These guys will rip you off with unnecessary repairs if you aren't smart! I had gotten my back brake pads replaced for the first time in 12 years. 9 months later I took my car in for an oil change and they told me I needed my back brake pads replaced. When I questioned them on it, he stated "it's not in the CarFax". Then as I was leaving, he stated"next time you come in, we need to discuss your transmission". I have 35,000 miles on my car. I took it to a new mechanic for an oil change today and he told me my car looked great. I asked about the transmission, he said nothing will need to be done until I hit 55-60K in miles. I had a good experience here. I needed a brake job on my 2006 RSX. After contacting the Acura dealership and being told I'd have to wait at least a week for a service appointment, I called this shop, and Jeff, the forthright manager, told me to come right in. They evaluated the entire vehicle, replaced the rotors and brake pads on all four wheels, replaced the brake fluid, and did an engine tune-up with new plugs in just 2-1/2 hours while I took a stroll around downtown Westfield and got lunch. The pricing was fair, and the work is guaranteed. I would return here for minor auto repairs and recommend. read more

A simple maintenance job resulted in crazy damage to my car which forced me to spend hundreds of dollars at my dealership to undo the damage they caused here. Went in for a scheduled oil change. Appointment was set for 230. After waiting an hour, they said my car was ready. They handed me the keys to another vehicle after I explained that was not my car, they took my car in immediately. They were very fast after the little mishap. They also gave me a discount for the wait. I've come here several times before with other vehicles and never had an issue. Have always had a pleasant experience. I know it is a mechanic shop but they need to make sure the customer restroom and waiting area is clean. read more

We have been taking our 3 vehicles there for the past year for basic oil changes. My wife took her car in for an oil change. Techs noticed a white substance on the oil cap and antifreeze missing from the reservoir. They immediately said it needed a new engine due to failed head gaskets. Told her it's common on this car. They quoted her $8000 for an engine swap. I had doubts since the car only had 52k miles. I did some research and consulted with my car buddies. I took it to my mechanic for a second opinion. The substance on the cap was due to condensation. this is normal on a car that does short drives in cold weather. The missing antifreeze was due to a leak in one of the hoses. No overheating warning lights, again due to cold weather and short drives. My mechanic fixed it and did an oil change for only 300 bucks. I hate to give negative reviews since They are very nice people in the shop and make you feel comfortable regardless of who you are. Not only did this misdiagnosis experience ruin our weekend, it ruined our experience with this shop. We were already looking towards getting a used car before I took it to my mechanic. A quick check of the dipstick not being milky and asking my wife questions of her driving habits would have shown given them a different diagnosis. read more

I came out of this place feeling taken advantage of. I needed my brakes replaced. They told me to come in for an estimate. Which of course they charge you for but don't tell you - so make sure you ask! They fixed my brakes and then all Of a sudden a piece is broken. Chuck told me he would just charge for the piece which he told me was about $300. When I looked on line the piece was about $218. When I went in to get the piece put in all of a sudden it was $400. He told me he did the legal amount of mark up on the piece which doesn't add up. I feel dirty coming out of this place. Make sure you ask every question about costs. read more

I had a great experience at the shop last Saturday. I was visiting my daughter to see my grandkids play ball, but picked up flat tire on the way there. Chuck and his associate couldn't have been nicer. I came in around 2:30 and needed it fixed quickly so I could get to a 4:30 game. He quoted me a price, looked at the tire and found that the air valve was broken. They replaced the valve (which also needed a sensor), took the spare off the car, put on repaired tire, balanced it and then put the spare back in the trunk under the covering (a job in itself!). It was done within an hour, and it was one of nicest customer service experiences I can remember. Granted it was a flat tire and not a major repair, but I wouldn't hesitate to bring my car in for other repairs if the shop was closer to where I lived. Also, in response to one reviewer who claimed the manager was racist, that was not my experience at all. Quite the contrary both Chuck, the manager, and his associate who changed the tire and put things back in place were sincere, nice and friendly. read more

Proceed with caution. Went in for just a simple oil change and tire rotation. Ended up spending 1200 after being informed that I needed new front shocks due to leaking hydraulic fluid. Made it sound "urgent". When I picked up the car and inquired if I could have forgo the shocks being replaced and still drive the car , I was informed "sure, the only problem is that it would effect the wear on one of the tires". WTF,,,,,,,,,,,,I SHOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF THIS UPFRONT. They got me good. My advice, proceed with caution and wait for your car. Don't leave it. Physically Verify all diagnostics and work. Something's not right here. Also, previously took care there to resolve a check engine light indicator. Was charged for the work. Went to retrieve car and the check engine indicator was still illuminated. Again, left car there to resolve. Another issue they claimed was the problem based on "another" diagnostic they performed. Car was repaired and they wanted to charge me again for a 2nd diagnostic in addition to resolving the alleged 2nd issue.................something's not right. Guys who work there are pleasant but.................something's not right. I REALLY HOPE I'M WRONG!!! I kinda think they could be capitalizing on the pandemic to offset the loss of revenues due to the reduction in business volume due to the pandemic. Damn, I hope I'm wrong! Took my car in for loud exhaust noise. They found a hole in the exhaust, but separate from the muffler and said I needed to replace the part with the hole plus the mufflers and the cost would be $1,200. I ended up taking it to my regular mechanic who said it wasn't necessary to replace the entire exhaust system and replaced just the part with the hole in it for $600. I had a nail lodged in the center of a tire and asked them to patch it. They said that the tire thread was too worn to be patched. Funny, because I had a another tire patched at Pep Boys the previous month. I live near a construction site. I only went to Midas because it was closer and figured that they would just patch the tire as I requested. They, instead, sold me 4 National tires, because, they said, the car would be off balanced otherwise. The tires did not look new! I had to get to work so didn't argue. Had an absolutely awful experience. Had what was clearly a warranty issue with my tires, as problems with them arose the same day they were installed on my car. Midas went searching for every possible reason under the sun to not process a claim on my behalf. I took my car to multiple other shops to confirm, and Midas still wouldn't submit a warranty claim on my behalf. A friend suggested reaching out directly to the tire manufacturer. Glad I did - the tire company told me to go to another shop they provided. That shop also confirmed the problem was with the tires, swapped them out under warranty in less than 2 days, and what a shock - no more trouble after that. Will never return. Save yourself the time and aggravation. read more

Good service for brakes but that's about it. I brought car in for some tail lights and directional signals that were out and a headlight. For tail light and directionals, they tried to sell me a whole new switch- $497. To replace a headlight, $100 because I was told the entire front bumper had to come off. Long story short- I changed everything myself for $50. Not sure if they are incompetent or dishonest, maybe a little of both. Please beware on any repairs besides brakes. Lots of options in Westfield in for auto repair- avoid this one. read more

Brought my car in to have the exhaust system checked, because there was a rattle. Turned out the heat shield was loose, so they made a repair to eliminate the rattle. And here's the best part - no charge! They could have told me the damage was worse, or charged me a minimum for their time, but they chose to do it for free. Had a great experience with my first visit to the Westfield Midas. Extremely friendly and seemingly reputable. I needed an oil change and they identified an issue with the crankshaft leaking. When I picked up the car, they'd done some legwork and recommended I call the dealer to find out if the repair would be covered under warranty. It was my first time visiting this Midas location. I recently moved from out of state and wanted to stay with the brand. I found this one that was a little farther than other non-Midas shops, but thought it'd be worth the drive since I've had nothing but great experiences with them. And indeed, I was not let down. In fact, I was really pleased by with the service. Chuck, the manager and his employees took good care of my car issues and concerns. I truly appreciated Chuck's calm demeanor, his way of explaining things to me, and being honest about my car's needs without making me feel pressured to fix things right on the spot. He also took the time to show me (literally) what my car needed and left the door open for me to come back. Lastly, I noticed a number of loyal customers come-and-go while I was waiting for my car and that in itself spoke also about his shop. Absolutely the best auto shop I have ever worked with. The owner is great and cares about his customers always providing an accurate representation of the issues. Have been going here for 6 years for service for both of our cars and they can't be beat. Just a few examples to highlight where it has made a difference: 1) Brought in a car with a strut/spring problem and got the estimate to have it fixed. While we were debating if we could find a better price and when to make an appointment got a call back the next day from the manager saying he had looked into it further and discovered it was actually a know defect with the car and would be fixed by the dealer for free. He gave up $500+ in service fees to tell us we could get it done for free elsewhere as he had researched the issue above and beyond where he needed to. 2) Unable to get the tires I wanted from his distributor (or a low enough price on what they had available) offered an option for me to order what I wanted on my own off the internet at a much better rate and have it delivered directly to the shop. Once they arrived got a call and had an appointment the next day to have the new tires mounted and balanaced with no issues, saving me $100s on the price of the tires while getting the excellent service. Many other smaller examples of good, reliable service but these few occurences really stand out as what I want from my mechanic. They have always done good work from minor issues, to oil changes, to the bigger jobs. Give them a shot and you won't be sorry. read more

TERRIBLE PLACE- first went there for an oil change and they called me to tell me a bulb was out. I told them I would replace it myself and when I showed up to pick up my car, they had replaced it anyway and then tried to charge me for it. The next time I went there to have my tire sensor done, the manager tells me it will be $125 "all in". I even clarified with him that the price included labor and parts and he assured me it would cost no more than that. My friend drops my car off for me the next day and he tells her it will be around $145 but he will call me and then he calls me and tells me $165. When I remind him that he told me the job would cost $125 all in, he basically called me a liar and said he never said that. I have had many friends with similiar experiences- do not get any work done here. read more

Stay away. They quote a price for repair work and when you pick up car they add on charges for "supplies". They added on about $50 above quote for oil change and tailpipe replacement. I questioned what "supplies" were since the bill already listed about $550 for the agreed work. I was told that is for things "like" acetylene for the torch to weld the tailpipe, stationery for bills, etc. WHAT????? They want you to pay extra for the bill!!!! I will be disputing this on credit card and advising others to stay away!!! read more

I have been using the Westfield Midas for the 8 years I've been living here. I find them to be the most honest place around and best pricing! My most recent visit I went in with a flat tire which needed to be replaced. I went in at 1 pm on a Friday with a flat tire. They ordered my tire for me and put on the donut so I'd have a car. My new tire was ready to be mounted by 8:00 am Saturday morning and they also did my unscheduled but much needed oil change at that time! Midas is the only place I will go! read more

Needed 40k service for my GL450. Ray Catena of Union quoted $980 + tax for the "Service B3". Most of the guys in the MB forums thought that this service was more like a glorified oil change, which after checking what Mercedes would actually do, seemed like a fair assessment to me. Since no car manufacturer can deny warranty if you have your vehicle serviced somewehere else I checked out Midas around the corner. They were super friendly, knowledgeable and performed a "glorified oil change" for below $200. Unless my car breaks down and needs major repair covered under warranty from Mercedes, it's in very good hands with Midas from now on. read more

Female visited Midas in WESTFIELD horrible experience. I visited Midas in WESTFIELD to get a quote on my exhaust, get an oil change with free tire rotation & lastly a wheel alignment. The exhaust was quoted at $1600 stating I needed to repare my catalytic converter. I left with the oil change and wheel alignment- SO I THOUGHT... I immediately called Minekee in Colonia took it over and was told I needed to replace a flex pipe cost was $600. I called Midas and explained my wheel alignment felt off and my steering wheel was not centered. I brought my car back to Midas to have the work I paid for, done again. When I got to Midas I was told they couldn't do the wheel alignment because I needed a new control arm! It was my understanding that the alignment was done since I paid for it. ($115 for the alignment that wasn't done!) I got a quote for the control arm and was told $1,140! I took back to minekee and was told $400! I then got a refund from Midas after having to fight with the female manager! For work that wasn't even done. Once they closed down I decided to try another Midas, I've been going here for about 2 years and I have to say that I LOVE it. The place is clean and the staff is wonderful. Chuck and Tony are my favorite! Very friendly establishment I enjoy coming here & I like the fact that they are honest with me. I needed work done on my car that was going to cost me thousands of dollars and Tony advised me to go to the dealership where I purchased my car and I did and got it fixed for free because it was still under warranty. Normal places would just make you do it there and pay the money to benefit their business. So if your ever looking for a HONEST place to get work done on your car definitely go here you wont be disappointed, I never am!! :) read more
