When I became pregnant with baby #5 in 2020 I knew I wanted a home birth and was blessed to find Laurice. From beginning to end, Laurice provided exceptional care. She was always available when I needed her and able to answer every question that arose. The office visits were always through and I was never rushed. I truly enjoyed going to my check ups and chatting with Laurice and Bill. My first home birth was a dream come true. I could not have asked for a more intimate and beautiful experience- I knew (God willing) I would never have another hospital birth. I went on to have another wonderful home birth for baby #6 in 2022 with Laurice and then again with baby #7, on Mother's Day of this year. Baby #7 was a double footling breech birth! When Laurice arrived she informed me that our little girl was breech and offered to transfer to the hospital or I could get in the pool and have a baby! I choose to get in the birth pool. I was doubting myself on if I could mentally and physically get through a breech birth and I was so scared. Laurice was such a strong and firm voice telling me she knew I could do it. She knew exactly what to do and which position to have me in to best help me deliver my baby. I was so incredibly proud of myself. I remember asking my husband after our baby's birth if he was worried that I might not be able to deliver her at home and he said "absolutely not, Laurice said you could do it, so I knew you would be able to do it." Didn't leave for 2 hours after we called saying active labor was underway. Every appointment we went to, we were told stories of how they rush to births and drive quickly and it's a whirlwind. It should have been a red-flag. Do your research. We delivered our child alone. After, we wrote several emails trying to discuss why this happened, why they dropped off and no aftercare was received & they refused to communicate or acknowledge us while not responding to anything. Like so many other women I will be forever grateful for Laurice (& Bill). I had my first child in December 2017 which ended in an emergency c-section. While I am so blessed that my daughter and I are both healthy and happy, my husband and I knew there had to be a better option for us and the experience of birth. If home birth is what you really really want, they are willing to work it out with you. I remember coming to them at roughly 33 weeks gestation and they took me even though they were booked. This was my first Home Birth Experience and I like I'll definitely do it all over again. With my last experience of having two babies In a hospital setting with Epidurals and Pitocin, I can definitely relate to anything. Especially having the doctors decide what I should do during my labor. With Laurice it was a complete opposite, she is there when I needed her. She treated me as if I am a family member. I still remember her giving me a forehead kiss when leaving my home after a home visit. Lovely! My Labor lasted for a total of 4 hours, crazy since it was my third birth! There is not one negative thing that I can say about the care, love and attention that I received during my prenatal stage, the birth of my son and the aftercare received by Laurice (and Bill her husband!). Every single appointment with her I felt heard, any and all questions (even silly ones) were answered, and not once did I feel rushed while with her. I was assured from the very beginning all the way even to these postpartum days to never hesitate to call if I need ANYTHING at ANY TIME (seriously, she picked up at 4:30 AM when my water broke) - and honestly it has been just like that - she's always 1 phone call away to either ease my mind, make suggestions on how to relieve the many discomforts of pregnancy and postpartum care or answer any questions. I just had my first baby about 4 months ago, at the age of 37. I had no doubts in my mind that a home birth was the way I wanted to go. I had no fears going into it. But I know that if i did Laurice would have chased all those fears away. Right from the beginning, as soon as we met Laurice, we just knew she was the one we wanted to have our baby with. The way she cares completely about both, mother and baby, is not care that I feel I would've gotten with a regular ob/gyn. Or even in a hospital setting. Even the father is included in the care and encouraged. During birth, things progressed fast but then stalled out a bit for me. The whole time she was right there with me helping me to get through it. Encouraging me when I thought I couldn't do it. My doula, Natalie, was also amazing throughout the whole thing. There is no question in my mind, if I have a 2nd baby, who I want by my side. After the baby Laurice is continually checking up, calling and coming by to make sure we're OK and to see if we need anything. I could not have hoped for anything better. She's worth it all. I can't say enough good things about Laurice and Chrissy and the amazing experience my husband (and baby) and I had with Midwives and Associates. I won't be using anybody else to bring my babies into the world! Midwives and Associates is it! It was our first pregnancy and we knew we wanted a home birth. We found them through online research and later found out that many families we know have also used them and raved about how wonderful they were. Throughout the entire process, they were always only a phone call away for even what felt to me like perhaps a silly question. I was always reassured that no question was silly and was always taken seriously and felt valued and heard. They gave my husband and I every tool and resource we needed to prepare for the birth and were open and easy to communicate with. We read the book they gave us, followed the method, practiced what they advised, and had a beautiful and safe birth. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM! Here's where I think other reviewers seem to get stuck -- you need to listen to their suggestions, read the literature they give you, and practice it! Since all of the process is natural and done at home, you need to prepare. And they absolutely help you prepare. They make themselves available at any hour throughout the whole pregnancy for even the smallest fear you might have. They eliminate any stress surrounding pregnancy and laboring if you take advantage of all they offer. And the method they recommend ABSOLUTELY works. I read and reread many chapters in their book, added the supplements and teas they recommended to my healthy diet, practiced the positions they said would help with laboring, and in the third trimester did the perineal massage almost every day as they recommend. The preparation worked, my knowledge from the book I read kicked in when the time came, and helped minimize pain, completely eliminated any tension and fear, and I had an amazing birthing experience with absolutely no tearing and was surprised at how quick my physical recovery was. They stayed for four hours after our son was born and answered questions, helped with breastfeeding/lactation, cleaned up the birthing area, did baby's physical, helped me get cleaned up, gave my husband skin-to-skin bonding time with our baby, even took some photos for us! read more

I have wanted to have a homebirth since before even getting pregnant. In July, my dreams were fulfilled and my husband and I welcomed our firstborn into the world in our living room with Laurice by our side. Our daughter was born in October of 2017, but my experience still stays with me. I started out bouncing between regular OB/GYNs during the first half of my pregnancy, as I hadn't known anyone else who'd willingly had a homebirth and I received a lot of pushback when I started mentioning to loved ones that I'd like to do a homebirth. Finally, after much research and calls to my insurance company, I found Laurice and Chrissy and Bill and after our first appointment (I think I was something like 28 weeks by the time I decided to make the jump), my husband and I were sold. We were at ease in her office and impressed with all of their experience and knowledge. Fast forward and though I did have a very long and drawn out labor and minor tearing, Laurice and Chrissy never once pushed me to do anything I didn't want to do or lost their cool, even when I was losing mine! My husband and I have know Laurice and her husband Bill for nearly 10 years now. She was referred by several of my friends and I'm so glad we met her. We wanted a home birth, but wanted more info. So once my husband and I met here, we knew then she was going to be our midwife. Our guest child was born a stillborn. And Laurice was right there in the delivery room. She was there to comfort my husband and myself and even brought me food and snacks. She attended our son's funeral and was always there when I needed her. And a year after I lost him, I was happy to let her know that I was expecting again . We found out it was a girl. At times during this pregnancy I would get so nervous if I didn't feel her move. So in those times, I would call Laurice and she would come to my house, and let me hear my baby's heartbeat . And that happened a few times. She was ALWAYS there! And when the time came to deliver, even after 12 long hours of labor, it was such an amazing experience when she laid my Bella on my chest. I wish I could post a video of the moment I saw her!!! My son went inexplicably breech at 38 weeks. Laurice assured me by reminding of the goal, healthy momma and baby. In 2017 I gave birth to my first son. I went the hospital route and unfortunately my experience was traumatic. When I miraculously became pregnant again, I knew my experience had to be totally different. I was confident that after my emergency c-section I could give birth vaginally and experience child birth the way it was intended. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anyone in The Valley who would take my insurance or allow me to have a vbac. A friend recommended Laurice and I am forever grateful I found her. Not only did Laurice agree to see me, but she believed in me and had successfully worked with MANY women with my similar story. I was filled with hope that it could be different for me too. During labor she made the best coach and was aware and present for each phase. She cared for me beautifully and kindly, but also not for a moment did she allow me to forget that I was made for this. I wish I could give Laurice, Bill, and Natalie 10 stars. They were a godsend during my pregnancy!. We started off working with Laurice as a temporary thing because we weren't locals in the area but were here with relatives to escape a covid hotspot. However, we fell in love with the level of care, Laurice's expertise and warmth, that we decided to stay for the entire pregnancy and give birth in our relatives' home. From the very first intake call, Bill was so warm and welcoming- he must've spent an hour with me over the phone, and even though I wasn't their patient yet and hadn't paid anything, he was letting me know what kind of supplements they recommend to ensure a smooth pregnancy without complications. During the pregnancy and birth, Laurice's care was unparalleled! We looked into other midwives and OBs and I honestly believe that Laurice is the cream of the crop. I find that other places operate on fear too much: pushing for all kinds of tests, trying to find something wrong, refusing to take on certain patients, pressuring women into induction way too early. Laurice operates completely on love- she LOVES what she does, she loves helping women, she BELIEVES in you and your ability to have a spectacular and uncomplicated birth and it truly makes all the difference. She also has a ton of experience both in hospital and at home, she's attended thousands of births, and even has experience. with twins and breech when others do not. She cares enough to connect with you emotionally which is so rare in today's world, she makes your partner feel involved, and she makes you feel like you can accomplish anything. This has been so helpful for me to dispel any fears I had because she truly knows what is normal and will tell you what signs to look for. The birth itself was an absolute dream!!! So many other places, especially hospitals will make you feel like a bystander of this momentous event that you should be creating and rob you of that empowering experience, leaving you with baggage or birth trauma. My greatest goal going with Midwives & Associates was to avoid any kind of birth trauma, but I gained so much more than that! I cried because of how empowering and healing this birth was to me as a person, how it made me realize I am capable of anything (which Laurice already believed even if I didn't), and nowadays I feel sad that I am already forgetting the details of the birth and wish I could re-experience it. I honestly would not even describe the birth as painful- I would describe it as raw, tender, loving, and intense experience. This was all thanks to Laurice encouraging me to look into Hypnobirthing, and thanks to how Laurice and Natalie (doula) handled the entire labor and birth. They allowed my partner and I to labor together and steer the wheel for the most part and they would only intervene when they saw we needed the help to progress our labor- every time their advice was absolute gold. They treated me with dignity and respect and like I am a person instead of just a body or a patient to get through. I'm also pretty sure I would've been induced or had a c-section if I went with an OB because of how my labor stopped and started for a few days, so I'm especially grateful. After the birth, the care was phenomenal as well. Laurice and Natalie cleaned everything up, and stayed with me a few extra hours to make sure I was showered and feeling good, and that breastfeeding was off to a good start. Laurice continued to come back for home visits to check on us. I was nervous going into homebirth initially, but after experiencing it, I will never have it any other way. We are actually thinking of moving to this area partially because of Laurice. Their practice feels like family now. Do yourself a favor and go with Laurice. I just had my third baby with Laurice as my midwife, and I couldn't imagine a more beautiful birth. All four of my kids ages 13, 12, 11 years , and 6 months old, were born with Laurice and I would never trust anyone else. It will be an extremely sad day if she ever decides to stop working. With my last baby, I made the mistake of trying another OB office (Lehigh Valley LVP Obstetrics and Gynecology,) simply for the fact that I finally had insurance coverage. Not only did they send me an estimate for my copays, which would have cost me more out of pocket than what The Midwives and Associates cost without insurance, but they had, such a cold and impersonal mindset, and they tried to push so many unnecessary tests on me. They didn't even allow me to meet the actual doctor until my fourth visit. When I finally did meet her I let her know that I normally see Laurice, and that I was very nervous about making the switch and that one thing I was adamant about when I made the appointment was that I wanted to make sure that I'd only be dealing with females. She informed me that wouldn't be the case and that the person delivering the baby would most likely be someone that I've never met before, and could very likely be a male and would simply just be anyone from the hospital who'd be on call at that time. I told her that I didn't feel comfortable with that at all and left their office in tears, praying that I would be able to get in with Midwives and Associates even though I was so far along already. Laurice and Chrissy helped birth both of my babies. My first in 2015 and my second in 2018. I knew I wanted to have a midwife deliver but I was not as sure about a home birth. Since that is the way they do it, we went along with it. I'm so glad we did! It was so special to actually birth our children right in our own home! Laurice is amazing at what she does. I trust her completely. She is so calm, patient and positive. She is very wise; and I followed her instructions throughout prenatal care to a t so as to have the best experience. Birthing a baby is not something one should take lightly. You need to prepare for it in many different ways. She did an excellent job helping us to prepare ourselves. My births weren't easy; but I don't have any negative memories of either of them and feel that I was always in good hands. I loved having her there for the after care and follow ups. It felt so much more personal and friendly than a doctor visit. I had no tearing with the first birth and very little with the second and I healed very quickly. Laurice's husband Bill is also a part of the team. He is the first person I spoke with when calling to inquire about the whole process as a nervous newly pregnant person. He has the most friendly and trusting phone voice, that I felt at ease immediately. Turns out he is just as friendly in person! Many people comment on how mellow my kids are.
