This place will replace your entire car if you have no car awareness and leave you with enormous bill. Shady as hell business practices

I have a regular mechanic here on the Cape but I got caught between trips out of town and oil changes and called around. Everyone in or near Orleans was booked for at least three weeks, so I just decided to go down to Midas in person on a Monday morning of the week that I'm home. Manager Dave said they were booked out til August but he said to bring my car in (2011 Honda CRV with low mileage) the next day (Tuesday) and they'd squeeze me in. I got a call from Scott (the other manager @ 10 AM saying the car was ready, the engine looked good, but that there was mold and dirt and evidence of small critters under the hood (we live out in the woods and are aware that this is true), and he offered a foam cleaning service of the AC and lines, also a deterrent to future animal visits. I thought that sounded great so I gave the OK. When I picked the car up that afternoon, the bill was higher than I'd expected, but when I looked up the product that they added back at home, it seemed in line with what they did, with a reasonable profit to them worked in. But now the fan sounded like a rumbling airplane! Never heard that sound before, so I got back over there before closing and Scott said to bring the car back on Friday, they'd flush/clean out the lines one more time. Well, that's exactly what they did today, no extra charge (nor should there have been), they found/cleaned out a few more small acorn shells (!) causing the rumble, noise now gone, and I'm ready for my business trip tomorrow (Saturday) in upstate New York. This is a five star review for them making good on their service of a few days ago and doing what they said they'd do in time for me to keep to my schedule. This sure beats going to the quick change places which in my experience are notorious for upselling "things they find" when only asked to change the oil. Good neighbors! read more

Stay way! This place is bad, and the manager James is passive-aggressive, and mean. We made an appointment to get our muffler fixed. We waited about 1 1/2 hours and James said he was "evaluating" it. Then he said, "How long do you think an evalution takes? ", Followed by, "what are your expectations on how long a muffler job takes", then another opened ended question, "What amount of time do you think it takes to price the job", followed by more questions to me without giving me an answer. Then he said, "Go to another business to have your car fixed". Wow!!! Several times when we went up to the counter he made belive we weren't there. Very rude person!!! I wonder what the owner of the Orleans Midas would think if he knew how rude James is? Very upsetting experience. We will never go back. read more

I rolled into the shop for a straightforward battery change, and they threw in a free "wiper fluid top-off"--like I'd just hit the jackpot! I left feeling like a champion, only to discover my windshield wipers were drier than the Sahara. No problem, I thought. I'll just top it off myself. Still nothing! Something was wrong with the part under the hood where the windshield wiper fluid comes from and spits out. So back I went, convinced my wiper fluid line had joined the witness protection program. I approached the same guy who'd handled communication between me and the mechanic, ready to unravel this mystery. He looked at me and said, "You're talking to the wrong guy," like I'd just asked him to recite Shakespeare instead of looking under the hood. He then called me "dear" in that condescending tone, as if I were a confused toddler trying to understand how to tie my shoes. I wouldn't return to someone who treats women like they're auditioning for a role in a bad sitcom. He spoke to me like I'd just failed a pop quiz and had zero ideas on how to fix his blunder. Then he had the nerve to say, "Come back tomorrow"--as if I'd willingly walk into that circus again! No thanks, I'd rather binge-watch paint dry! read more

I am SO pleased with the quick service appointment, next day! The guys at Orleans Midas really know their stuff and all were very pleasant, polite and helpful. They repaired my exhaust issues and I was on my way! ALSO, being a very hot day, and having to wait for my repair, the waiting room was very cool and comfortable. This is now my go to shop for car repairs. While I miss our friends at Ingersoll Auto in CT, we now live here on Cape Cod and we found Dave & John at this Midas to be supper helpful at car repairs, and just supper people to work with. Our car is just starting to show it's age and we had new struts, brakes, and front end work and alignment done here. We also were fortunate enough to be on the road and only a quarter mile away from their shop when our car started to make a horrific winding noice. I made it to the shop and Dave moved a vehicle out of a bay, brought ours in and diagnosed the problem and went to work fixing our power steering. We had been shopping, had perishables including ice cream and Dave put it in their freezer while work was done. We truly recommend these guys as they are fair and thoughtful business men. read more

We were so worried our morning would be spent all day waiting for this battery change. We were so grateful to have Dave help us. He was awesome! David from Midas was awesome. Truck broke down on our second to last day of vacation. We turned into Midas with smoke coming out of hood. David diagnosed brake caliper , hose issue and had it fixed the next day in time for hotel checkout. While on vacation in Provincetown this summer my car started making a terrible noise and lost quite a bit of power. I called Orleans Midas, they set up an appointment for the next day. They were friendly and courteous. The repair was done for a very reasonable price (under $100). I could not have been more relieved. The mechanic explained the problem as well as possible solutions. The repair was done quickly and I was back with my family in under three hours -- and back on vacation. Two months later the car is still running smoothly. If you have car trouble on the outer Cape, I would recommend Midas in Orleans based on this experience. read more

My 23-year-old daughter took her car in to this Midas with squeaky brakes. She was told that she needed new brake pads and rotors to the tune of $700. This didn't sound right because we had replaced the rotors less than a year ago. We had her take the car to another mechanic to get a second opinion and not only were the rotors "like new", but Midas had put her brake pads back on backwards. Stay away from this place. They have some shady people working there. read more

I had an emergency on the first day of vacation. These guys took the car in, worked on it quickly -- the work to be done wasn't hard but needed to be done before the car could be driven -- and didn't even charge us. If I lived nearby I'd bring my car here regularly. read more

Can't say enough good things about them! We were in a pinch and got a flat the morning we were leaving our summer house and the Manager said if we get over there quickly they would replace the two front tires right away! 45 minutes later I had two new tires and the price for the work was extremely reasonable. read more

My family and I came to Cape Cod on vacation from NJ and on the way we had a flat tire due to the alignment of our car being off. We booked an appointment with Midas to have it fixed before we left and to get a new tire. My husband communicated with the shop several times throughout the day we had an appointment to see if the tire had come in and see what time we should pick up the car. When he picked it up at 5pm, shortly before they closed, he was told their alignment machine had been broken since 8am and they had not fixed the alignment. They never called to inform us of this so we could try to get it fixed elsewhere before leaving to drive 6 hours home. This is completely unacceptable as now we are risking having the same problem on the way home. Completely unacceptable to not perform the service and not communicate even while we were in touch with them. read more

I had some tires mounted and balanced. This shop did a great job, got me in quickly, installed the tires, and had me on my way in abut 1.5 hours. Very professional service with friendly personnel who did not try to up-sell additional services. read more

Dave at Midas is the absolute best!! I'm vacationing at the Cape and got a flat tire on the way in. I went to a few other places looking for a tire. No one had the brand I needed so they wanted to see me two at a ridiculous rate. I came to Midas and explained my problem to Dave. He made a few phone calls and got me a tire at an extremely reasonable rate. Top notch service!! read more
