The prices went higher and the quality control of the food has suffered. The last few times we've been the meat has been drastically over cooked and the salad has been soggy. First of all thank you for being one of the few places that we found open for lunch on Christmas. While driving back from a small road trip, we needed this respite. Also in terms of place and location, it's good. Casual place like many other Mediterranean joints. It was a holiday, so there was only one guy behind the counter when we arrived. He was working hard prepping takeaway orders, manning the register, and everything. Later on he did get some help on the register side. Love the area on Lake St where there are some other restaurant favorites in the area. Finally the food. We all had falafel wraps, which I thought were great. The wrap comes in burrito style wrap, which some places call lafa bread. The falafel we're kind of crushed up a bit to ensure you get some in each bite. The wraps had some of the more authentic ingredients like pickled turnips and pickles, but what I really loved was that these were very subtly flavored. Sometimes the turnips and so forth overpower your sandwich, but not here. It was great. I has some tahini and hot sauce on the side which added some good flavor. The tahini was great, and the hot sauce was ok. Not the best, but the combination of the two worked. For starters, the hummus was pretty good. We ordered a large and you get a lot of it. I think it should come with more bread, though, because we ran out pretty quick. Lastly, the side of fries were kinda meh... They had a nice idea with some seasoning on the fries, but the fries themselves were completely soggy. I like 'em crispy. Doesn't everyone? I don't like using this forum as a complaint board, but I'm left with no choice as I can't seem to contact the REAL store manager for some sort of resolution, so... This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, ever since they first opened. The food is very tasty, but the service has gone SERIOUSLY downhill lately, and I've noticed other recent posts saying the same. I used to order there at least 2-4 times a month on my way to work, but no more. I used to just walk in to order but one day a few months ago I called in to order to save time and the girl who answered wouldn't take my phone order and told me to order online, so I did. The response said 25 minutes to be ready, and I arrived in about 30 minutes. The cashier was talking or flirting with the cook and saw me waiting and simply turned back to continue her conversation. I stood for almost 3 minutes before being approached (with no smile or anything). I gave my name, and the girl looked confused and realized my order had been sitting for over 40 minutes. She simply said "wait", went to whisper with the chef while both sent glances over their shoulder at me. I finally got my food 47 minutes after ordering, no apology, no smile, nothing. This happened again the next 3 times in a row, and the most recent time I called on the phone to confirm they got my online order (girl said "yes") but it still wasn't ready in the more than ample time to prepare a simple pita wrap (30 mins). When I complained that this had happened the week before, the girl literally glared and said nothing while the cook scrambled into action. Additionally, they have shorted me extra feta on my halal bowls and pitas after I had paid for and verbally confirmed it was in there only find it missing when I opened the meal. When I called, a girl answered, saying she's the manager (don'tthink it was), and she's sorry: no refund for only $1, so mention at store next time so "it's not forgotten." They've forgotten my extra pita. They've forgotten to include my sauces OR put directly on the sandwich when it's clearly marked "on the side" on receipt. I've ordered all 3 sauces and have been given 3 of the same sauces or had them omitted altogether, even after verbally confirming with the cashier. It's obvious she doesn't care and simply offers lip service to get the customer gone so she can text and flirt. I don't know if it's a bad employee or bad training, but something has been pretty seriously wrong with the last 5 or 6 orders in a row and I'm sorry to say that I believe I won't eat here anymore. For anyone who wants to risk the errors made by the front counter staff, it's definitely tasty but relatively expensive food if they get it right, but I'm for Naf-Naf from now on. Thought I would give this place a try since it was rush hour and I was the only customer in. The decor is modern, semi-dim lighting, easy to read and simple menue, and mouth watering smells. I did see some good reviews for this place but waited until they had established themselves in the community before trying them out. The cashier was nice and directed me to the possible combos that I might be interested in. I ordered a lamb kabob wrap with their "hot sauce", paid $9.45 tax included and waited. Another customer came and otdered a chicken schwarma wrap and a call was placed over the internet system for a big order through postmates delivery. I noticed after a while that there was a sign that said " Good food takes time, please wait 10-15min" I thought, "Why not, how long could a simple wrap take?" Oh how wrong I was... After some amount of time I became impatient. I contacted my credit card company and asked what time my transaction was placed through to which they responded "5pm". At this time it was 5:20, 5 min past their sign. I asked the cashier if my food would be ready soon to which she responded, "almost done!". Now there was only one guy in the back and I couldnt for the slightest reason imagine what was taking so long but I noticed that he wasnt prioritizing becase A) The postmate order was ready and B) the guy who came in after me got his chicken schwarma! I walked up to protest and demand my money back only to be given my order, it was 5:24pm. I took the food to my car and already with the light weight of the wrap in my hand I had buyers remorse. I openened up and it felt disproportionate. I took a bite and tasted the grilled peppers, the lettuce and spices waiting for the succulent lamb taste to flood my mouth. I opened the wrap up to expose the contents and saw that this wrap was indeed disproportionate; The lamb slices, 3 medallions, were at the bottom. As I took a bite of the lamb to remove the lackluster flavor of the bell peppers andd lettuce, I felt an odd sensation. You see up to this point everything tasted warm, it was a stark constrast when the meat hit my mouth cold! Now not ice cold, but warmed up to the point that you could tell it was cold. Furthermore, I moved the food around my mouth from place to place to get a taste of the "hot sauce", only to find it had been weakly spritzed on the lamb. I cant help but feel cheated out of my time and money. I think I was patient enough, and was friendly to the staff comenting positively on the menu and making qaint chit chat. I unfortunatley cannot recommend this place at this current time. I do believe in second chances and will return at another time, possibly a few months, but if you are looking for a quick bite to eat at a reasonable price, please go elsewhere. read more

Average food, less than stellar service, very small seating area. With so many middle eastern places to choose from, you have to keep up. The shawarma came from a large pan in the back and was not cut off a spit, it seemed to have an excessive amount of cinnamon/all spice, which I know is the flavor, but this was too much, and there were fruit flies circling the soda fountain. As far as service, there was only one girl working (who was very nice), but when phone orders would come in, she would all but ignore the people standing in front of her to take the call while the owner/manager sat in the restaurant. read more

Middleterranean is a reasonably priced store front restaurant with some DELICIOUS food! To top it off, the guy behind the register was extremely friendly and helped us order. He he offered us extra dip, etc.. The plate I ordered was the fish special - forgot it's name, but it was 12 something and it was enough food for two meals. I went here today to pick up an order I called in. There seemed to be a bunch of grumpy people who did not like to wait 10 min for their food and it seems to be sort of a trend in the reviews. Look, you want Luke warm fast food sitting in a warming tray where you can get your meal in a drive through in two minutes go to McDonald's. I'm personally happy that the food is made to order and that carries through with the quality and flavor. I will gladly wait 10-15 min for that. But since I know it can take some time I call ahead. Great place for a good quick Mediterranean meal. Came here last night for the first time. My wife and I both got the Shawarma bowls; she got the chicken, I got two meats, chicken and steak. I got two sauces, garlic and hot. I thought the dish was quite tasty. The meat was very tender and flavorful and it was over a bed if perfectly cooked Mediterranean rice. One half of the bowl was meat and rice, the other half was salad which was also tasty because it had the Mediterranean veggie mix, cucumbers and tomatoes. My garlic and hot sauce were perfectly drizzled on top. Blended together, it all tasted phenomenal and was very filling. My wife and I split a 6pc falafel side. The falafel was good too; moist inside, not dry like some other Mediterranean places I've been to. My only gripe was that they didn't give us any Taziki sauce to go with our falafel so I had to dip them in the sauce I had leftover from my dish. Service was average. The guys inside were nice and it didn't take long to make our meal. I would definitely come back next time I got a taste for Mediterranean. read more

We were passing through the area and tried this place. Ordered one of their Fresh Bowls with Chicken, Rice and Salad. My wife ordered the same thing but added Kefta with the chicken. Make sure tell them what kind of salad as you have 3 options (Jerusalem, Fatoush or Tabouleh) The default is Jerusalem with Tahini dressing. They have a mixture of pre-made foods that they warm up on the grill and some cook to order foods depending on what you order. There are a lot of options for Mediterranean Food in the area and surrounding suburbs. This place was was decent if you're looking for an American spin on Mediterranean food. Personally, I would have probably enjoyed the wraps over the bowl. read more

The falafel was pretty good, moist inside, crunchy outside, and it had good flavor. - Garlic sauce: AWFUL!!!!! This is not an authentic sauce at all. It is literally mayo with "garlic" flavor in it. It is absolutely terrible. It tastes like mayo and I don't know why anyone would want to eat it. If you know what authentic garlic sauce is, it's thick, creamy, with a distinct flavor to it. This is not even in the same family. Horrible, horrible, horrible. And it was all on top of my food!!! YUCK!!! - Hummus: It was decent but I can tell it has a strong Tahini base and that's not my favorite kind of hummus. I would call this "white washed" ethic food. Everything is toned down for the appeal of white people. If you are used to actual good and authentic food, don't waste your time here. My wife and I visit this place if we need to have some greek fries. They are just out of the world and after eating that you need to run out of the world to burn those calories. I ordered catering from here for a small family party and everyone really enjoyed the food. We had chicken shawarma, steak shawarma, and lamb kebob. They all had really good flavors and they were surprisingly fresh for having sat in my car while I drove them home. The meat came with a ridiculously huge pile of rice that everyone loved and just ate up. I ordered a cucumber salad which was super fresh and crisp, everyone loved that as well. I also ordered a side of hummus and a side of baba ghanoush - as expected, these were both also super good. Falafels are also delicious! The owner was there when I was picking up my order and he was the nicest guy. He was super chit chatty and it made my day to come across someone so friendly. We order takeout from Mediterranean at least once every 2 weeks and we've never been disappointed with the food! I've tried the gyro, chicken shawarma, steak, falafel, hummus, rice, (basically anything on the menu) and it's always flavorful and fresh. I've catered with them too and the food was a huge hit. good customer service, too. The ONLY reason I took off one star is because they seem to *always always* forget my sauces, whether I've requested them on the side or on top. It's a little frustrating. read more

I was supposed to get a pita with my order but I didn't get it. I told the cashier that I want to get a garlic sauce but the cook didn't give it to me so I had to asked for me. The service was great, the staff were very friendly not just with us, but with each other which made a great atmosphere. The food was fresh with authentic flavors. UPDATE: You can see below for the feedback provided by the business. Apparently paying $8 for a bowl of rice is not enough, if you want sufficient meat, you must pay more!!! This place is just awful, there's no other way to put it. Their food is below sub-par, flavorless, and doesn't taste authentic at all. But the worst part of this place is much they jip you on the meat. Their "halal bowls" are like 80% rice, a few slivers of pickles, and literally like 5 chunks of their flavorless meat (whichever you choose). But really you will eat through the meat in the first 5 minutes and then you're left with a literal bowl of cheap rice. And for that bowl you will have paid upwards of $8+ dollars and waited 15+ minutes. Which is another thing I never understood, why does it take their food SO LONG to prepare?? I have no issues waiting for quality food but this isn't even good! I also tried their falafel burger once, it was eh, probably the best thing I've had there. I just tried a chicken kabob wrap that had 5 measley pieces of chicken and 3 of those were under-cooked and chewy so i had to spit them out. The rest of the wrap was a soupy mess of soggy lettuce, grilled veggies and hummus and mayo. I work in Addison and unfortunately the food options are bleak but for good Middle Eastern food I would recommend Pita House in Schaumburg, Pita Inn in Skokie, and of course places in the south suburbs and the city. read more

Working near this place is a serious hazard to my wallet. I'll be the first to say I'm no expert on this style of food so I can't really comment on whether or not it is authentic or how it compares to other Middle Eastern places. What I CAN say is that I find their falafel wraps to be absolutely delicious. It runs you about $7.00 which is a little pricy for just a sandwich but every time I get it it is cooked to perfection and the wrap is quite literally busting from the seams with food. I get a mix of the hot and the garlic sauce and it never disappoints. I could eat here every day...I can't go a work week without going here at least once.
