I have been a patient of Dr. Chandlers for 25 years. He has always made time for me in times of medical difficulties and fit me in for emergency visits. He explains everything clearly, in terms I can understand. I will never forget his generosity many years ago, after I lost my health insurance and he still saw me without charging me. In recent years he introduced me to a treatment that has changed my health in a dramatic way that has improved my health immeasurably while reducing my visits and thus his income. His patients come first and for that I am grateful. I trust him completely. read more

My allergy and asthma significantly improved under Dr. Chandler's treatment. He is very knowledgeable in his craft. I cannot be happier to have found this doctor through friend's recommendation. Highly recommend him to anyone. read more

My husband came here after we read the "great" reviews from Yelp. Um...this man (Dr. Chandler) is not a patient doctor, he was walking out the door before my husband had a chance to ask questions about his health. My husband almost died from an allergy reaction we weren't clear about, and this is all new to us. Since he almost died we'd hope for thorough examination, testing and explanation from the doctor - since this is a health threat we took it seriously. Unfortunately, Dr. Chandler does not. I hope doctors like him receive the same treatment they give to others whenever they become sick. Karma! read more

Dr. Chandler and his staff kind of remind me of my late grandfather (ala v'shalom): gruff, really smart, well-meaning, and very caring under that sometimes prickly exterior. They see a crazily high volume of patients, but Dr. Chandler has always struck me as really efficient, rather than rushed. When I have questions, he always answers them, and he and his partners have taken terrific care of me through some difficult and very miserable respiratory ailments over the years (taking my insurance when I had it and working with me on a reasonable self-pay rate when I did not). I'm definitely a fan. read more

Dr. Chandler was heaven sent. I had endured years and years of being unable to breathe, smell, taste or sleep properly. I had had five surgical procedures of my sinuses. I had been to no fewer than 4 top ENT docs and/or allergists in NYC. I had tried every OTC med known to man; done food elimination diets; removed carpeting from home; purchased air filters, plants - you name it to try and find some improvement. Long story short - 1 year later working with Dr. Chandler I am a new person. No one in my life can believe the difference in my health and in my ability to breathe freely, taste, smell, sleep. I sometimes have to pinch myself because it's like a dream. I can NOT thank Dr. Chandler enough for his dogged pursuit to find a 'fix' for my condition and for his thorough and disciplined manner. Dr. Chandler is a MUST go to Doc! M. Sullivan, NYC read more

If you have sinusitis and/or asthma, see Dr Chandler first. Dr Chandler vastly improved the quality of my life. I am remiss in taking almost four years to write this review. I came to Dr Chandler four years ago after a a two year ordeal with sinusitis and related asthma. Doctor after doctor would either prescribe a whole bunch of meds and send me on my way after a cursory glance up my nostrils OR they'd suggest I get surgery. Dr Chandler: A) Runs tests and find out what might be causing the problem. B) Takes pictures of your sinus passages so he (and you) can actually see if his prescribed medications are working. C) Adjusts your treatment plan based on what he sees in the pictures (and of course what you're feeling) at each appointment. In contrast all of the other sinus specialists I had seen before him simply take a real time look at each appointment. How possibly can they remember how MY sinus passages looked weeks or months earlier. I wasn't able to completely avoid surgery since things were too far gone by the time I got to Dr Chandler. However, thanks to his advanced techniques (using specially formulated nasal rinses combined with more traditional oral medications) and methodical adjustments of his medication regimen we were able to significantly decrease the scope of the eventual surgery. Unfortunately, thanks to the damage that was done before meeting Dr Chandler, my poor sinuses will never be fully healed. As Dr Chandler put it "your sinuses are like a car that's been repaired after a severe accident. They're functional and you can use them again but they're held together with bondo and will need regular repairs." Did I mention his unique but very enjoyable sense of humor? In the years that have followed I have continued on a regular rinsing routine which keeps flare ups mostly to a quarterly if not semi-annual schedule. When my sinusitis does flare up, I return to Dr Chandler. We take some pics. He adjusts my meds. And, most of the time, I'm back to normal within a week or two. When infections are a bit more stubborn we return to the process I mentioned above: a systematic approach to solving the problem. His staff is friendly, efficient, and extremely helpful. I have gone out of my way to send people his way in the past four years. I hope this review will send even more. read more

Ok, I have this slightly unreasonable...wait no, paranoid fear of doctors/dentists. I hate needles and abhor the sight of blood. That being said, Dr. Chandler is great!! This is even after the use of needles and this tube-like thing that was stuck up my nose (which btw, has this really cool voice-recognition feature that he INVENTED HIMSELF) And no, I found out I don't have any allergies, but he is the first doctor to diagnosis the cause of my terrible bi-tri-annual cough. (TONSILS! More specifically, stupidly infected adenoids!!) His bedside manner is great, he is patient and answers all my questions. He (and his nurse) also explain what they are doing while they poke and prod you - which I greatly appreciate. Too bad for him that he fixed me though, cause otherwise I would definitely go back! :) read more

I', so happy i went to him! He was able to see me in a very short notice. I had horrible symptoms for about a week and i decided that i can't have another sleepless night with pain and fear of suffocation. So i arrived on time and filled out the paperwork. His assistants are dolls, they were super nice and very helpful. After just a couple of minutes waiting he called me in. Within 15-20 minutes i was out of there with the diagnosis (seasonal ashma). I got the medication and i payed much less than i expected. He was great, fast,he knows what he is doing,so 3 thumbs up for Dr. Chandler!! I took the medicin and i'm feeling so much better already. Looking forward to have a good night sleep after a week. I got a feeling, that tonight's gonna be a good night :)))) read more

Dr. Chandler has been my allergist since 2003, and has seen me through two different sinus surgeries, as well as a career that has increasingly involved more travel. What I love about Dr. Chandler is his realistic and pragmatic approach to healthcare, combined with an attitude that feeling "just ok" isn't good enough. He is a clear and direct communicator, and he also makes me feel like we'll get to the ultimate solution. I also love that he remains engaged in his specialty and knows the latest and greatest with new medications/treatments that are on the market. I have recommended him whole heartedly to my office staff, my friends and my family. read more

While Dr. Chandler may be gruff at times, he is an excellent diagnostician. I also did not have allergies and he immediately identified the cause of my problem, a sinus infection. When I had a bad reaction to the prescribed antibiotic, he was very responsive and called my internist to consult with him. I have seen him over the past 20 years, and always go back when I have a problem! He's a really good guy, just not a charmer. read more

I don't understand the great reviews on him. Can it be his staff, friends, and family members that are having over him? He has horrible bedside manners. He doesn't listen to the patient's needs, cuts you off when talking, and simply seems annoyed by patients. He's your TYPICAL doctor that's in it for the money and that's all. He had no patience at all during my visit. Dr. Chandler saw me for less than 5 minutes and the appointment felt rushed. I didn't even get to explain all my symptoms. My vitals were never checked and this was my first time here. Aren't they supposed to establish a base line or something? What a WASTE of time and MONEY. I took off from work to go to this appointment. For him to dismiss me in such a way is unacceptable. Keep away from this allergist and do your research before picking this guy. Michael, if you are reading this, you'll not always understand everything and you may need things to be explained as you age. Maybe once you run into rude and obnoxious health care providers like yourself, then you will realize how it is to be on the other side. I hope you change your ways and treat your patients with the respect they deserve. It looks like that article in the news turned you into an egotistical prick. read more

I just tried to make an appointment with Dr. Chandler, after being refereed to him by my GP. His RUDE receptionist, asked me about my symptoms (as if she has an MD), refuses to give me an appointment with Dr. Chandler, and said would only let me see the other doctor at the practice. I'm having severe allergies causing asthma and chronic cough, and i was told Dr. Chandler doesn't see patients with my symptoms, i also have food and air related allergies. I'm so confused. Then what kind of doctor is he? What DOES he see? You got to wonder, what kind of doctor and his staff doesn't have a crap about patients? read more

Nothing special about Dr. Chandler. Having been to allergists in different places I've lived before, I'd compare him as slightly below par. The reason for the 2 star rating though is his office staff. If you question them they become immediately rude and defensive. read more

Prior to seeing Dr. Chandler, I saw an ENT about 18 months ago for "massive sinus infections" that required CAT scans and heavy-duty antibiotics for extended periods of time. Since moving to NYC in September, I struggled with what I thought was allergies. Dr. Chandler said I'm not allergic to the allergens he tested me for, other than dust, but said I did have a sinus infection. So, he fixed me up with some Nasonex and antibiotics and I'm feeling a lot better. Dr. Chandler conducted a very thorough examination and asked me all the right questions. Calm and soft spoken, he has an excellent bedside manner. I was impressed by his high-tech equipment, including speech recognition software and a nasal scope that he invented. He did an excellent job of reviewing my nasal exam with me and explaining what was amiss, etc. He's been rated one of the best doctors in NY by New York Magazine for several years and after visiting him myself I see why. I was able to get an appointment within a few days of calling, another plus. The admin staff were particularly helpful with assisting me in battling my insurance company to get prior authorization for Nexium. The only negative thing about my visit was that a nurse stuck me with a bunch of needles before telling me what she was doing so my arm jerked away, causing more pain for me and slightly tampering with the control site. read more

I've been treated for my allergies by Dr. Chandler for 15 years. I now go for allergy shots once a month, and I almost don't remember that I have allergies. The cost for the allergy shots is very reasonable (especially since my medical insurance doesn't cover allergy treatment--stupid plan!) read more

This doctor is very rude and unfriendly and was not helpful at all. He kept interrupting me and getting irritated at me as I was trying to describe my issues. He ended up charging my insurance company a fortune ... at the end he suggested that I continue the same medicine with which I was self-medicating before I went to him. I wouldn't go to him for anything. read more

After half a dozen frustrating and ineffective meetings for years with other allergists in the city, I randomly found Dr. Chandler's office over six years ago and am EXTREMELY glad I did. After a thorough screening and testing - including the very cool scope - Dr. Chandler was able to quickly deduce my allergy problems, patiently answer my questions and help me not only tackle a brutal allergic reaction but plan a course of action that enabled me to overcome the variety of allergies I actually have while still keeping our two pets. My pre- and post- world surrounding meeting Dr. Chandler is just amazing. He really got to the root of the problem and I live now in a clear, itch-free, blotch-free, non-runny and totally unstuffed and beautifully breathable world. Dr. Chandler is a very busy doctor but always takes careful and succinct notes, takes time to inquire after general health/matters and always seems to remember details from one annual meeting to the next. Our meetings are brief (this is fine - I am not his only patient!) but to the point and always effective. I prize this allergist and would highly recommend him to anyone who is suffering with allery-related issues. read more

I will make this short and sweet. 6 years of compromised taste and smell. 6 years of daily obsession over my condition as I constantly had pressure, mucus, etc. in my sinuses. Two sinus surgeries with little relief. Countless different doctors, holisitc medicine, supplements, acupuncture...ANYTHING to try and fix this. Nothing worked. I am a very happy person who was living a suppressed life for nearly 6 years. Was at my wits end. Went to Chandler who, yes, is not the most suave in dealing with patients, but he made my heart flutter when he looked at me and said, "I'm going to put the fire out." He prescribed me a solution to use in my nose twice a day. I am a new person. I am spending all my money on food and wine and booze (happily!). I am a voice over actor who succeeded in my field in spite of my problems, but now look forward to more confidence and therefore more booking. I used to sing in bands and now believe it's possible for me to get back there again! I would dream, basically daily, about meeting someone who would make it all better. That man was Michael Chandler. read more

Dr Chandler gave me back the life that I love to live. Prior to getting ill I have always enjoyed an active life style. Skiing, cycling, motorcycle riding on tracks and other physical endeavors. From out of nowhere I became short of breath along with horrible sinus and chest congestion. For over a year of constant doctors visits NO ONE could help me. I could not taste, smell or even walk 30 feet without getting out of breath. I finally ended up at Dr. Chandlers office at the recommendation of another doctor here in Westchester County. He quickly and finally diagnosed me after many doctors had tried and failed. Told me my case was one of the worse he has seen. He put me on a protocol for all my symptoms. It did take well over a year of tinkering with the med's etc. to get me on track. Even then I continued to need adjustments to my med's. But no matter how difficult my situation was Dr. Chandler stuck by me and never gave up. Now several years after starting to see Dr. Chandler I am thrilled to say I am completely symptom free as long as I continue to follow his protocol. Can once again ski as fast as I previously could. Can ride my bicycle up hills like the old days. Can taste and smell. Can walk and even run without getting out of breath. Without Dr. Chandler I would not once again be loving life. Cannot praise him enough. read more

I have been seeing Dr, Chandler for a good number of years after going to several other doctors for recurrent bouts of asthma which developed after a sinus operation. He was the first one to diagnose my asthmatic symptoms as secondary effects of chronic sinusitis, and to provide effective treatment for both conditions. read more

Dr. Chandler is an amazing doctor! I've been with him for about 5 years now. He has seen me through the very worst of times. Here's my advice. See him at least 3 times before passing judgement. Trust me on this. He warms up the longer he knows you. Don't keep talking. Explain your symptoms and be as quick and clear as possible. Then be quiet and listen. He has seen me through major sinus surgery and respiratory issues. He is the only Dr. I know who will stop whatever he is doing on the weekend or holiday to call you back if it's an emergency. If you're kind to his office staff they will be especially kind to you. Remember, you need their help. read more

I think Dr. Chandler is highly efficient, effective as a doctor. He told me I don't have allergies. I don't suffer from them anymore. I had shots for six years to trees, cats, dust and mold and they must have worked...however when I said I was thinking of getting a cat, he said, get a gun. I highly recommend him. I did not ever feel rushed and i thought his style was excellent. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Chandler. I've been going to him for years. He is an early adopter for technology and an excellent diagnostician. He iidentified several things that ended up not being allergies and sent me to the appropriate specialist. He also changed my life recommending a drug for my severe dog allergies that allows me to spend time with dogs. I'm a crazy dog lover and I'm so happy but wonder what the other doctors were thinking by not recommending this earlier? read more

The office is dirty. He is rushed, grumpy, and cold. His receptionists are terrible. I went there because he takes insurance.

I had high hopes going into my appointment after learning about Dr. Chandler from a friend who raved about him and after reading all of these Yelp reviews. I could not have been more disappointed. His bedside manner was horrible, and he could not have seemed more disinterested in me as a patient. My reaction was validated when I ran into a friend tonight who had the same experience last year. read more

Dr Michael Chandler has treated me for chronic sinusitis and mild asthma for two decades. I have struggled with several medical problems throughout my adult life and of the many doctors I have seen, Dr Chandler is clearly the best. He is thorough, focused on my needs, and patient (in dealing, for example, with my persistent sinus infections); he always explains in language I can understand the causes of problems and options for treatment; he is well informed about the newest treatment options and his practice employs the latest technologies; he is always available by phone and his office is run professionally (it is rare that I have to wait more than 5-10 minutes); he and his staff are without exception friendly and attentive. Clearly committed to patient care and, in my extensive experience, an expert diagnostician and practitioner, he is an exemplary physician in the truest sense of that word. I can honestly say that Dr Chandler has significantly improved the quality of my life and I cannot recommend him highly enough. read more

I have been going to Dr Chandler for many years. I used to be sick all the time. Within the first visit, he had all the right answers. In time, with meds, my sinus issue was under control or the first time in my life. He has calm, gently manner and is incredible proactive and smart. Office is efficient and clean! read more

Dr. Chandler is great. He knows what he is doing, he is patient, and he asks all the right questions. He is so thorough and well-educated that he immediately put me at ease. Most doctors seem to think if your symptoms aren't there when they see you, that they cannot be so bad. Dr. Chandler listened to my description of symptoms and from there conducted tests that led to him being the first person in 23 years to figure out what is wrong with my health! I could not recommend him more highly. read more

Dr. Chandler boasts "Best Dr." by NY Magazine for several years-- the covers of which hang proudly on his examining room wall. He was referred by my primary care provider, and he could not possibly have been less interested in me as a patient. When I saw him for the first time, he did not ask about my allergies but suggested that I have a sinus infection. I saw him again several weeks later to try to have him address my allergies (he is, after all, an allergist) and he then suggested that he could not treat my allergies -- that I should go to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and that they would be interested in studying me. He did not give me any information as to whom to contact or how to follow up. After repeated calls to his not enthusiastic staff and many hours of trying to communicate with Johns Hopkins for a referral in NYC (shouldn't there be an allergist in NYC?) I finally spoke to a wonderful administrator at Johns Hopkins who was able to direct me to several allergists who treat adults in NYC. What a waste of time with Dr. Chandler and his office! I have to wonder why he was ever NY Magazines Best Dr. choice. Must have little to do with actual medical practice. read more
