress surrounding pregnancy and laboring if you take advantage of all they offer. And the method they recommend ABSOLUTELY works. I read and reread many chapters in their book, added the supplements and teas they recommended to my healthy diet, practiced the positions they said would help with laboring, and in the third trimester did the perineal massage almost every day as they recommend. The preparation worked, my knowledge from the book I read kicked in when the time came, and helped minimize pain, completely eliminated any tension and fear, and I had an amazing birthing experience with absolutely no tearing and was surprised at how quick my physical recovery was. They stayed for four hours after our son was born and answered questions, helped with breastfeeding/lactation, cleaned up the birthing area, did baby's physical, helped me get cleaned up, gave my husband skin-to-skin bonding time with our baby, even took some photos for us!

Our daughter was born in October of 2017, but my experience still stays with me. I started out bouncing between regular OB/GYNs during the first half of my pregnancy, as I hadn't known anyone else who'd willingly had a homebirth and I received a lot of pushback when I started mentioning to loved ones that I'd like to do a homebirth. Finally, after much research and calls to my insurance company, I found Laurice and Chrissy and Bill and after our first appointment (I think I was something like 28 weeks by the time I decided to make the jump), my husband and I were sold. We were at ease in her office and impressed with all of their experience and knowledge. Fast forward and though I did have a very long and drawn out labor and minor tearing, Laurice and Chrissy never once pushed me to do anything I didn't want to do or lost their cool, even when I was losing mine! My daughter was born healthy and beautiful and in the comfort of our own home, an absolutely unmatched experience. Though we did have some hiccups with postpartum service, their office was responsive and took care of things for us, and in retrospect, I realize one missed appointment was likely my own doing, not theirs. Would recommend and would use again.

We would 100% work with Laurice again and recommend her to others looking for a physiological birth experience with no intervention.

I established a clientele here hoping that I would receive wonderful care due to the great reviews…read morethat I read prior to making an appointment, but unfortunately I was quickly disappointed with the not only the customer service, but the health care provider as well. Exactly one year and a month ago I had an intrauterine device placed by another provider and unfortunately been having many issues with it for quite some time. I scheduled my appointment to have the old IUD taken out and a new one put in as talked about with Dr. Christine A Talmage, M.D at the Bethlehem location. I became concerned when I didn't receive a confirmation call or email the night before my appointment so I called to confirm that everything was still set in stone. I was told by Christine (Who works at the Bethlehem location) someone had deleted my appointment and due to this problem not being my fault whatsoever they would 100% make sure that I would be seen no matter what for the 22nd of October. I got a call back on October 22nd at 9:38 AM from Christine stating that they wouldn't be able to see me until Tuesday the 29th even though she GUARANTEED that I would be able to be seen the night before when I had called. This procedure was scheduled two weeks in advance because in order for them to place the IUD I have to be menstruating. Furthermore, they needed time to order the IUD which would take about 2 weeks. So I scheduled it accordingly around my time of the month. Taking time off is very difficult due to me being full time student and a Veterinary Technician at an Emergency Hospital. It was very unprofessional of the health care provider, Dr. Talmage, not only to cancel my appointment, but they did not make me aware of it until the night prior. Had they made me aware that the appointment was canceled due to a conflict or something else I would've understood. Unfortunately I am now in excruciating pain and I will now have to wait to get my IUD removed and replaced next month with another provider. I do not recommend using or wasting your time at St. Luke's OBGYN. I truly hope my review can help someone looking for a reliable OBGYN as St. Luke's is far from that.
