My wife and I were on vacation and wanted to have some authentic Mexican food. Oddly enough our resort had minimal Authentic Mexican food options. We enjoy cooking and learning about the local culture and Mexico Lindo Cooking (MLC) was the perfect choice. MLC picked us up from our resort 60+ minutes away and provide transportation to and from our resort. The driver was nice and vehicle was clean and cool. We arrive at MLC after we drive down a trail and it's a quaint little location with their own garden and chickens out front. It was the perfect (NOT touristy) location. We were met by Claudia, our Sous Chef who was super nice. Claudia sat us down and gave us some delicious Mayan coffee and pastries to enjoy while we waited on another couple to arrive. There were a total of four paying customers. Chef Alejandra arrived and was very personable. Chef gave us a tour of the property and her Organic garden. We were given a brief history of Mexico and the region and how Mexican food came to be. Immediately following, we were got our aprons on and got to cooking with hands-on responsibilities. The whole time we not only are learning interesting history about the area/country but also facts about the food and how culture has effected what we are preparing. Chef had two other assistants in the Kitchen (Mari and Rorberto) and all of us were working towards a delicious culinary adventure. We cooked, talked and laughed for over 5 hours. At the end of our fantastic meal, we were not rushed away, we had some great conversation with our hosts and fellow guests. Chef mentioned that they participate in "Culinary Vacations" and we will definitely be considering that for our next visit. Pro-Tip: Book directly through the MLC Website www.MexicoLindoCooking.com. We found them on TripAdvisor but TripAdvisor did not say they offered transportation. Fortunately, my wife went straight to the website to research and found the transportation option.

We came down to the Cancun/Riviera Maya for a 1 week vacation and we were so happy that Mexico Lindo was an option for an excursion outside of the normal recommendations from our concierge. They offer a different type of class every day so find out which day teaches what. We went for the tamale's of Mexico class which was a blast! Alejandra and her team are great and very eager to provide a nice experience! From the great breakfast all the was through to the lunch feast, they were accommodating and had many stories to tell. We were so thankful we did Mexico Lindo and will go back every time we go back to the Riviera Maya! -Kevin & Subiana

6 of us attended cooking classes yesterday. Our experience was exactly what we were looking for. A true Mexican cultural experience through food. Chef Alejandra was very welcoming and knowledgeable. She was also very patient with our two teenagers (14 and 12) teaching them valuable knife and cooking skills. The foods we prepared were simple yet so incredibly full of flavor and Mexican culture. At the end of cooking, we got to sit down to a delicious feast that we prepared. The whole experience from start to finish was enjoyable and well worth the time and money. I can't say enough good about Mexico Lindo Cooking and Chef Alejandra.. Highly recommend it - we will definitely go back next time we are in Puerto Morelos!

Alejandra and her team were absolutely amazing. They were flexibly with our booking, offering our group a private event when there wasn't availability for our preferred time online. In addition, they accommodated both a pescatarian and a shrimp allergy! The location was charming and bright. Alejandra was personal, engaging and full of knowledge and interesting facts. This PLUS everything we prepared, ate and drank was delicious. This was the highlight of our trip. Highly recommend! read more
Absolutely fabulous! We had an amazing cooking class with Alejandra. We cooked a variety of salsas and accompaniments which could be switched around with each other in a complementary manner read more

A great cultural and culinary experience. I attended this class on a surprise birthday trip and I've got to say it was a day well spent I learned about history, culture, science and culinary techniques all in one experience. Ale is an amazing teacher and makes the most basic dishes taste like a 5 star meal attention to detail impeccable! read more
A great day experience in Cancun! We got instruction in native Mayan cooking, learning and tasting with a fantastic meal at the end. This is a great way to spend a day away from the beach in Cancun! Highly recommended, give it a try! read more
We had a really great time at this cooking class and would highly recommend it to fellow travelers! My husband and I are foodies and we knew we wanted to do a cooking class on our vacation. We made our reservations at Mexico Lindo way ahead of time to make sure we had a spot! When we arrived at the cooking school, we were amazed at how picturesque it is, and I really appreciated how they use bright color throughout the property. It truly feels like a little oasis. We started the day with pastries, marmalade, Mexican coffee, and special hot chocolate. Yum! We toured the organic garden, which was definitely a highlight for me as a fellow gardener. In the kitchen, we cooked a whole suite of salsas, stuffed peppers, carnitas, sweet tamales, and more. Chef gave us a thorough lesson in how to use a knife properly, which was super helpful. At the end of the day, we all shared the fruits of our labor and everything was delicious! The chef was a fantastic host and teacher, and the staff were all very friendly. The property was clean and beautiful. The menu was extremely thoughtful and you can tell that a lot of love went into planning the meal and the whole business, overall. I'd highly recommend this experience! One logistical thing to note for travelers-- our class did go a bit long, which was a great bonus but also a bit stressful because we had planned our cab ride ahead of time and felt really bad that our driver had to sit and wait while we enjoyed our meal. I'd recommend waiting to plan transportation or giving yourself a little extra time. There is free Wi-Fi on the property so it would be easy to contact a cab driver before the meal starts, for example. We had an awesome day and if we're ever in the area again, we'll be back to try out another menu!! read more

This was a major highlight to our trip! It's a little bit out of the way, but good things are worth traveling and waiting for! This is more than a cooking class, it's a highly involved experience with some of the nicest people that we've met so far. Every ingredient, technique, dish-variation was explained in a lot of detail without being boring or inaccessible. Thomas and Claudia were exceptional at making us feel right at home. My wife and I thought the food was the best that we've had so far being here. I don't know what I was eating before, but it wasn't carnitas like we had just now. Wow! read more

Awesome awesome awesome!! My mom signed my family up for this cooking class and, to be honest, I wasn't really looking forward to it and didn't think it would be fun but boy was I wrong! Even my younger brother (17) who I was sure would think this would be boring ended up really enjoying it! This was a very fun experience! Her setup here is awesome! We got a nice breakfast when we arrived (fruits, traditional Mexican coffee (different than any coffee I've had but very delicious), toast, Mexican sweet breads, Mexican hot chocolate (way different from US hot chocolate but very delicious)) and then we made our lunch! We made tamales, a soup, refried beans, 2 different salsas, flautas, rice pudding, and some other stuff I can't remember at the moment--it was all delicious! She also knows a bunch of history and described how Mexico got its different flavors and other stuff--very interesting and informative. She sends you home with all of the lunch recipes so you can make this stuff at home! However, if you want to know how to make things like the coffee and stuff that's not in the recipe packet, be sure to ask. She does a different menu every day, so be sure to look over the menus and choose the day that has the best menu for you. I definitely recommend the tamale day! She also has plans to expand the school into a bed and breakfast style thing which I am definitely looking forward to! I definitely recommend this if you want to try some authentic Mexican food and learn how to make it!! I intend to come back again in the future! read more

The highlight of our trip! Alejandra, Claudia, and the other two staff members were all welcoming and warm. It was a great experience, something less touristy and at a more relaxed pace. Alejandra made the experience fun and relaxed for all her guests, those with every level of cooking experience. She was truly professional, knowledgeable, and passionate. I felt very at home, relaxed and welcome! We enjoyed a delicious continental breakfast when we arrived, complete with Mexican style coffee which was unique and delicious! We got to tour the garden with Alejandra, and see her vision for growing the school and helping more people experience true classic Mexican food and culture. Alejandra and Claudia made sure all the guests (there were five in my group, including a friend of Alejandra's) helped and got their hands on making a delicious meal. I would highly recommend adding this experience to your trip, go online and see which menu interests you most, or jump into something totally new and different, you won't regret it! Side note- if you have allergies or dietary restrictions, I don't think it's a problem, the staff can help tweak the menu, just give them some notice ahead of time! read more

I recently had the privilege of attending cooking classes at Mexico Lindo Cooking, and I must say, it was an absolutely incredible experience. From start to finish, this culinary adventure left me in awe, and I can't say enough good things about it. First and foremost, the learning aspect of this cooking class was top-notch. Chef Ale was not only incredibly knowledgeable about Mexican cuisine but also exceptionally passionate about sharing her expertise. She took the time to explain the history and cultural significance of each dish we prepared, which added a fascinating dimension to the entire experience. I left the class with a newfound appreciation for the rich culinary heritage of Mexico. Beyond the educational aspect, the class was an absolute blast! Chef Ale created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that encouraged active participation and camaraderie among the participants. It felt like a gathering of friends coming together to cook and share a meal, making it not only a cooking class but also a social event. Now, let's talk about the food - it was nothing short of amazing. Each dish we prepared was bursting with flavor and authenticity. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to follow the instructions provided by Chef Ale. From the mouthwatering hot chocolate to the flavorful tamales, every bite was a delightful explosion of taste. I left the class with a newfound sense of confidence in my cooking skills and a collection of recipes that I couldn't wait to recreate at home. The location of Mexico Lindo Cooking is also worth mentioning. Nestled in the heart of the jungle, the setting was nothing short of inspiring. Surrounded by lush greenery and the soothing sounds of nature, the class took on a surreal quality. It was a unique and memorable experience to cook in such a breathtaking environment, making it a feast for the senses in every way. In conclusion, I cannot recommend Mexico Lindo Cooking enough. The knowledge, fun, and mouthwatering food you'll experience here are simply unparalleled. If you have a passion for authentic Mexican cuisine, or if you're just looking for an unforgettable and unique culinary adventure, this is the place to be. Mexico Lindo Cooking has left an indelible mark on me, and I can't wait to return for another unforgettable experience in the heart of the jungle. read more

We just got back from our first time at Ventus at El Cid. It was a blast. We did a few excursions. One excursion I want to highlight is one that someone recommended and one that is not sold through the resort. It is called Mexico Lindo. It was a great experience and not far from the resort. Chef Ali is super knowledgable, loves to talk about the history and flavors of the food and is very patient. There are different meals you can choose from, but we made stuff poblanos, refried beans, cactus salad, sweet tamales, carnitas and tortillas. You are fed a light breakfast where you have pastries, Mexican coffee and hot chocolate. You walk through the garden, get to cook all the food, get a snack and enjoy your meal with some tequila. If you love to cook and learn about culture this excursion is for you. Also, if you watch Chef Table BBQ last episode it highlights a Mayan woman and her cooking. You can also go to that location through Mexico Lindo as well. We got all the recipes from our meal, which by the way was delicious and we plan to share the recipes with our friends and family soon. read more
