Unclear that you use a different money slot for the soap located where you pay for the wash but the soap is dispensed in a different machine. Cash only although the site indicated credit cards were accepted. Mostly really hot wash cycles which to an American is not clear so be sure to choose the right temperature. It was another overcast day, so we decided to do a load of laundry, consisting of a 4 pairs of jeans, a bunch of shirts, socks and underwear... Filling up a relatively large reusable bag I had brought from home. We located a city "waschcenter" on Yelp, which was about 2 blocks from our hotel. The facility is open from 7:00 am until midnight everyday, and they offer drop off service if you don't want to wait. In addition, they offer dry cleaning and shirt pressing in 24-hours. Supposedly they have a facility at the Central train center, too. We were there on a Thursday around 11:00 am and there was only 1 other couple there, who were Americans visiting from upstate New York, and they stop here during their annual visit to the city. They walked this rookie though the process and we chatted while waiting for our laundry. We picked a washing machine, loaded the clothes, remembered the machine number and went to the pay kiosk. The regular washing machines were €2,00 to wash (jumbo loading machine €4,00). The kiosk did provide change by pushing the red button on the top. Adjacent to the kiosk was laundry soap that dispense in a cup for €0.50. After paying, we went back to the machine to add soap, and selected the cleaning cycle. After the wash was complete, we used one of the blue containers provided to transfer the wet clothes to the drying room. Just like in the wash cycle, you select a dryer, pay the kiosk for the correct machine, return to the dryer and select the heat cycle. It's €1,00 for 10 minutes and it took 3 cycles to completely dry our clothes. No one likes to do laundry, but I did have a positive experience using this place. Now we have clean clothes for the second part of our trip!

They informed me the washing phase would take approximately 45 minutes and that they had a machine for kaffe if I wanted something to drink while I waited. I did see that they had drop off service. I might consider using this next week when I have, perhaps, a day or two where I can wait to pick them up. From what I saw hanging, they seem to do a very good job cleaning and pressing dress shirts and jackets.

I haven't used any other laundromats (waschsalons) in Germany so I don't have anything to compare against. I had plenty of time to write this review because the dryers are SLOW. 14 washing machines (large €9, small €4.50) 6 dryers (€1.50/10 minutes) Soap and softener available (waschmitteldosierer) Pick your washer, load with clothes and soap Pay at the Kassenautomat (accepts cards and bills up to €20). Feed the money in to the machine (geldscheine) and you will see the total available in red numbers (guthaben). The value will decrease as you select the washing machines, when done hit "geldrückgabe" for your change. Head back to your machine, the green light next to the power button should now be on. Use the button on the top right to select the type of wash, hit the power button to start. Same steps for the dryer. If you want to add multiple 10 minute runs to the same dryer keep hitting the same dryer number and watch your remaining balance deduct by 1.50€.

This was my first time ever at a laundromat. It was ok, but not great…read more I was expecting to get all my laundry done in one load, but regular washers were so small that I had to do two loads. In hindsight I should have chosen one of their large machines and saved some money and time (I had to wait for my laundry to finish to do a second load. The other machines finished at about the same time). Then I loaded a dryer with all of my wet clothes and ran it. Basically, you pay 0.70 euro for ten minutes. I ran it three times and my stuff still wasn't dry, so I just took it home that way, since I thought the whole thing was a bit expensive. The annoying part is that you can't (as far as I know) set the dryer to run 40 minutes or a specific number of minutes. Every ten minutes you have to go and pay another 70 cents to run it again. Anyhow, basically it cost about 10 euros for 2 small loads to be washed and somewhat dried. The salon has a seating area, which is nice, but no WiFi. A German review says it has WiFi, but it doesn't. There are two vending machines where you can get pop or caffeinated drinks. I didn't bother. There is also a cafe next door. Don't be surprised if smoke comes in from someone sitting outside smoking. The laundromat does not have anything outside indicating what it is or its name, so you will need to look inside to see that. As for the clothes, they were clean. Unless you use your own detergent though, they won't smell like anything, but they look and feel clean.
