The food here is phenomenal! The menu is very different and full of flavorful options. Our server was a delight. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and full of suggestions and her true opinions. I felt sorry for her however, because the restaurant filled up and I don't think they had the wait staff to handle the large number of customers. This made service slow, but we weren't in a hurry so it was fine. The only downside of our evening at this delightful restaurant came from the bar. One of the beers ordered at our table was pretty warm. The other beers that came out of the bar were only 2/3 full. Domestic drafts are $7, so getting only 2/3 is pretty disappointing. All in all we enjoyed our evening and will be back. We will likely just avoid the draft beer and make sure to come at a less busy time.

We had a group of 25 people from my company and we had relatively a last minute dinner here. This established was one of the few places that took our party size with a short notice so we were pretty happy about it. We were in the area for a national convention and booked ~2-3 hours prior. We arrived to a very pleasant and welcoming staff. The food and drink menu options were great with both Caribbean and Ethiopian dishes. It took us a while to choose but we had almost all the appetizer options and we each had a good representation ordered from the menu. Everyone commented on how happy they were with their meals and drinks. I had run punch and fried snapper. Yum!

We took a take out meal with these items: Chicken Jambalaya - chicken, smoked beef sausage and veggies in a Cajun broth with a rice pilaf -- phenomenal!!! Shrimp & Grits - blackened shrimp, creamy smoked gouda in the grits with veggies and a creole sauce -- I don't know if another S&G could ever compare to this one! Broadway Chicken - roasted halved chicken, mashed potatoes, greens beans, sweet peppers, brussel sprouts, with a delicious reduction -- delicious!! Chef Bites appetizer - fried chicken bites tossed in house ginger rum glaze and plantain shoestrings. So good!! We ordered easily through their online ordering platform. We were wondering why a normal menu item wasn't available to order, but as it turns out, they were out of that item for that day, and their online ordering platform had been updated! We thought that was great that they were that current. Our meal was ready within 10 to 15 minutes, very speedy! Everything was absolutely amazing! Quite the celebration we had!

Location: Uptown. Across the street from the theater. Ambiance: indoor seating. Fancy place. You can bring a date. Food: The food here is delicious, ethiopian, and Caribbean options. We tried the ethiopian sample and was delicious. This place is slightly pricier than Elsa's or blue Nile. Injera was good, but I personally liked it more from the other ethiopian restaurants. Service: Excellent.

This was definitely one of the poorest restaurant experiences for us in Kansas City. We (2 adults and 2 small kids) were there on a Saturday evening and it was complete chaos, starting with the host all the way down to every waitress. We waited over 20 minutes after being seated to get some water. About 15 minutes in, I flagged down a waitress and she literally said "your waitress will be here soon" and walked away. Our waitress came and dropped off water and ran away without even giving me a chance to order anything. When she came back 10 minutes later (30 min after seating), we put in our drinks, apps and dinner together cause by then I had enough time to study the menu, I could have gotten a PhD in it. I got my rum cocktail (apparently their specialty) 45 minutes after being seated by the hostess. That is straight up ridiculous. Another 20 minutes later the food came. No sign of appetizer though! But these food items were hastily dropped off by random server, who left faster than the time it took my brain to process what was happening. My wife's fish tasted worse than the worst frozen dinner I have had. My beef dish was okay, but nothing to write home about. My daughter ordered a side Mac & Cheese and that was the best item of the evening. Still no appetizer. We were all done eating in 10 minutes as none of us really wanted to finish our food. By this point, my 2 year old had enough of sitting there and I just wanted to leave. It had been 1hr and 45min and still no sign of appetizer. I managed to flag our waitress down once more and she acted surprised apps weren't here. I told her to cancel it and I don't want it and just get me the receipt. Then 5 min later, another waitress dropped off the appetizer and our waitress dropped off the bill, INCLUDING the app charge. I was so done at this point, I gave a 10% tip (9% too much) and left. To the restaurant: please don't take that many reservations if you can't handle that many people. Also, please train your waitresses to be more pleasant and attentive. Your price points are not low. So folks expect that level of service.

Tried this place on my recent trip to Kansas city. If you are tired of eating all the bbq this place is good for some light tasty meals. We tried their vege and beef options. All servings are good for sharing too. The decor of place and ambiance was really nice. Plenty of parking in the back of building. Staff is very helpful and friendly.

sooo it's a rum bar that's already a win! I might be biased because i worked here but the food has really opened doors for my palate, i was very grateful to work here for that reason. some of the best shrimp and grits in KC hands down! amazing ethiopian food packed with flavor all around. low light restaurant with music which is great to set a vibe. service can be a hit or miss as it is anywhere.

Being 100% transparent, this was my first experience with Ethiopian cuisine. I wasn't sure what to expect and I have nothing to compare my experience to, so my opinions could change in the future but for now we're going with five stars. They have lots of rum and rum cocktails and they all sounded delicious. I went with the rum punch. It's Bacardi Gold rum, orange, pineapple and lime juices, Grenadine, Angostura Bitters. It was really good and that cherry garnish was chefs kiss. My dining companions ordered the painkiller- Appleton Estate Signature, Bacardi Gold, pineapple, orange juices, Coco Real. Nutmeg, and I was able to try a sip. It reminded me of a pina colada and was also a good choice. We started with the Avocado salad-Baby arugula tossed in mango vinaigrette dressing with cherries tomatoes, fresh avocado slices, candied walnuts, blueberries, and feta cheese. It was a really good salad, everything was fresh and tasty but the description and what we received didn't quite match up. There were exactly 2 cherry tomatoes in the entire salad but there was at least a half an avocado so that evens out. The candied walnuts were actually almonds and the blueberries were dried cranberries. The substitute ingredients didn't throw off the salad and I didn't feel like it was a huge deal. Mesob is actually a Caribbean fusion restaurant and they do offer Caribbean entrees but we decided to go the Ethiopian route. We ordered the lamb tibs-Boneless lamb sautéed in a blend of house spices, clarified herb butter, onions, garlic, jalapenos, and tomatoes and paired it with red lentils and collard greens. It comes with Injeri bread to eat and soak up the juices. The lamb was tender and delicious. The spices were perfectly balanced and reminded me of Indian cuisine. The red lentils were also good and a little spicy. I'm not a huge fan of collard greens but my dining companion said they were good. The bread is different but it served it's purpose. It did get a bit soggy from the greens so in the future I would order extra bread to make up for any soggy bits. Our table also ordered the coconut curry shrimp but I was not able to try it. It looked good though. Overall it was the perfect introduction into Ethiopian cuisine and I can't wait to go back to try more food!

So good! Make sure you grab a reservation before you jaunt to Mesob. There's a reason they're popular. We stopped in for 2023 restaurant week and got to try a little bit of a lot of things. Snagged some photos of our favorites: Chicken Jambalaya and Vegetarian Platter. The misor wat at just the right spice and the jamba was Huge! Ethiopian cuisine is in my top 5 craves and this food really hit the spot!

This place is great. They recently moved into the old Crabs On Broadway building but it's super nice in here. We tried the restaurant week menu and it's very good. The Shrimp & Grits were better, but the beef tibs were really great as well. The drinks are definitely delicious and I highly recommend the Rhum Punch and the Pain Killers are tasty.

I came for a fun and unique large group dinner of 18+ people to celebrate a joint one of a kind food experience Bachelorette party. Mesob is Carribean and Ethiopian cuisine within walking distance of Westport. The restaurant had far in advance notice of this large party but the seating arrangement seemed a tad bit awkward but overall service, food, and atmosphere experience was delightful. Our waitress was on top of everything by being very attentive to our large group's wants/ needs. She took our drink orders without any issues and there never seemed to be confusion which I've experienced in the past when dining with at least 10+ppl. The food was family style served and pre-picked by both of the brides-to-be. I loved everything and felt everyone was able to enjoy at least multiple things even with dietary restrictions among some of the guests. Below are the family style food items, - Avocado Salad with baby arugula tossed in mango vinaigrette dressing with cherries tomatoes, fresh avocado slices, candied walnuts, seasonal berries, and feta cheese - Vegetarian Platter of a combination of red lentils, yellow lentils, collard greens, and potato cabbage - Chicken Jambalaya - blackened chicken breast | smoked beef sausage | bell peppers | celery | onions | tomatoes| cajun-spices broth | rice pilaf - Vegan Paella - arborio rice | saffron broth | squash | baby spinach | brussel sprouts sweet peas | sun-dried tomatoes | green beans | fennels | sofrito - Lamb Tibs - boneless lamb sautéed in a blend of house spices, clarified herb butter, onions, garlic, jalapenos, and tomatoes

So I've been really looking forward to trying this place because it had come really recommended from friends - - and it didn't disappoint! Service was great and the food was also fantastic. Two friends and I went to Mesob on a Friday, so we made reservations easily online--I never got a confirmation email but I called and they had me on the list. While it wasn't super busy on this particular Friday, it's not a huge place so maybe better safe than sorry! We decided to split a few things so that we all could get some tastes of a bunch of items! We got a couple of cocktails--I got the mojito on the menu, and it was great and super flavorful! For dinner, we split one Caribbean entrée (salmon, shrimp, and potatoes dish) and one Ethiopian dish (vegetarian combination platter). Both entrées were fantastic, and I especially loved the flavors of the Ethiopian platter. Even with three of us, we had some leftovers, so while it wasn't a huge amount of food, it was a good size for sharing if you're up for that! Our server was amazing, and she was super helpful with recommendations since none of us had been there. She was also super patient as it took us some time to figure out what to get! After ordering, she was the right amount of attentive and I really appreciate when people strike that balance. Overall - - I'm looking forward to going back for a nice occasion!

This rooftop gem on the Country Club Plaza has such a youthful, energetic vibe--perfect for a milestone like this. Our server was excellent--super friendly, attentive, and even recommended a beautiful and delicious cocktail that paired perfectly with our dinner. We went all out and sampled a ton from the menu: fried lobster tail, pepperoni pizza, spicy tuna roll, salmon roll, wagyu Nagiri, oysters with caviar, and wagyu sliders. Most of the food was absolutely delicious! The sushi rolls stood out with their unique flavors and beautiful presentation--what a nice surprise. Our absolute favorites were the wagyu nagiri (melt-in-your-mouth incredible) and the oysters with caviar. The wagyu sliders were also a hit. That said, the fried lobster tail was a bit of a letdown--chewy and lacking the flavor punch that everything else delivered. The atmosphere is lively and fun, but heads up: it gets very loud. We were at one of those tiny cocktail tables and basically had to yell across it to chat, which made conversation a challenge during dinner. On the bright side, we scored an amazing seat with a stunning view of the Plaza. Watching the sunset while eating was magical and made the whole experience feel extra special for a birthday. Overall, great food (with just a couple minor misses), awesome vibes, top-notch service, and that unbeatable rooftop setting. I'd definitely recommend Prime Social and we'd go back in a heartbeat--maybe just bring earplugs if you're planning to talk a lot! 4 stars.

It's located in a cool area in the middle of the plaza right underneath Chiefs Fit gym. As soon as you enter you get a feel for the great ambiance and fun variety of music. We came in during a cold snowy day and took full advantage of the FREE coat check at the front desk. On the first floor there's a mini golf course as well as a full bar and seating area. Once you go downstairs though, you'll see just how massive the place is. Theres TONS of seating and cool little nooks to hangout in which make it great for a date night or corporate events. Once you get into the mini golf there's some great courses to check out. Each one has a different theme and they make it super simple to track your points. Simply enter the names of all your players on the touch screen at the first hole, then enter the number of strokes afterwards. After that it will follow you throughout the course until you're finished and tell you who wins at the end! There's also a place to sit your drinks at the start of each hole with a menu of course specific cocktails that I highly recommend trying. Every part of this place is perfect to take pictures and have a great time. But in my opinion, the true highlight of the Puttery is the food. I had the pleasure of meeting the head chef while here and he truly puts his heart into the menu. Our server Mariah was also super helpful giving us drink and food recommendations throughout our time here. Everything sounded amazing but I had to go with the Cajun Chicken Philly since I'm a sucker for a Philly sandwich. It was one of my favorite sandwiches I've ever had. From the soft delicious bread to the unbelievably juicy and tender chicken, this was such a great dish. The combination of ingredients and the plating itself made it clear that nothing comes as an afterthought here. I also tried the loaded fries which were a great recent addition to the menu. Last, we finished it off by trying the Tiramisu, Raspberry Donut Cheesecake, and the Bourbon Bread Pudding. Each one was really amazing but my favorite was the Raspberry Donut Cheesecake, and I'm not even a huge cheesecake fan! I definitely plan to come back here just for the food because it was so delicious!! And on top of that, they recently started a meal prep service which I plan to take full advantage of! Overall you can tell that every detail is thought through at the Puttery. It truly feels like a luxury experience with an element of fun to round it out. The service is amazing and the food and drinks are to die for. If you're ever looking for a fun date night, a group outing, or even just a place for a solo dinner or drinks, you have to check this place out!

Service lead to a lovely evening. As for the food, we started off with the Not-So-Standard Potato Chips (parmesan, sauce flight: gold sauce, comeback sauce, black pepper bourbon ketchup). These were very good. House cooked chips that were just thick enough, had a good bite to them, and were absolutely covered in luscious parm. The sauce flight was fun, too. Keep the leftovers around to pair with the rest of your meal. Onto the Low Country Pimento Cheese (fried saltine crackers, candied black pepper bacon, bread & butter pickles, tomato jalapeño jam). Hillbilly charcuterie. Lots of fun to mix and match some bacon, some pickles, a little jam, all on those very unctuous Saltines. Very fun app. My main was the Brick Pressed Chicken (lemon & thyme brine, prosciutto & sausage bread pudding, caramelized cabbage, lemon & shallot cream sauce). Chicken was cooked to a charred perfection, that savory bread pudding was just an amazing as it sounds, and the cream sauce really brightened everything up. I don't usually get chicken, but I'm telling you, this was the chicken to get. I also got to try one of the nightly specials, some sort of cheesy parmesan pasta covered in black truffle shavings. It was as extravagant as it sounds. Fresh-made pastas, giant chunks of lobster, cheesy ooey gooey, and those truffle shavings add just a touch of class and umami that really made this a good pasta dish. We finished up with the Gram & Dun Bar (chocolate peanut and pretzel nougat, marshmallow cream cheese, chocolate mousse, peanut butter ice cream). Again, another thing I don't usually go for, the dessert bar, but this place did it in a way I haven't seen before. Each layer added to the dessert. Nougat, cream cheese, and mousse, all tied together with that cold, creamy peanut butter ice cream. So so good. Overall, as good as this place was on paper, Gram & Dun really blew me away. Really elegant food, found right in the heart of the country. It was a pleasant surprise, and I would come back in a heartbeat.

I'm surprised I've never reviewed this Kansas City staple of a restaurant on the Country Club…read morePlaza, I've been coming here for years. I've had some amazing meals here, with exceptional service at the bar for happy hour as well as in the dining room for dinner. However, brunch service can be a little off sometimes (especially on Holidays like Easter or Mother's Day). My last time I was here was for their restaurant week 2026 menu and it was a fantastic experience, I had never dined here for restaurant week and I'll definitely return next year. I came for the tail end of lunch and ordered the fried oysters and the burger with fries. The oysters stole the show (I believe these are also on their happy hour menu but don't quote me on that). They were crispy coated in a cornmeal batter and tasted a touch briny without being too fishy. I loved the southern style take on this dish, it was served over a tremendous remoulade sauce that has the perfect amount of tanginess and creaminess. Now onto the smash burger, this is on the happy hour menu for $10 and all I can say is just order it! It's rich and meaty, with ooey gooey cheese. It has a classic "burger sauce" that I ask for an extra side of to dip my fries in because it's that good! The sweet onion and house made pickles help cut through all that beef and bacon, oh yeah did I mention there's salty chopped bacon on this burger too?! It has everything you want from a smash burger at a sit down restaurant. As far as brunch goes, the dishes are nice, there's nothing wrong with a classic brunch menu but I've had hit or miss service. The toast trio is my go-to I've had it a few times, on the menu they have named them "planks" but let's face it they're really just fancy topped toasts. I like to do all three so that I get a mix of savory and sweet. The two Benedicts on the menu are also very good, they're unique because one has pork belly and another has a crab cake. They do some drinks really well and some of the ones I've sampled on their rotating seasonal menus just don't do it for me. But, on their classic menu they have a drink called Fly Me To The Moon which if you like bourbon and aperol you should try, I like to switch it up from an old fashioned sometimes and since this has orange bitters and lemon it's familiar while still being a nice change. Also, a lot of mocktails are offered if you still want something refreshing without alcohol. Happy Hour is king here so if you're ever shopping on the plaza, need a place to meet with the girls, or on a date I would highly recommend Gram & Dun but, be aware it's only offered inside, in the bar area and not on the patio. It's also only 2 hours (3-5) Monday through Friday so plan ahead so you can make the most out of it!

They had a nice variety too -- cheeses, pastries, fresh fruit, a yogurt parfait station, spring salad, roasted sirloin, braised lamb, poached asparagus, roasted potatoes, seared salmon, smoked ham, an omelet station, and desserts like cake and mousse. Executive Chef Charles D'Ablaing personally carved the meat selections. He was very kind and took the time to explain some of the hot entrée options, which we really appreciated. The staff overall were friendly, attentive, and kept everything flowing smoothly even during the busy brunch crowd. We used their parking garage off Wornall, buzzed in to let them know we were there for brunch, and they raised the gate for us, which made things easy for first-time visitors. Highly recommend this place for an outing with family, friends, or even a date night. We would definitely come back.

The sour cream fried chicken with potatoes was a standout. Crispy, flavorful, and just really well done in that comforting, classic way. The service was impeccable without feeling stuffy. Everyone was so kind and attentive, and it made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. As a non-drinker I always appreciate a bartender that can make me NA versions of cocktails so I feel included, this experience did not disappoint. They also have live music nightly, which just adds something extra. I'll definitely be back for our next date night!
