My friends and I stopped by for aperitivo and had a really good time even though it was cloudy, gloomy outside, the views were still fabulous. I saw pictures and when it's sunny, you can even see Mount Etna from here. I highly recommend this place for afternoon cocktail drink, and light snacks. read more

I stopped in on a sunny afternoon for a cold drink and something to eat. The host was quite rude and not at all welcoming. I ordered a bottle of sparkling water and their fruit and ice cream dessert. The water came quickly. After fifteen minutes, I let the waiter know that I was in a rush and would need to leave so I would like to pay the bill. He said the ice cream would be five or six minutes. He brought the bill but no ice cream. After fifteen minutes, I asked another waiter as waiters were scarce. After waiting another 12 minutes we had to leave as we had an appointment. It's appalling they couldn't get a 16 euro ice cream and fruit to the table within 35 minutes. It was clear we weren't welcome or wanted there and I can't help but suspect it was due to our ethnicity. I've traveled to over 85 countries and all seven continents, regularly stay at top hotels and have never been treated so poorly. read more

I have not yet been a guest of the hotel - but the bar was a magnificent experience. Grab a table right on the rail so you can see the beautiful views. Every drink came with a tasty little tray of food. The views were incredible too, just check out the video. And the music was just right. read more

My fiance and I, who were in Italy to get married recently stayed at the Metropol. We were extremely disappointed and under-whelmed. We were shown our very small room and immediately noticed a vile smell coming from the shower. It smelled like a cesspool. The manager came and didn't even go into the bathroom and told us he'd move our room. They moved us to another room and the exact same smell was coming from the shower. Not only that but there would be water coming from underneath the shower onto the marble floor. The staff was not very helpful especially with this being a five star hotel. centrally located in Taormina. a beautiful little boutique hotel with an amazing view from (all?) rooms, comfortably firm bed, free breakfast included with the room (even had an option of soy milk which wasn't common in Sicily) and aqua di palma toiletteries. read more
