I love Michael Stars clothing, and I've been a loyal customer for years, but after my recent experience making a return I'll only buy their clothes in-store going forward. The process of returning their clothes is easy, BUT plan on waiting 5 WEEKS for a refund from the day that you ship your item back. In this day and age it is unacceptable. They also don't have the option of reaching a customer service rep (human being) by phone, and they don't have an online chat on their website. The only way to reach a customer service rep is via email. They do respond to emails, but only repeat their returns policy that is stated on their website. I feel sad making this review, especially considering they are a SoCal business, but they need to do better. read more

If you have any issues after the sale, expect NO LENIENCY with their 30-day return policy. I tried calling over the weekend and the Customer Service voicemail was full. I finally got a reply from someone via the online message option, and basically NO RECOURSE on 4 of the Remi V-neck t-shirts that are TOO SHORT! I wear mid-rise jeans and my belly sticks out, such a PAIN! Material was thin and cheap as well! I now have $200 worth of t-shirts that I will now donate to GOODWILL. :( DO NOT BUY DIRECT!!!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. UPDATE: 12/13/25 the manager Sudie did contact me and sent me shipping labels to return the items for a full refund. Now this is excellent customer service! This is a very positive update to my previous review of one star. Once they saw my message, they were INCREDIBLY helpful, especially Sudie Smith. Andres Campos was very helpful as well. Sudie called me directly and helped me figure out the issue with my returns and remedied it immediately. They helped me with other questions I had around returns and orders as well. Like previous reviews, getting a refund seems impossible. I mailed my return on 6/29 and tracking shows it's been out for delivery since 7/5. I reached out to customer service on 7/10, and Andy confirmed that the item was received by the warehouse on 7/8 and a refund can take as long as 2 weeks. It's now been 2 1/2 weeks and nothing. I reached out again on 7/22 and still haven't received a response. And, there is no customer service phone number. Such a joke for what should be a reputable company. They need to refund my return and it's absurd that there is no easy channel of communication. I certainly will not be purchasing another item again! read more

I really love their basics -- the ones made in downtown LA. Some pieces aren't worth the price though. I recently ordered a cotton gauze long sleeve button up shirt and it was not reflective of the usual MS quality. I returned it and am still waiting for a refund. The the one star is for their lack of customer service. For the money they charge, one would think this area of their business would be up to par. Sadly, I think things started to kind of dwindle when Michael Cohen (the founder) passed away in 2015. There used to be free standing stores too! Now you can just buy from their website or at select stores. Maybe I'll give MS a try again but I'll stick to the tried and true cotton basics because I know those are amazing quality. Customer service is sub-par to say the least. Paid an additional fee to have my item arrive in 3-4 business days. I ordered September 12th prior to noon PST and it is now September 20th with still no order. I have sent numerous emails to Michael Stars customer service as there is no option to reach this company via phone. They continued to bury their heads in the sand and do nothing instead of problem solve. Beyond frustrated! Update...just got off a call with a UPS business manager that relayed Michael Stars held onto the product for 5 days prior to releasing to UPS on the 18th even with my $15 3-4 business day shipping option. I wish I had checked reviews on Yelp, Trustpilot, and other sites before buying from this company. I returned an item, which was confirmed received on 7/22, and it's been nearly four weeks with no refund in sight. Despite countless attempts to contact customer service and leaving messages, I've received no response. I'm now forced to escalate this to my credit card company, and it could take weeks, if I even get my refund. This level of dishonesty has left me furious, and I will never shop here again. read more

I returned 2 tops that confirmed returned back on 7-19. It is now August 17th and I still haven't received a credit back to my credit card. I have sent many emails to customer service and no-one has got back to me. I'm now forced to contact my credit card to get my refund. I have the documents you have received the merchandise. Great once a year sample sale. Get on their mailing list to find out dates and be sure to stop in for some great bargains. I love their cotton tees and henleys. Paying $10 for them is way more awesome than their retail prices. Sure you won't find exactly what you're looking for, but that's half the fun. Left with 2 sweaters, a hooded henley, a tank top, a long sleeve top and 2 sweatshirts...all for $100 bucks! Yay. read more

I have purchased many Michael Stars tops and dresses over the years so this review is not about the merchandise! As a sales person, i am ingrained to notice sales, marketing and customer service behaviors everywhere i do business. I was so disappointed when i called customer service 2 -3 times between 8am and 10.15am and only received a pre recorded message of "mailbox is full" and no live person? I was simply trying to get a top in a different color than the store had and thought it would be easy to do with headquarters a short distance away! As a result of my experience i suggest they always have professional people on the phone line, availability for customers to leave messages versus making it so difficult and not leaving a positive impression for the brand. Why would such a great brand behave this way? This is so impt as first impressions r everything to me! This is an easy fix! Thank u! read more

Stopped in for the sample sale. The men's selection during the sample sale was not the greatest. Very odd styles and designs I would not be caught dead wearing. BUT.....I picked up several items for my girls. T-shirts were as low as $5.00. They clothing is very nice fabrics and quality merchandise. Michael Stars is great - until you need to return merchandise. The customer line goes straight to voicemail, and the mailbox is full. I've tried numerous times to contact them by filling out the online contact form, as well as sending emails to customer service directly. Still no response after a week. My advise if you like their pieces, purchase from a retail store. DO NOT order online. read more

I love these products. They are super soft, great quality and I don't feel like I am being robbed everytime I purchase something. Yes, their customer service needs some tweaking, but by and large, I love the sales and the fact that I can throw on these clothes to go to get coffee in the morning and look put together without looking like I am trying to hard. read more

I purchased a pair of Artsy Girl glasses from my optometrist and approximately one year later the right arm fell off due to a faulty design. The arm was attached by a spring loaded rod; once it became detached, could not be reattached. Michael Stars tried to reinvent the wheel and failed miserably.
