"The best there ever was. The best there ever will be."

"The best there ever was. The best there ever will be." A quote found right underneath the Michael Jordan statute at the United Center. The statute is no longer located outside the arena but is now placed inside the East Atrium at the United Center. We came here straight from the airport on a Friday morning around 9:30am and the United Center was open. Contrary to what I saw on their website (no backpacks and no selfie sticks), they allow backpacks and selfie sticks on non-game days. There is just a security checkpoint where they make you remove your jacket and bags and cellphones. We came on a non-game day while the Bulls were away and parking on a Friday morning was FREE. There is a parking lot directly where the statute is located. The Chicago Bulls & Blackhawks store is located where the statute is but opens at 10am. We took photos and waited til the store opened. It was pretty cool because they have Bulls memorabilia, a life size trophy and a mini Bulls basketball court for kids (although my husband still went on it). We came to Chicago because my husband is a huge Michael Jordan fan and we drove here straight after visiting MJ's home about 30 minutes away from here. I would recommend checking it out, going to this statute then grabbing lunch at Michael Jordan's Restaurant in Oak Brook!

Funny, a lot of these photos showed it outside, but when we realized it was inside, it was because they build a building around the statue to extend the stadium. As a first timer in Chicago, this was one of the "must-see" destinations, especially if you're basketball fan. The statute is next to a little gift shop store with a bunch of hockey and basketball gear and souvenirs. You will have to go through security check point before you get a chance to take a photo next to Michael Jordan. It was pretty simple and fast, so just place all items in your bag or bring out any electronics for the guard to see. Other than that, definitely a must see & highly recommend others to check it out! (Note: it is away - East - of all the tourist destinations, so I'd recommend ubering or lyfting there)

Pretty cool statue of Michael Jordan! It's located inside the atrium. There's also a store inside with lots of Bulls and Blackhawks gear that you can get. There's a train car inside that has large interactive screens where you can take pictures/videos of yourself with a background of your choice.

    The best ever!

Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all-time!!! Finally had the opportunity to stop by the United Center to admire his statue. Was not disappointed. The statue was moved to a different location because of construction. It can be found at the back of the United Center building instead of the front. The statue of MJ looked awesome! Took plenty of pics to help preserve the memories! If you are a Michael Jordan fan, then I highly recommend checking out this MJ landmark! You will not regret it! 5 stars!!!

My girlfriend is obsessed with basketball and has wanted to come here since she was young and we finally made it! We are from Cali so this is like a big deal for us to come to Chicago and see this. The only problem is there is no map so we got dropped off in the front and still walked alllllll the way around the building.*get dropped off at the hockey statues and go straight in. Disclaimer. They do check you purse and you do have to go through a metal detector. It was worth it.

A dream come true. He really wanted to come here 7/3/2017

I only came here because my God son is a huge Bulls fan. (Gooooo Lakers) We traveled from Las Vegas & California and his one request was to see the G.O.A.T. Michael Jordan statue. I did read online that they removed the statue from outside and moved it inside and you can see it if the United Center is open. I was scared that he wasn't going to see it because I called the location and was on hold for OVER 1 HOUR. No joke really, I was on hold that long :( so I just hung up. I just took a leap of faith and drove down there our last day of our trip which was a Monday around 1pm. To our luck "it was open" and my munchkin was super excited. What made it worth it was... NO PARKING FEE to go here. (Omg I spent an arm and a leg parking in Chicago) yes I'm not lying. Parking was free!!!!! When we got inside, the face on my God son's face was priceless. As much as I'm a die hard Laker fan, it was great to pay respect to the legend MICHAEL JORDAN! The Bulls gift shop was open so I had to get my God son something since it was his birthday. He ended up wanting a Chicago Bulls hat that costed me $55 dollars (same hat can be bought at LIDS + you can get a second one for half off lol I'm just saying) I bought my bestfriend a Bulls Shot glass and lanyard for his Keys. Totally cost of my purchase $98. Well it wasn't that bad considering I didn't have to pay for parking lol This is totally worth seeing when in Chicago. Just be carful cause it isn't located in the best park of the city.

The Michael Jordan Statue is one of the coolest things in Chicago. Everyone should see it up close at least once.

Looking online, there appeared to be more to it…read more But it's literally about a mile of murals, up and down the overpasses, in Rogers Park, a neighborhood of Chicago. The murals focus mainly on Chicago history, history of the Rogers neighborhood, Audubon birds, and a few other subjects. The murals are nice overall, though some are poorly kept. I don't think they've been updated in a long time. My favorite was the Barack Obama mural. It's easier to walk them than drive them because there is very little parking and a ton of one way streets. I drove quite a ways out to this neighborhood, through Lakeshore Drive traffic. If you're in the area, go for it. There is a cute little pedestrian only street with a tavern and quaint shops. But don't drive from the outskirts just for this.

The goal of this project is to paint from Estes to Pratt, covering the retaining wall along the Red Line in artwork. There are still five block-long sections of this project remaining to complete. All of the works are cool. My favorite, however, is "Connect Origins to Destinations: The History of Rogers Park". It tells the story of Rogers Park from its early days as a home to Potawatomi. The Indian Boundary Line, for which Indian Boundary Park is named, is located at Rogers & Clark... unfortunately, there's a commemorative plaque praising the negotiation skills of white men with the native peoples to cede Chicago to them, but that's a story for another time. I loved learning things about this neighborhood I never knew before through this large -scale art project.

Upon a close-up inspection recently, I noticed that the eyes were not pronounced and that they seem to be expressionless as the grayness of their cast figures suggest. Almost as if it was just another day going through the same routine- wake up, go to work, eat, sleep---REPEAT. It reminds me in a way of Andy Warhol's Campbells Soup Can-we live from one meal to the next. About the Artist: Ju Ming (1938-) was originally trained as a woodcarver; however, his work evolved into sculpting in bronze in addition to other materials such as styrofoam, stainless steel as well as other mediums. He became well known in Taiwan during the 1970s and later in 1983 in New York City when he had individual exhibition of Living World Series: A Pair of Classical People at the Max Hutchinson Gallery. This piece in particular, is regarded as one of the most important works among the early production of the Living World Series. Ming's Living World Series appears or suggests that his work may evolve from his perception of the world around him; however, he has been quoted as saying that there is no one interpretation or set interpretation designated in his intention to create his sculptures. There are other parts of The Living World Series including "Imprisonment"which has drawn attention to his style of thought provoking sculpture. FYI-This Public Piece of art was purchased by Eagle Holdings, which is the parent group of the Langham Hospitality Group.
