That's when I glanced over and spotted this gem! I had never heard of Pineda Covalin before so I decided I'd Google the store before walking the 30 feet to check them out in person :) Low and behold what do I spot, gorgeous silk scarves. Honestly, the beautiful male and female models standing outside of their door also did the trick at catching my eye. I was curious! Do these two stunning individuals work for this store or are they possibly fellow travels looking like they just stepped off of the runway. Hey, models are abundant these days in Cancun - with everyone visiting Tulum I wasn't quite sure. Now, I know! They were models and however much they get paid it worked to lure me in and make a purchase. I walked over to check out the goods and loved the friendly service and introduction to the line. Created by two designers Cristina Pineda and Ricardo Covalin the lines purpose is to share the richness of Mexico traditions through its products. I really liked several designs but ended up selecting a very beautiful bright piece that looks great against a tan ;) They also made sure to ask if I wanted the tax refund form which was nice. Before boarding my flight I went over to submit this paperwork. Tax free shopping for visitors is always a plus. They accept USD and pesos but since I was fresh out of pesos I paid in dollars. Save your time and don't waste your pesos on garbage, if you are looking for a beautiful reminder of your Mexican vacation Pineda Covalin is a great store. I look forward to looking up the line in the future for other new designs. You can say they are the Hermes of Mexico ;) Luxury silk at its finest.

RENTAL INFO: Rented a 4-seater (2 forward/2 backward) for the week. $9200 MEX (roughly $460 USD)…read more If you have more than two people and are renting long-term, I would suggest a 6-seater so more people can ride facing forward. It is the primary mode of transportation to get around the island. They provide a steering wheel lock that you definitely should use when parking your vehicle. When you rent one long term, they will tell you to come back every three days for gas (included). Pro tip: Always bring your most recent expired license to Mexico to leave with the golf cart company. That way, if they/you lose it, it's really not the end of the world. I'm not admitting that I may or may not have done that but it is a really good idea. Opens at 9am and closes at 7pm. If you are leaving Isla before 9am, you may need to drop off the cart the night before to get your drivers license (current or expired) returned. Just like ANY rental vehicle, I always suggest taking a before/after video of your vehicle to prove damages if it were to come back on you later. It's just smart!!! DRIVING INFO: As far as Isla Mujeres parking goes, you can park anywhere the curb is yellow. You cannot park anywhere the curb is red. Many of the roads have speed bumps marked by TOPAS signs. Look for them! I'm not admitting I locked up the brakes to slow down but trust me, you'll only make the mistake of going over one at full-speed a time or two before you really start paying attention. Not all of them are marked clearly. Some streets in the business district are one way. Pay attention. As I said above, I'm not admitting I may or may not have messed that up as well and got yelled at by a local señorita. Bottom line - Convenient to the ferry for drop off and pick up. Opens at 9AM. Closes at 7PM. Follow my driving tips. Do as I say, not as I did.

When you get off the ferry, tons of folks will try to sway you to rent from them. We looked around and chose Rentadora Caribe. They gave us a discount and we got the cart at a good rate. After the end of the ride we headed straight for our ride back. The guy at the rental place followed us before we got in the boat. My wife forgot the passport she left for security. What can I say, excellent service. Highly recommend.

I have never been treated so horribly by any business that it prompted me to add them to Yelp to…read morewrite a negative review!! I typically exclusively give positive reviews or no review at all. There are exceptions to every rule... I went into this shop because I have a friend who is a chihuahua lover and I wanted to get her a present. I decided on a change purse and a multiple colored chihuahua key chain. The sticker price listed on the key chain was $240 (the price is the same on Facebook). When I asked the sales clerk for the total for the two items she replied $400. I subsequently left the shop, walked in the hot Mexican sun (it was scorching) withdrew the money from the bank. Upon my return the sales clerk decided that the sticker price for the keychain was incorrect and I should be charged $290 for the key chain. Really amigo?! What other business has one price on the sticker and a higher price when you get to the cashier??!! No señorita, that's not how I do business! I asked her to honor the price on the sticker. She could not. I ask to speak to the manager. She calls the manager on the phone, who is in a different location. We wait 5 minutes for the manager to arrive and explain the situation. She tells us she had the exact same situation and that "all of you people when you visit Mexico think you can get a discount". Wrong answer lady! Next time try "I apologize for the confusion. How can I make this right?" Now I rarely get mad but this made me livid! How dare you question my integrity! I never asked for a discount I merely asked to pay the price on your stickers AND website. After some back and forth the manager finally agreed to honor the sticker price. I thought all was well. I put the $400 on the desk (the total she gave to me initially). She then says the price is $480.... Arrrruuuu?!!! I'm no mathematical genius but I know the difference between $480 and $400. Yes, I'm positive I know the difference between those two numbers. I tell the manager that she had previously said the total for the two items was $400. The sales clerk, who was having most of her discussion with the manager in Spanish blurts out in English, "she is lying." Hmm, a note to said sales clerk: if you are going to insult someone at least do it in a language they don't understand! I much prefer to not know I'm being insulted, that is, if you still want my money! At this point I walked out of the store and took my money with me. It was too hot for all that drama!!! ----------- A note to the owners of Chihuahua Chic: Consider hiring employees who don't insult the customers and know basic math. Also consider honoring the prices that YOU put on your stickers.
