Good for the price, but could be better. Parking can be a nightmare. The administration isn't the easiest to work with. Some of the professors were jerks. A lot of the students were clique-ish. Too much funding is redirected to the athletic department. But overall, I would highly recommend this school. read more

Terrible school filled with terrible admin, and overall staff. No empathy or real care for students in the slightest. Even the cafeteria ladies are miserable and take out the fact that they make $12/hour on students. Nasty, pathetic energy and spirits. The university is awesome. If you are coming to be in a secluded town. It's a small but energetic bunch of students. Partaking is never that bad, and my professors at the time seemed to love what they were teaching. Although I was a horrible student my freshman year here, I would do it all over again. I had a lot of fun skipping class and not caring about school while here. Just imagine how much fun I would of had if I decided to work hard as a student here. With that being said, if you are not sure about your future for school but you want to give it a trail run........ this is a great 4 year university for that. If you want to pay under $200 for good parking each year and want kinesiology professors that actually teach.... Then maybe come here, but for sure don't graduate and UNT like I did haha. Before I begin this review, I will state that Midwestern State University is my Alma mater. I attend these prestigious university these ago when the new Dillard College of Business Administration was completed and opened to the campus. The teachers were superb in their teaching style and challenged the student body with technical examines. Scholarships are plentiful if you take the time to talk to the staff in the Hardin Administration Building. The campus was always busy with events that catered to the vast interests that is life. And while I did graduate years ago, I recently took a long walk around campus to see how much it has really changed in the form of new buildings and new attractions. read more

The best university in expenses, the staff cares as well as the teachers. I don't have many negatives to say about this school other than you get what you go there for, so long as you actually study-like any other university. Ignore what people may say about the town being small, it's the University here that counts. The library has a fascinating room with original bits of history, the teachers will be willing to help you with anything and classroom sizes are around 30. It is a beautiful campus, and quiet as well. The Mesquite cafe also offers a variety of food that changes each day so you have a different hot meal, then there's the food court which has smoothies, a grill, and a Quiznos. Honestly, where else are you going to get a quality education with teachers who actually care about you, friendly staff, and so on, at a low cost? read more

Since I am a student at this university, you'll find this review handy. Yes, it's cheap. Like all cheap things, you get what you pay for. Be prepared to be surrounded by an extremely right-winged staff and country boys and girls. If you're uninterested in developing new ideas, learning anything in depth, or thinking outside of the box, I'd advise majoring in business. I am a business major and I've learned the same basic accounting principles since my very first business class. Keep in mind I can graduate in about a year. I am so fed up with the lack of creativity and actual learning in the business department that I'm switching majors, which will set me back a year. There are a few really great open minded professors who teach how to think abstractly about their given subject, but too few. Most professors are hardcore Christian republicans. The students have a cool Caribbean demographic. Aside from those students, it's mostly one-minded, born and raised in Wichita Falls type of students. I am trying to transfer to UT in Austin to have a bit of culture and diversity in my education. I don't mean to bash on this school. It is nothing personal. I take education seriously, and I feel that students here are being cheated out of a real education. Business at MSU is a waste of a brain. read more

Small classes with mostly great professors taking time to work with you! You will feel like you are part of a family especially if you are in departments with the small number of students! Got my undergraduate double-major from Texas Tech. A couple years after I moved back to the Falls to try out another degree that would mesh with my previous two. The experience from beginning to end was awful. First, after having over 173 transfer credit hours, I was forced to attend the "new-student" orientation, which consisted mostly of hand-holding items such as where and how to pay bills and other things that would be good for someone still classified as a freshman, but in my case a HUGE waste of time. I met with my advisor months prior to the first day of classes to get my schedule lined up and approved. Well, turns out I had to attend the orientation before I could register... well that orientation was 2 days before classes started and of course all the classes I wanted were full. Thankfully I got overrides because I raised enough hell but the hoops I had to jump through were just ridiculous. Bottom line, they admit more students than they can effectively put in class rooms per semester. Nice way to rip you off and waste your time basically. I also had to take a 'required' class everyone had to take, Ethics. This actually turned out to be a fantastic class, although completely unnecessary if truth be told, and I highly recommend Dr. Nathan Jun as a wonderful professor. That aside, the other quality of education seemed just low compared to what I had to go through to get in classes and compared to Texas Tech. I had two engineering classes, calculus and chemistry in addition to the afore-mentioned ethics. Nothing blew my skirt up at all, and in fact again that thing about having not enough enough classes/rooms/computers/what-have-you in correlation to students admitted - that whole taste never left my mouth. It felt very much like for the money the University had and was receiving, they weren't using it as effectively as they could be. Another irritation for having two degrees and multiple minors was the fact I had to take a writing proficiency test before I could move on to my second semester classes. I had to pay to take this test and if I failed it I would have to take a full semester of a course to help prepare me for the test that I would have to re-take. I have several published research papers from my stay at TTU, but when presented to the proper channels in effort to bypass this asinine test (for me personally) I was shut down and told I HAD to take it just as I HAD to go to the orientation for new students. In the end I only spent a single semester there because I felt truly ripped off. I received an A in all classes I took in addition to working my full-time job, just in case you might be wondering. Seriously, the school has a good reputation and did the whole time I grew up in the Falls, but I find it grossly bloated and not worth the hype and definitely not worth the money. I also had a short stint at the University of North Texas in addition to being at Texas Tech, and both of those universities far eclipsed MSU in every aspect. read more

Good school in terms of money being saved compared to other universities. Staff is almost impossible to get in contact with on the phone. Spent a lot of time between offices that are ten steps away from each other just so each department can have the same documents. It's almost like i had to nag just for them to do their job. Professors are average, but can be a little jerkish. Everything else is perfect: good college atmosphere, nice people, and nice facilities. overall i guess the school is ok. read more
