Micro Analytical is a certified independent asbestos testing agency that i found on the State Dept of Health's website. We decided to take our own samples (from a few different areas of the basement) to get tested vs getting upcharged by a contractor. It was $25 PER SAMPLE (each piece of tile and mastic were considered its own sample). If you have the same color/style tile in a certain space then you could bring a single tile (in a ziploc to them). If there's mastic glue attached to the tile then they can scrap it from there. That one tile would count as 2 samples - the tile and the glue - costing $50. I personally got each color of our checkered tile tested and the results came within 5 business days as promised. read more
