Not bad but nit the best. We had Mi Tierra Nachos and Chicken Enchiladas. Both okay but had to send them both back for not being prepared as ordered. They were corrected and okay on the next round. The staff were nice and pleasant. Drinks- The Dilemma was good the Top Shelf Margarita was just ok. Didn't do our normal second round. Atmosphere is not as lively or appealing as some of the other locations. Highland park is my personal favorite. read more

Ended up here again one weekend afternoon since it is one of my friends favorite place, he and his wife come at least once a week. I got the Queso Bowl $9.95 and added beef $2.00 upcharge. The queso was as good as I remember. It is a good size to share too. I got the El Ray's plate $14.95 this time to try something different. This was just okay, the beans and rice are generic. The cheese enchilada was meh, the tamale wasn't bad but it is weird that no sauce is put on top of it, kind of dry. The beef taco was the best part but still pretty expensive for the quality of food you get. The portion size is not bad and the service was excellent. I am sure I will end up back here again and will try something else. read more

Service was borderline but not terrible. I ordered the ribeye. The waiter prompted "medium-well." I countered with "medium-rare." He repeated "medium-well." I again said "medium-rare" while rolling the "r." He finally got it right. I should have taken this as a warning of what to expect. Wife ordered Latin Stir Fried side and two scrambled eggs. Food came out quickly and was fresh and hot. I had substituted sliced avocado for the guacamole. The avocado had brown spots all over it. The medium-rare ribeye was gray through and through. I am old school, meaning, if there isn't pink or red the meat should get thrown in the fire. Too far gone for consumption. I had been out in the thunderstorm several times and was wet to the core. It wasn't a battle worth fighting. The bean soup was pretty good. The steak was edible, but just barely. My wife's stir fry had been cooked in some nasty oil that overshadowed the delicate flavors of the veggies. She ate the eggs and left the veggies. Fortunately, the tea was good and usually was cold enough to be satisfying. It is so disappointing to spend close to $40 for two people to have mediocre or inedible food. Maybe next time. :( read more

What an incredible lunch my wife and I had! Service, even during the "rushed" lunch hour was very attentive by our server. First off, a basket of piping hot chips and Mi Cocina's incredible salsa. I wish I could steal the recipe. It's one of the best restaurant salsas around. Spicy enough to keep it interesting and make you eat WAY too many chips. I ordered the lunch special that had two enchiladas of choice with sunset sauce, spicy queso. I opted for the spinach enchiladas. I love Mi Cocia's rice and beans. Pretty impressed with our first take out order. Chips were thicker than average, crunchy, fresh and much nicer packaged than any other tex mex we've done take out from in Las Colinas. Salsa was very good. They also included a cup of a second spicier salsa that I really liked, not sure what it was, but would certainly make an effort to include more on our next visit. We ordered mamas tacos and brisket tacos. Both nicely packaged. I liked that they took the time to grill the flour tortillas for the brisket tacos, and quite enjoyed them, even heated up after a happy hour delay. Wife gave an "ok" to the mamas tacos, which I'd translate that she enjoyed them as a healthier choice, but might not rush to order again. The grilled green onion on the mama's tacos got quickly jettisoned from her plate. Also credit that they make several different types of rice, to complement best whatever they're beside. Came with the fam to eat here, it will be our one and only time. Food poisoning has a way of turning us off! We were all sick within 90 minutes of eating here, even our 3 year olds had upsets stomachs; and now they are throwing up in the middle of the night. This is how kids die-choking on vomit in their sleep. This was the only meal they had after this bc everyone was too sick for anything else. Do you know how disgusting the kitchen has to be and how outdated food has to be to give a whole family food poisoning? (Coming from a rest owner) It has to be bad in their kitchen and the staff clearly doesn't care....unless something was done on purpose. I hate to contemplate either option. This location is nothing like the other Mi Cocina restaurants: we were ignored for 10 minutes until I had to find someone to send a server. We ordered the same meals we always do when eating at Mi Cocina, but they all came with different garnishes, the beans were even different, etc. Just an awful experience, would not recommend. read more
