The first thing I look for on the bus in the morning is the trusty Metro.
As a journalism student, I know good news when I see it, and to be frank, the Metro is what we Journo's would call 'McJournalism', a word coined by Bob Franklin, meaning the fast food equivalent of a good healthy meal of reporting like The Guardian or The Independent. However, if you have a half hour journey to get through, there is nothing better than whiling away the time with a copy of this fab free paper.
It is essentially the best bits of news from the day, and some of it seems a little 'copy and paste' but so what? It does what it needs to do, keeps you informed, and if you want to know more then you can grab a broadsheet on the way to the office or classroom. It does the job.
My favourites are the 'Around the World' section with wacky stories, and the readers letters, just incase some weirdo behind me has text something in about me. You never know.... read more
