Cesar gave me a call and advised me the diagnostic cost was not worth the used selling price of the RAM. He reminded me it is a single stick, and needs a matched pair to run most efficiently. It would be a hard sale even with a RAM shortage going on. Instead he told me how I could do a full reset of the motherboard to try and verify the RAM myself. As a female business owner running a publication, the developer repeatedly minimized serious functional issues by labeling them as merely "cosmetic." In reality, these were not cosmetic issues at all--they impacted presentation, credibility, and the integrity of a live publication platform. For a business website, particularly a magazine platform, those details matter. Unfortunately, this interaction revealed a deeper issue: a lack of respect for the client's standards and vision. The implication that these concerns were simply "cosmetic" reflects a misunderstanding of professional publishing and the expectations of a serious business owner. Ironically, this experience will likely become material for a future editorial discussion in my magazine's upcoming issue, as it highlights a broader and very real conversation about professionalism, accountability, and how female-led businesses are sometimes dismissed in technical industries.
