I kid you not the life guard was watching him as well and all he did was jump in the deep end of the pool, he was coming up for air and they blew their whistle and jumped in to, again, "save" him when he didn't need saving at all. They put him in unwanted distress and embarrassed him, made him cry because he was coming up for air. Thankfully there were other lifeguards around who understood the situation and assured us nothing was wrong but what happened was just ridiculous.

I wish everyone in Frankfort would use the dog park instead of the Plank Trail as that would keep the Trail free of dog poo. That would be good for everyone else on the Trail and the dogs would be happy also. It is easy to register, pay the nominal fee and get a key card at the Park District office. The fees help to maintain the park. Have a dog in Frankfort? Check out the dog park.

Frankfort IS a hell of a lot more appealing since this park is there though. $50 and proof of your pup's shots gets you a year long membership. Included in that is private access to a massive enclosure that's all soft grass. There's shaded areas, free poop bags, and a time out section if your dog gets a little too excited to be frolicking out in the sun. It's honestly my dog's favorite place to play, and I don't even mind driving about 45 minutes from the city to do so.

There are, however, some folks that don't control their dog when they get over-excited or aggressive. I, too, have noticed that there is a lot of dog poop laying around. They have a couple of large parking lots there to stash your vehicle while visiting. One of the main entrances is right past one of the Tinley Park fire stations. Many paved trails to walk around the lake, with a high route and a low route to vary up the scenery. On the high elevation they have a number of picnic tables and the like for those that want to have a meal. They also have a large playground there for the kids to keep busy while the parents chill. The lower route is mainly for jogging and walking ... although you'll find a lot of bikes in the area also. At the other end you'll find baseball and soccer fields, skateboard, and basketball too. They also have a little dock off which you can fish. Be forewarned - no dogs allowed, which is good for some people and not so much for others. This is a sort of difficult kind of place to find, but that keeps it a treasure.

In our experience over the last 17 years as a pet owner around here is that an unfortunate amount of pet parents at other parks do not always pay as close attention as they should ; this causes a lot of fighting, biting, and and doggie doo doo going unnoticed. There is a water pump when it warmed up (AND A WASHROOM SO YOU HAVE TO REASON TO EVER LEAVE...LOL) There are two sides to this park one for larger dogs and one for dogs up to 35 lbs. This is a vast playground that covers a wide range of activities…read more To one side, there is a huge ninja course. We have been to a few playgrounds with similar equipment but this set is different because it seems to be designed for young adults and/or professional athletes. The equipment is very new and large with extremely tall heights. One would have to be very athletic, fit, and strong to conquer those. And that might be the reason why most of that area was left untouched during our stay... On the other side, there is plenty of playground equipment for young and older children. The structures and equipment are well spread out. There is a wooden structure made with logs, teepee, small tree house, slides, swings, and monkey bars. Our kids had plenty of fun exploring the different areas. The one downside is the lack of shades.
