After moving to Summit County, I had trouble finding a decent salon and a good stylist that could give me a consistently professional haircut. I tried to stick with one stylist, but after trying several over an 18 month period with varying results, I caved in and decided to try a barbershop--Sal's--so glad I did! The shop is on two levels, with the chairs at street level and a reception area accessible from the slightly lower level parking lot behind the shop. I found the atmosphere to be comfortable, without a tacky decor. There was a nice range of clientele, from high school right on up to guys like me in their early 60s. The barbers there get it and do a nice job. I finally got a great cut (thanks, Trevor) that looked updated, easy to care for and age appropriate. I don't want to look like an old man and I don't want to try to look like I'm a 20-something. Finally looking forward to my next cut at a place I trust.

He gave me a very sophisticated, detailed short haircut, and solved some problem areas that I always struggle with in my hair, such as the back of my hairline. He made the back of my hairline look cool, something no other stylist has been able to do for a long time. And, Denny is funny and a good conversationalist, which I consider to be a plus. I disagree with the mean-spirited "review" that claims the salon is "dirty". The salon is fine, and is just as clean as any other salon I have been in. In fact, it is cleaner than the "fancy" salon I recently went to in Cleveland where they butchered my hair and charged me $90. Support local business and get a great haircut at the same time!! The barber was glued to court tv, and eating his lunch when I happened upon his business. Not only was the haircut average at best, but the conversation sucked, and the big one for me: no straight razor shave. Thank God they don't attempt straight razor shaves here because I'd probably walk out with the hiv. Chuck has a passion for his craft and has been making people look better for 40 years (or more...might have been 42 years). With a single chair and an appointment, there is no rush. Chuck is focused and diligent. Converses if you engage him, but is perfectly fine allowing time to pass is peace. I got the full treatment; hot towels on the face, straight razor beard lines, beard trim, shampoo, and cut. I left feeling like a million bucks. I used to go to a "salon" in Tallmadge where I was usually the only guy that was ever in there, so I decided to start going to an old fashioned style barber. The place in Tallmadge always managed to leave stray hairs uncut so I would have to go home after with a mirror and scissors and trim what they missed. I've never had to do that with Michelle as she is very thorough. This is definitely the place I will always go for a haircut. Just make sure you bring cash, no cards accepted.

I feel like I finally found it! Originally, I just needed to find someone who could cut hair and be consistent. That turned out to be Rachel. I tried two other salons and a barbershop--three cuts at each place (nine cuts) and all nine cuts were wonky. Rachel fixed what the barbershop guy hacked up. Now, through about five cuts with her, she's given me a youthful style that has looked good every time! It's more than just a haircut that keeps me coming back. I wanted to get my wife something nice for her birthday, so I got her the 'Deep Release' pedicure and bought a visit for me, too, so we could do it as a couple. We got Hanna and Amanda and they were great--so friendly and fun! The sugar scrub, foot mask, massage and even polishing (yes, I did--why not?) were relaxing and enjoyable. Oh, and the wine they served us was also quite delicious! That was in fall and my wife wanted to come back, so we were able to sneak in another pedicure just before the holidays. After another enjoyable visit, we knew pedicure season would be ending, so we booked facials with Hanna and Amanda--neither of us had ever had a facial. Now we have enjoyed two really great facial visits that were great ways to find relaxation at the end of stressful work days. I really feel like we found a consistently good salon staffed by skilled professionals who are also warm and welcoming people.
