I will start by saying their educational sessions are top notch. Very informative and really well…read moredone. That is what hooked us. We went in and loved the Financial Advisor Alex. He explained the process and gave us a lot to consider. We decided to sign with them. When we went back it felt a bit rushed. They quickly went through the contract ( we printed it out after and it's about 250 pages) and I felt mislead by the fees. We really had to DIG to get the full answer. The answer that clarified it for us made me skeptical. It actually made me worry about the whole process. We left after signing and I could not stop thinking about it. I can compare it to the buyers remorse you would have after purchasing a timeshare when you were at a resort in Mexico. I contacted them immediately and said we would not be transferring any accounts but would be interested in their retirement advisor services. I asked them to make sure our accounts were cancelled. I emailed every week for a month and never was contacted. I still do not have an answer. For us something did not sit right and when they did not contact us it confirmed that we made the right decision. I was leery when the only newspaper in their lobby was the Epoch Times and I should have went with my gut then. I would like to note that I waited more than a month to write this review to see if they would respond and like I said I'm still waiting. It's unfortunate.

On hold for ~5m for a new agent, only for them to then state that the call never should have been transferred and they are unable to help me. The member/employee # they are asking for is not clearly labelled on my paperwork, and the plan ID was on a totally separate piece of paperwork that came in a separate lot of mail. Insane.

These people are some of the worst to deal with. They will not answer your questions and they will…read morecontinue to deflect and give misinformation. They will selectively ignore your questions, if they can vaguely point to something else you said. They will not cite or point you to their actual written policy. They seem to have processed things incorrectly and they cannot explain why they did it. They don't mind putting participants in awful situations, because they can just ignore you. Instead of trying to answer my questions, one of the people I spoke to kept deflecting and was even caught up with her own idea and said "you're just trying to find a loop hole". I don't get how trying to understand why principal processed something the way they did was trying to find a loop hole. If you have issues with them and they cannot point to a policy and they refuse to answer your questions, report it to an external regulatory body. Document everything. Report them to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), U.S. Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) , IRS, consult with an ERISA attorney, or something.
