The screen/computer was slow and unresponsive at times, leaving you wondering where you shot was headed. The distance tracking seemed quite unreliable when compared to other launch monitor tracking systems. Comparable shots had completely different trajectories and distances. The putting situation was terrible. Even when setting putts to "gimmes" at 10 feet left me taking 3-4 putts within 15 yards of the hole. The clarity of the screen also added to the difficulty of putting. I believe this place would be fun with a group when you are just hanging out and playing some of the other games available. However, I would never recommend using this facility to practice golf or use it to actually simulate a round, especially with its premium price point.

This is a family run business that provides extraordinary service! The facility offers beautiful rooms that are decorated in a welcoming and comfortable manner. The large dining room is appointed with pheasants and other wildlife as well as a large fireplace. There are two sitting rooms that can be used for meetings, watching movies or just hanging out. The outdoor deck allows you to enjoy endless views. The experience includes delicious home cooked meals, South Dakota style! After an exciting day of hunting, what could be better? The tub in the bathroom needed to be resealed and there was mold in the corners. Overall, the room served its purpose. I do feel the need to mention the breakfast situation. Numerous times I watched the employee that was overseeing the breakfast area walk past dirty tables and trash cans that were overflowing. When I was cleaning up after myself I had to balance my trash on top of the trash can and pray it wasn't going to fall off because of how full it was. The breakfast was good though, no complaints there.

It was nice that this was secured for us. There is very narrow elevator which made it difficult to use their luggage cart. The following day we avoided the cart to make loading car easier. Pool and breakfast area on ground floor. We didn't use pool but looked nice. Our 2 bedroom suite had a room with 2 queens facing another room with 1 king. No luggage space for king room so had it in entry way. Also only single bathroom which was very tight. Extra towels were provided as requested so nice of hotel. Refrigerator is in between dorm and full size. Kitchenette had 2 sets of portable burners with over range full size microwave. Two dining tables which looked the same as breakfast room with seats. We were lucky to get pizza and beer from nearby brewery to heat up and eat. Living room was tight space and love seat probably wasn't needed. Total of three televisions in living room, 2 queen room, and 1 king room. 2 queen room was roomiest with a portable coat rack with some storage. Window near entrance but facing building wall. TV faced perpendicular to one of the beds next to door. Love seat in this room which was nice. 1 king room was tightest room with outside window which was nice. Crib fit in this room so managed to separate the kids. Bathroom was tight but worked. Water pressure was the best of any hotels we stayed at in this area. Breakfast was nice but noticed bread and gravy packaging date to be a few days to week of actual date of serving. At least, you can pick and choose for bread- white/multigrain/biscuit. Not much choice for gravy. Nice rewards program to choose checkin gift card like Starbucks $5. We used the day after without any issue.

I've been here a few times and I remember the days when there was a beautiful rock floor underneath the carpet that is now in the corridor between the banquet rooms and the coffee shop. Rip that carpet up and show off that beautiful floor!!! Rooms are a nice size especially the suites! Nothing too flashy when it comes to amenities, but it works well. Staff is polite and "mid-westy". One of the first "original" motels in Brookings along with the "Brookings Inn" which used to be a Holiday Inn. The Staurolite was once a Best Western as well. Lots of history in that little motel.
