Tours last around 45 minutes and they run throughout the day from 9am - 4pm Central Standard Time. A limited number of cave tour reservations can be made online ahead of time at floridacaverns.com. This cave tour is pretty straightforward. You enter 65 feet below the surface into 8 illuminated rooms learning insights into limestone formations, mineral deposits, rock columns and fossilized shells. A lot of the rooms are colorful exhibiting a sort of glow in the dark appearance. The tour guide gives background and history into what makes the caverns unique and how they came into existence. Once the cave tour is completed, a great way to continue your visit is by driving 2 miles down the road (within park limits) to check out Blue Hole Spring. This has to be one of the least talked about springs I discovered in all of Florida. An absolute hidden gem, the Blue Hole is a tucked away swimming treasure that lights up turquoise blue colors when the sun is shining. Refreshing off in these waters was the best part about the park visit and quickly put my cave tour experience in the rear view mirror. The waters of Blue Hole Spring are incredibly translucent even while continuing the 2-mile flow through the woods and connecting with the Chipola River. Some extras at the park are...overnight camping for $20, hiking trails, picnic pavilions and launching canoes and kayaks. Overall, Florida Caverns State Park can be a worthwhile stop when visiting Marianna, Florida, with a combination of cave exploring, swimming at Blue Hole Spring and spending time in nature.

There's a visitors center with a video, information kiosks and restrooms right inside the park. We drove to the pier and walked to the end. What a great panoramic view of the beach and ocean! We also visited Gator Lake. There were quite a few warning signs at the trailhead. While we visited, the rangers were starting controlled burns, so we weren't able to drive through the entire park. They also let us know that Hurricane Michael damaged 2/3 of their 176 campsites. Would recommend a visit, if in the area!

The Sunset Cruise was a blast with more Dolphins than I have ever seen, and I have been on several. The Dolphin Snorkel tour was wonderful. Brian took us to 2 different snorkel spots. After that we went on a great ride, learning some history of the area and after a bit of searching we got more dolphins, with one swimming right in front of the boat. I highly recommend both trips. It would be great if Brian's boat was cleared for going out into the Gulf.

Still, I did a day hike on Gator Trail with THE Mr. Freckles McWolfington, and we had a blast. He wasn't happy about being stuck on leash, but it IS called Gator Trail for a reason. When we got back to the trailhead, we walked over to the little deck and were treated to a terrifying growl from what was either the biggest gator in Florida or a T-Rex, we weren't sure. First time hearing a gator growl - it was so freaking cool. If you get a chance, come out for a walk and some time on the beach - no dogs allowed, though (don't tell Freki I called him a dog, please).

Once you have finished the nature center...you can follow the loop around and look into the tiny homes and all of the rec areas that are original to the property. This has been very well maintained. Beach If you want the romantic beach feel...then you should head off to the park's beach ... you are greeted with such clear water with the pristine colors that you envision when you think of the photo worthy beaches. An added element are the renaming parts of the pier structure. The next time you are in the Panama City or destin Florida area...out this on your list of places to go!
