First to Review! ! ! *YAYE*…read more This Metra Station is directly outside the gate Corpside of Great Lakes Naval Service Training Center, and is the most affordable means of getting to downtown Chicago (on Saturday and Sunday an unlimited ride pass is 5 bucks) At the train station is a coffeeshop/drycleaners/misc goods that sells pretty good turkey + cheese croissant sandwiches, ice blend coffee drinks and they carry $5 earmuffs that don't look like the dorky ones that leave an elastic mark on your forehead :)

I've never seen the station open and unlocked, but I've always been here mid-afternoon, not early morning. As the station waiting room is locked, the bathrooms are unreachable, never a good situation in a place where you may wait a long time, that's a long way from anything else. The Waukegan station is fairly pedestrian unfriendly: the walk from downtown Waukegan is a long way down a steep hill and once you get to the tracks, you usually have to go a fair distance up or down the tracks to find a crossing to the center platform ahead of the parked train. I've seen people flirt with heart attacks as they charge full speed down the hill to try to catch a train that's about to leave without them.

This place is all painted brown, and shows of old stained wood and brass everywhere. It just looks cool, like it was built for the ages, not for some quick fix for a train station. It looks like it was built a long time ago, and will be here for a long time to come. Inside, there's plenty of seating for cold weather situations, and even a little book library where you can take or leave books for the commute. When I went, the train was on time, and the conductors and staff were quite nice. The trains were fast, and everyone was helpful. You can use the Ventra app to buy tickets to ride.

I was assisting a friend who was homeless join the Milwaukee Rescue Mission and get involved in a fast track career program. As part of the effort to get my friend up to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission I had to contact taxi services and find one which could bring my friend from Gurnee up to Milwaukee while meeting my expectations. It was challenging. After a few uncommon conversations with some local taxi services I was getting a little concern. I then found Northern American Taxi. I called Marianna and described my unique situation. She liked the idea of helping a homeless person and we proceeded to arrange the ride for my friend. When my friend arrived at the Milwaukee Rescue Mission, he called telling me he had a great ride and good time chatting with Marianna. In addition Marianna also made a nice contribution to PADS, the Chicago area homeless program. During this current time we need special people. Marianna not only provided a great service, she showed heart and honor helping an organization focus on helping the less fortunate.

I reserved through their cumbersome voice automation phone system at 8 am; that is 8 hours ahead. Amtrak was on time, but the cab never showed. I ended up calling in several times, each time a different dispatcher told me it was 5 minutes away. Finally at 3:45 a supervisor got in the line & admitted that they had no driver. These guys are amateurs, should not be in the cab business.

On August 18th I had an complaint on one of their bus monitors.the bus monitor was an older black…read moreman. He had almost hit my son when he tried to get into the backseat of the car! The man was yelling and waving his hands aggressively talking about who was going to get off first. We were shocked, upset and at all loss of words. We said that we didn't know. I recorded the whole event. I had an issue with this same bus monitor about the same situation this past year. I was able to call the safety representative and I got an new driver without any problems. This guy is always rude and surly to children. I talked to the safety manager and she barely investigates at all. She comes back super fast and gaslits me by claiming that it never happened. The bus monitor was in the backseat so the cameras couldn't pick up on this guy movements! I tried to tell her this and she yells at me to go to the district. She hangs up the phone in my face and I didn't even get an chance to tell her any of my concerns or questions. I left her three voicemails which I recorded. I was as polite and respectful considering the situation. Then she goes and blatantly lies and says that I was harassing her. Mind you without any police report. Also even if she tried it would be thrown out as I was only asking her to do her job! Then she permanently takes away my children's services. Now because of her my youngest son doesn't have any reliable transportation considering the fact that he is special ed. This place has an horrible track record of ignoring their customers and not taking any accountability. Yall should go to any other place but this one I'm working on filling an potential lawsuit!! Later, on my return home, the second driver also arrived very quickly after I called to schedule the return trip. Both cabs were clean, appeared to be well maintained, and the drivers were professional, friendly and polite. My trip was only two miles there and back, and the cost for both rides combined was just $15.00 total. Another taxi service I called first was going to charge me $40 for the trip to the same destination, and another $40 for the trip back home. That is not an exaggeration.
