Sometimes I have no clue what I want to cook then I pick not so busy hours meaning not lunch or just when they're about to close so when they have enough time they gladly suggest you what you could cook. From all types of meat they also sell cold cuts and cheese plus small things for your Apéro, and even fresh fish. You can also find that Swiss small bread Bürli which I highly recommend. They also have a fantastic corner for ready to eat food warm and cold. If you feel hungry don't think twice and go there they always have a fantastic menus. They have some traditional things which they always have like burgers and sausages but then the menus always change on a daily basis. For a barbecue at home I'm a big fan of the tomahawk and the porkchops especially if they are from the Alps. They have their own fridge where they dry age the meat themselves. Also not to miss are their own sausages which you can throw on your barbecue there are the Italian sausage Lughanige *big high five* so good when bbqed, and their homemade pork sausage. From the things to go I absolutely love the red fatty sausage Schüblig. It is super filling so I can't have it every day :( Also their hamburger is good and compared to Zurich prices a little steal. The best thing I saved for a the end: I was having my whole family coming over for Christmas dinner and I wasn't sure if that them Turkey would fit in my oven. When I told this they didn't hesitate and told me that they would prepare the turkey for me and then I could just come and pick it up. Being a host I didn't want them to prepare the turkey so then they suggested I could pick up the cold turkey, stuff it and prepare it myself and then just bring it for the baking time and then pick it up again. They were even so kind to give me a pro box where food remains warm four hours. I think this is the best way you can satisfy your customers especially if they are a little bit difficult and picky like me :)) high-five to that special butcher team and of course five star review. (On a side note please support this business as it is a family business with the tradition and Zurich has small businesses disappearing more and more. I always thought they must make a ton of money to be able to pay the rent at this location but then I got to know that the property is owned by the city and this is how they can survive in the middle of the old town)

I am a meat lover and I do think there is a huge difference in quality of meat and I have learned over the years that a good artisanal butcher is typically much better than what you get from a supermarket. I am sad to see that not more people realize this and slowly butchers are disappearing one by one. Metzgerei Keller (appearently Metzgerei means butcher in German) is one of these rare gems. I first came in contact with their Wiederkli sausages on a food truck market and noticed that this was a super delicious sausage so I was curious where it was from. Obviously the name should have told me that this is indeed from Wiedikon, where I live so I went to see the shop. Even though my German is quite limited, the staff in the shop was super friendly in helping me with finding the exact right cut of meat I was looking for and giving me information about their very extensive sausage offering (do try their fennel Wiederkli sausage, it is delicious!) But most importantly, their meat is of amazing quality, I've been now quite a few times and everytime I am surprised on how right they get it. Their meat is at a similar level as the supermarket but oh boy, it is so much better. Compared to the butcher counter at Globus or other delicatessen shops, this is more economical and much better. There is a good selection of produce at decent prices but almost all the spinach is wilted and wet (compare to the spinach so beautiful and perky at Marinello), the garlic is awesomely priced but I can't find a decent cucumber and there is mold on the cauliflower. The tomatoes are great but I feel they are more flavorful because they're older/riper than those at Coop or Migros. There is a good selection of fruit displayed outside and inside the store but I couldn't find my favorite: berries! No strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries. Also no kiwis or cherries :( oh well, there is a halal butcher and an amazing selection of couscous and a mega sized yogurt, not surprising. I loved seeing the diversity of the clientele but unfortunately I can't do all my food shopping just here and I'm looking for a one-stop shop which I will reluctantly have to rely on the Sihlcity Coop to fulfill. Like Lianhua this place is sizeable and the shelves are chock full of products but most of them are not part of my regular grocery/ingredient list so maybe I'll need to switch up my palate and recipe staple. There is a wider selection of household goods that you may need like cleaning liquids and napkins, etc than Lian Hua down the street. I've posted pictures of the seafood selection so will have to compare the prices to those as Lian Hua. They actually take credit cards which is great and there was a plentiful supply of herbs which I love--mint, rosemary, oregano, parsley, cilantro, and so on.
