We first had drinks at this restaurant on our way to another place for dinner. The mezcal cocktails we had were amazing. Normally I don't even like mezcal but this was so much nicer than I have ever tasted. The smokiness didn't overwhelm the drink and was just a hint of flavor. I ordered the Paloma which I loved. My husband had a standard margarita which also was delicious.
Tonight we decided to return and have dinner there as the photos on yelp and TripAdvisor looked really good. Overall our experience was also a very good one. I tried a passionfruit margarita, but really couldn't taste much of the passionfruit so I went back to the Paloma and was very happy with that. I don't remember my husband's first cocktail, but his second one was the Albazul which was amazing. The flavors were so unique with the Frenet Branca and the basil was so fragrant. It sounds kind of strange, but it was amazing. For dinner, my husband had the chicken tacos with a special black salsa (I can't remember the name) and he absolutely loved them. I had vegan tacos with a variety of greens in them including one that is indigenous to the area. It was good, very unusual and I loved the green salsa on top. I think it could have used more to give it a bit more flavor, but overall I liked them. Also, I love cheese and for me some sort of cheese would add some flavor. However, as a vegan taco they were very tasty.
This place is super cool inside and perhaps if we make it back we will actually eat inside. The decor and architecture is really beautiful. The service was very good and we were able to talk to our waiter a bit and he filled us in on mezcal and gave us some advice for purchasing it at home. Overall, it was really nice evening and we truly enjoyed ourselves. read more
