I had to change trains here and it went very smoothly, as all the platforms are on the same floor. The was a long line at the gate, but it moved fairly quickly. There are nice choices for restaurants and shops. The employees were very helpful to those that requested help.

Once inside, hold your breath. It smells like urine. Beware of people coming up to you to ask you random things. I had it happen a few times and it's a busy station! People are all over (kids, dogs, kids, suitcases). It's a busy place. The food selection is great and the shops are nice too. It's not the worst station or the best station I've been too. It runs on time and will get you to where you need to go.

The metro in Paris is crazy huge and intricate much like New York…read more It is very clean and you can pretty much get anywhere within five minutes of where you want to go from a metro stop. You can purchase an all day pass, a multi pass, a single trip pass or whatever you need! It can be a bit confusing so don't hesitate to ask for instructions and directions lol. The folks are nice and helpful and most speak English. Happy visiting!
European public transportation is ridiculously efficient. I have nothing to say other than their…read morestops take you everywhere and they are strategically placed at all the major sights, which make it easy for tourists. That being said, coming back to the US and suffering on Bart with all the filth and disrespecting trash-talking slobs that litter/smoke/take up seats with their feet/mental-basket law-breaking idiots makes me jaded in general about our public transportation system. Various platforms exist within the webwork of the Paris Metro system so once you know which line to get on and where your destination is, you are all set to go. Customer service was not consistent but if you have any questions, the station reps were helpful. Great stop, right from the Louvre.

Fantastic location. Small station whose entrance is the front of Les Invalides…read more Usually a quiet station, we've always felt safe no matter what time we've been coming or going.....but..... PSA: it is always, always, always important to be city-wise no matter where you are. I had a crossbody purse under my coat & thought it was safe. We boarded a super crowded Paris metro & there were people all up against each other as we were all boarding & standing, crammed in the car.... my purse had slipped around to the back but was still under my coat & at first I thought it was just the crowd pressed against me but I reached for my purse to bring it around to the front of my body & found it had already been unzipped. They had lifted my coat & in seconds, had already opened my bag! Luckily nothing had been taken but I was mere micro-seconds away from a nasty event......even for those like me who travel often & think I'm so smart - I'm not. Be vigilant......paranoia is a good thing when it comes to protecting your belongings. This could happen anywhere & doesn't take away from the station so while I heart the station, still worthy to call out
The whole metro station system in Paris is a scam. They didn't mention anything regarding "reduced…read moreticket price" for kids when you purchased, it wasn't even mentioned in the machine. You paid $10 for the ticket, and then they fined €35 for using the "reduced price ticket". The whole metro is so confusing and sometimes you have to tap twice to get into the right station. Their weekly pass is also a scam because it will expire on Saturday night, no matter if you bought on Saturday morning.

Well, actually, I didn't namely because I wanted to actually go and check out Gare Montparnasse, which I did. Actually, a part of me suspects that this is part of the mainline station, but I've sort of placed it as it's own station. Hey, at least the train drops you off here, which is something that really doesn't happen in Australia.

I needed to buy a weekly navigo pass and the staff at the exit 5 ticket office were SO helpful despite my limited and fairly poor French! The ticket office was also still open after midnight which is great. There are a few steps to navigate at this station but nothing insurmountable. Plus I was lucky enough that a gorgeous French guy carried my bag up the main exit steps. Chivalry is lovely but French chivalry - mon Dieu!!! The Montparnasse Bld exit brings you out on to a Main Street full of bars, restaurants, the theatre. Such a nice way to immediately feel right in the heart of things! The station is not to be confused with the SNCF Gare Montparnasse. This is about a 5/10 easy minute walk away from Bienvenue. Right, I'm off to get my Montparnasse on! On y va!
