This market makes me sad.
It's not unique. It's not…read morepleasant. It's not Italian. It's full of made-in-China junk you can find anywhere else, and prices are the same as other markets. It does not have the touristy items you see in the center but where did all the antiques and uniqueness go? Gone.
10 years ago this place was so much better. I'd find quality items, even stuff from WW2. I can still find them, thankfully at the antique market in ciompi or santo spirito, but it was nice to see them here too.
This place is void of feelings. When people come to visit me, I tell them, why would u come to italy to buy things made in china you can find back home? Avoid it or you'll be wasting your time.
And then unless you live nearby, the produce vendors and sandwich stalls aren't any different as those in mercato centrale, Saint Ambrogio, etc.
Sad.
