I had an accident in the snow recently and, had my first hospital experience, since arriving in…read moreGermany. As this place is the closest to where I live and, has an A&E department, it was as good a choice as any. Couple of the residents in the building warned me that language could be a challenge and, to expect long wait times. Language was a challenge specially when, you are not used to German and, more importantly German medical terms which are, quite different to English language terms.
When we arrived a lady came to see me and asked a few questions and, asked me to fill in a form which took about 2 mins. Not bad so far, and within 20 mins I was seen by a doctor and, sent to radiology for a scan. Within about 40mins I was back with the doctor who had my images on his computer screen and my diagnosis was done.
They treated me, wrote out my report, bandaged me up and, called a cab, so I could get home. Within about 1-1:15 I was out of the place. The staff were very helpful and, all but one person spoke only German. I had some difficulty but managed just the same.
I was very pleased with the facility, service and the doctor who treated me. I would happily use the A&E services here again. If you don't know the language bring a local with you or, have someone on the phone available just in case ;-) it would also help looking up basic medical terms :-)
