Contract Discrepancies/Sitters Lament on Working with Them I thought I would enjoy this experience sitting with Meowtel. I had a client contact me for a booking of many days with a start date between 24 hours of the booking. According to Meowtels cancellation contract "Cancelation within 24 hours of the start date": No refund will be issued for cancelations within 24 hours of the start date. The sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings. We appreciate your respect for your sitter's time" Well unfortunately for me, they did not honor this at all, as the client just decided to stop communicating with Meowtel after booking and putting their credit card on file. Apparently contracts mean nothing to this company. They also take 30% of my fees, and I do a free "meet and greet" which I dont get paid for. They offer no ACH banking and you are forced to get your money through Paypal. In the end, some of the clients I have worked with are very nice, but the organziation really screwed me in the end. In response to Meowtels comment, here are the refund contracts spelled out here. "Cancelation between 24-48 hours before the start date*: Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will receive 50% of their planned earnings. Cancelation within 24 hours of the start date*: No refund will be issued for cancelations within 24 hours of the start date. The sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings. They price gouge on holidays, and they apply it to every definition of federal holidays, regardless of the actual holiday observance preferences of the sitters themselves, which is the logical use for holiday upcharges. For example, a sitter tried to upcharge me 100% for the entire week of October 11-17, for "Indigenous Peoples/Columbus Day". 7 days of doubled price. When I actually used one of their sitters for a holiday, I also didn't get a picture as requested the morning of the holiday, like I did every other visit, so I doubt they even showed up. Ultimately if you don't care about price at all it's probably fine, just use cameras to make sure they do what they say (which I do now). If price is an issue beware, as they leverage holidays and variable upcharge rates between different clients to gouge their customers. read more

Meowtel is cruel to their sitters. I was hospitalized for an emergency for 3 weeks for my disability and unable to contact the company as I had none of my belongings during a reservation. They sided with the customer and deactivated my account. Yeah, sorry for being ill and being hospitalized. You should have more empathy for your sitters. My sitter listing is called Feline Haven and I had wonderful reviews yet I was still deactivated. I was cat sitting for more than a year with Meowtel and had always felt supported by the team, but I'm really disappointed in them. Before I was hospitalized, I knew I was sick and could possibly be hospitalized so I arranged for another sitter to take over the reservation and even was going to drop off the keys to her. However, it was an EMERGENCY when it finally happened and I could do nothing. Sitters, don't get sick or have life problems if you don't want to be chased off by Meowtel. I sent emails and texts informing meowtel and providing proof that I was hospitalized as well, but apparently there's no sympathy for ill folks. Edit: Meowtel, please reach out to me and tell me what account violation there was as I was not previously informed what was violated. Thanks. I was only told about "issues" surrounding the reservations, but not explicitly told what they were. See emails attached. What findings were there? I truly doubt this company is that cold hearted and I thoroughly enjoyed my tenure here, so please do let me know. 2 cat sitters that Meowtel said were coming never showed up. The 3rd boy who was supposed to have experience with cats didn't have any. He said his family had 2 cats but seemed very indifferent seeing a ciuple of my girls. I was in a car accident and when i went to an ER i didn't know if they'd keep me or not so since my oldest is 20 yrs and needs fluids. I tried to show him how it's done and he seemed uncomfortable even trying to hold her. Tho he was quite pleasant he couldn't have any any hands on experience. Came home from the ER the same evening only to find bowls of food I clearly told him NOT to feed them filled up to the brim. I tried cutting ties with them but the had chared 3 separate amts already. They expected to pay for the 2 girls who never even showed up and a huge amt for this guy who had no idea about dealing/handling cats. Not sure but i think they charged me for for even calling them. Roughly $1,500+ for NOTHING. My bank told me to try work things out with them before they looked into it. Online they said they had closed ....permanently. My bank took their ridiculous off my statement. This place is located in San Francisco, halfway across the country from me. Just froming talking to the 2 girls and 1 boy that did at least show up they talked/texted as if they were in their teens. Over all I have had some very good experiences with them. I've met a couple very good pet sitters who treated my fur baby with care. I appreciate that. I've only had 2 bad experiences with pet sitters and I've booked a lot. I would say they should either train or screen a little better. Most of the pet sitters know what they are doing and are responsible but as with any place you're always going to have a few bad apples. But it's not something we want when we invite a stranger into our home to take care of our little family members. That said, the thing that needs the most improvement too is the app and web site. The system is slow and messaging doesn't work efficiently. You end up needing to get their cell number. So if you're trying to monitor what you're employees are saying to clients you should fix that. The concept is good and the over all service is convenient. It just needs a few adjustments to bring it to the next level and to make it more enjoyable for the customers. read more

Let me start with the obvious: no, this service is not inexpensive. But know how they say you get what you pay for? Denice was our first sitter for the cats after moving to our house and losing our neighbor as a sitter so I was nervous. Our cat Cooper needs meds twice a day, so we asked Denice from JFC to medicate him, feed him and his brother Moody, and check on them twice a day over Thanksgiving. Twice a day I was texted photos of the boys, videos of them playing and being petted, and a report on how they were doing. For EVERY VISIT. What a JOY to know they were so loved and well cared for. So many services seem oriented around dogs that I was concerned our cats would get minimal attention. Not only did Denice take excellent care of them, she loved on them and sent me videos of them purring while she petted or held them. The litter was pristine when we returned and all litter tracked out of the box had been swept. Needless to say we asked specifically for Denice for Christmas. If you love your cats and want someone who will love them too, JFC is the service you need. The peace of mind we got was immeasurable. THANK YOU! read more

The worst. I've used them twice and both times the sitter cut each and every visit short. I paid $71 per 45 minute visit- yes you read that correctly - and they cut 1/3 of the visit off each time. Neither of them played with the cats or even touched them. And knowing they were on camera, they still left early as if that's what they always do without consequence. TOTAL RIP OFF. read more

Dehbra is a God-send. I'm able to travel often, and sometimes for long stretches, and rest assured that not only is my cat safe but also happy. Dehbra is super responsive and very experienced with kitties. She really understands my cat's nature and also the mindset of a pet owner who is away. She sends lots of photos each sit. Many of Dehbra's photos are some of my favorites of my cat, some are so "Instagrammable" and she captures expressions that I never can! I always come home to a clean and happy cat and home (especially the litter box, food bowls, water fountain, and sinks!). Dehbra is a top cat pro. My cat and I just adore Dehbra! As for Just for Cats - the reservations team is always on top of things. Their online scheduling and payment portal is easy to use and I always get a helpful reminder of upcoming sits and confirmations. I recommend booking holiday sits early. I have and was able to always have Dehbra. Just for Cats is a bit expensive on paper but I think is well worth the money because they focus just on cats. That sounds straightforward, but I had previously gone through a service that specialized in dogs and as a minor part had sitters who also took care of cats. I knew that other service wouldn't do when the other sitter, who was nice and all, asked me how often I walked my cat. You can imagine my relief when I found Just for Cats. When I started with them, I really appreciated the onboarding process. They had a meet and greet at my home, a checklist of where I keep supplies, vet info, etc. They are a team of true animal lovers - they require that you email or text when you arrive home to your kitty as a safeguard for the cat. Recently moved to LA and was so stressed about finding a new cat sitter (because I really am a crazy cat mom). I feel so lucky to have found JFC! Everyone who works there is incredibly kind, from the schedulers to the sitters, and my two cats are basically in love with the two sitters who have met them. While you're away, the sitters send lots of photos and nice updates to put you at ease. And you can really tell how much the sitters love animals and really take care of them. They always listen to me and ask lot of questions about my kitties routines so they can make sure they get everything right. Also, though not always possible, obviously, they really try their best to accommodate last minute requests, which was a godsend for me when I had a last minute trip come up recently. When I come home now from a trip it's like my cats didn't even miss me that much, because they got plenty of food and playtime. Pros: I found an amazing cat sitter through their app. I hope she leaves them and books on her own someday. Cons: the cancellation policy is theft. It makes absolutely no sense that if you cancel within 48 hours you have to pay for the ENTIRE RESERVATION. Even if it is weeks long! The lady on the phone tried to suggest it's "no different than an airline." What a comical response. Well of course it's different than an airline, an airline it doesn't matter when you cancel--you pay a cancellation fee, and then you get a credit to rebook with. And with COVID, airlines have eliminated those fees so it is actually nothing like an airline. It's also nothing like a hotel. If you cancel a hotel within a certain time frame (generally 24 hours or even less) you pay the first night rate, because that's the only night you are within the 24 hour period for. Can you believe if hotels charged you for a multi week long stay if you cancelled??? It would be lunacy. I let them know my fiancé and I had COVID and therefore wouldn't need the sitter because we wouldn't be able to spend Christmas with our families. No compassion was shown. Disgraceful. read more

Erica was fine getting along with my cats but she was completely negligent in their care! After going over detailed written instructions at the meet and greet one week prior, and leaving them to refer to, this is what she did... day one, assumed leftover sitting wet food meant they were fed, she admitted to fluffing it up and not giving them a fresh can. She also assumed that their water was replaced. It was not ,and she thought it was perfectly okay to leave it. I gave her my phone number and instructed her to text me with any questions, she didn't. She offered to come and feed my cats whenever they were used to eating which was 8-8:30 am then again 5-6pm. She agreed to this.After her second day morning visit ,she informed me through text that she had an event at 5 and couldn't be there that evening until around 7-8. I wasn't happy about it but I was already gone and what choice did I have. (p.s. at our meet and greet just a week before there was no mention she had these plans.) If I had known I would have chosen a different sitter. That evening, when I didn't get a notification that she arrived, I texted her to ask when she was going to be there! (it was already after 8)no response... 45 minutes later she texted me "not to be upset" . Too late...My cats had already gone 13 hours without food) She said she was at a party and it just ended. She was another 30 min away. She didn't show up until 9:15! I called support at Meowtel(who were very supportive), and they arranged for a different sitter to take over. Once Erica was told that I no longer wanted her to care for my cats, she dropped everything, left dirty bowls in my sink and left . She didn't stay more than 15 minutes. I was in Mexico celebrating my 35th wedding anniversary and I had to deal with this for 3 hours. It ruined our evening! I will never use her again. Nothing worse than not be able to leave your babies with peace of mind. Instead of apologizing she texted me that she hopes my cats and my home will be ok! WHATT? My home?Is this a threat? Don't use this company! I hired a cat sitter..she spent two hours at my home visiting with my cats and loved them! I paid her in full! After a great 2 hour visit with her interacting with my cats and myself..all was great! The next day she decided to cancel my reservation for 17 days saying she changed her mind! I was astounded! I spoke to 2 people at the meowtel and explained what happened in detail! They sent me an email saying they appreciated my feedback and would look into this inappropriate behavior. That their team will follow up with their procedures and take the appropriate actions. The cat sitter misrepresented herself, she wasn't a professional! Two different staff members agreed with me! When I tried to log into my account but I wasn't able too! Shortly after several attempts to use my e-mail address which said 'couldn't be found'.. I received a notice stating that I wasn't allowed to use them and terminated my account! The message read that I violated their harassment policy! Omg! They're two faced and pretend to be on the customers side, when in FACT they use any negative issues against you! read more

Good experience in the past but the sitter I used in the past doesn't seem to be available now (and I've tried multiple months and dates). I only used her 6 months ago. When I booked a new sitter, she couldn't take the job. The company didn't refund my money. Said they were issuing me a gift card credit. Nonsense. You have to ask for your money back even if your sitter cancels or they just keep the funds and give you a credit. Bad practice. I've been using Cats 90210 for most of this past year (I tend to go out of town about once a month) and have always had excellent experiences. I'm a bit of a Type A professional and am additionally overprotective of my cats (one of whom is pushing into the Gandalf the Wizard zone of old), and I have never once had a single problem (even a slight problem that you think of, but never actually bring up) with Rita's team. I've leaving LA and am scheduled for my last sitting next week and thought that I should really give Rita and her great team some overdue praise. PROs - 1) TRUST IN THE SITTER: I used another service (see my previous review if you are curious) a few times when I first moved to the city (and I didn't have any complaints), but ultimately, I wanted a service where I knew who would be taking care of the cats each day and there would be a consistent "sitting" presence. I feel more secure knowing that the sitter can tell if something is off. My cats have been "seeing" Adam and they seem to be doing well with him. 2) TRUST IN THE WORST CASE SCENARIO: My cat is very old and I'm always worried that he will have a problem/accident or pass away while I'm gone. Having a small team led by Rita (who doesn't actually live here anymore, I think, but runs it from afar with her second-in-command, Melanie) makes me feel more secure that if something were to happen, they'd do the responsible and right things for us. Also, Rita (and Melanie, I'm sure) is incredibly knowledgeable about the local vets. After using her services, she gave me a great recommendation for a vet in the area which whom I've ended up having good luck. I feel like they actually care about you and your cat(s), and that is important to me. I had to cancel scheduled sitting at the last minute because my cat got very suddenly and seriously ill and Rita was very supportive. 3) EXCELLENT SITTING SERVICES: The sitter comes once a day and goes through my feeding instructions I've left (and medication) as well as cleans up the litter boxes (including sweeping up litter) and gets the mail. I ask that he sends pictures to me daily and they are pretty cute. Who doesn't want to see five pictures of your cats every day you are gone? It is very reassuring and something I'd probably ask for in the future in my new location. 3) CONVENIENT PAYMENT SYSTEM: Payment is through an automated system, which I find particularly convenient. You get invoiced once Rita confirms with the sitter and you can even see the scheduled visits on the calendar. CONS -- 1) COST: Working with Cats 90210 costs more than other companies that offer the same quality of basic sitting "service." That being said, I think it is worth the money to pay more for having 1) and 2) above. I can't think of any other "cons" as I've had an outstanding experience with the team. I'm very sad to be leaving Los Angeles because now I'll have to hunt again for a good cat sitting team. I'd highly recommend this service for the well-cared-for cat. UPDATE 9/20 Now that I have less-than-ideal cat sitting in my new location, I thought of one more thing I miss -- the fact that Rita and your sitter always check to make sure you get home. I can't say enough good things about my sitter, Cyanne, and the Just for Cats Pet Sitting service in general. It's very convenient to be able to request sitter dates through the website, and get confirmation of payment through e-mail. Also convenient to be able to pay invoices online, get e-mail confirmations, have a record of invoices etc. It makes going on vacation and making sure my kitties are set up ahead of time very easy and pain-free. And Cyanne goes above and beyond with my two young cats! I get texts and pictures every time she visits, and my cats look extremely engaged and playful with her in the photos. I told her that usually when I get home from being away, they are bursting with energy and jump all over me and won't let me sleep... the last three times Cyanne has sat for them, I get home and they're usually sleeping, tired out from all of Cyanne's play, and not crazed for attention. This gives me great relief, since sometimes they fight with each other when they don't have someone playing with them and getting their energy out. Cyanne also does a great job keeping their food and litter areas neat, so I'm not coming back tired from traveling to cleaning duties. From the moment I spoke to Melanie at Cats90210, I knew they were the ones to take care of our cat. They only deal with cats and they LOVE them!! It's so apparent that they take a lot of pride in their service and they adore kitty cats. Rita is the owner and took all of my information after Melanie took the initial call. Rita is super thorough and makes sure you understand everything. She is a cat expert and a super nice person. She checks all the backgrounds of the cat sitters, and unlike the other services out there that may be slightly cheaper, they do not send a different person every day to your house. This was massively important to us! You get a sitter assigned (Adam!! who is AWESOME!) and they are the ones coming to your house each day. I met with Adam in advance and he got to meet our cat and see the layout of the house, etc. They will even set your mail aside and water any plants - how awesome is that!? I felt so confident that I could trust him with our favorite little buddy and our home. What a great feeling. You can pay electronically or leave a check. Don't trust this place!! I have never been scammed in my life. I called their phone number, A lady named Barb called me, we talked for awhile going over everything!! I was very clear about what I wanted, a sitter no more than every other day. Later that day, I met Lisa Feldman, who came to my home. Once again, I was very clear about the days.. I told her in person, in a note and texts. I tried to pay before I went out of the country to Mexico, but they were closed on the weekend. The moment I gave them my card, they changed me for a week. After being shuffled from Barb, to Micky to the worse one Rita.. I was told they have to come every day, that's the only way they work. Remember!! No one told me this.. Lisa Feldman should have refused the job, knowing that I didn't need or want someone at my house daily. Also, if I was told, I would have gone with another service. While, I'm in Mexico Rita the owner and Lisa Feldman the cat sitter, refused to leave my home regardless of my wishes...I was held hostage, being out of the country having this stranger in my home on unauthorized days..Rita called me a liar, claiming I knew their rules and Lisa Feldman lied about my place not having food, for my cats when she showed up..Lisa Feldman and Rita did nothing to make this right..Not any apology, discount, nothing.. I didn't go on their site to hire them, I called..I didn't sign anything, or verbally agree to anyone ever coming to my home daily!! I have numerous emails, text and proof that they are liars...The owner called me names and had the ordasaty to accuse me of things that, just are not true..I absolutely, have a hard time believing that any of these good reviews are valid! Anyone that want's to truly see what they are really about, please reach out to me..I will show you every email, text, and my letter stating my wishes.. I would not be writing this long review over two unauthorized days, and around 80.00, let alone, would I have put myself through all this stress, if I wasn't telling the truth.. I have used Just for Cats twice, and I have just been thrilled with their service. The company is friendly and very responsive when I contact them about sitting, key changes, etc. My kitty is VERY shy and usually never comes out for anyone (save myself and my husband). While she was wary the first few days away, she eventually came out for our sitter (Pam) and that made me extremely happy and relieved. Pam would text me updates and pictures throughout the visit so that I could get a sense of how the visits were going. Benefits of Just for Cats for cat-sitting needs: you get the same sitter every time, they work with cats exclusively, they are extremely responsive to questions/concerns, you can pay online, all the sitters love cats and treat them like they were their own. The only con I think of is they are slightly pricey, but I'm ok with that given that I know my kitty is safe and happy. It's well worth the money, in my opinion. Highly recommended! Update: I feel compelled to post an update. I was planning on going on another trip and had scheduled Pam at Just for Cats to take care of my cat. Unfortunately, my cat became very ill and I had to change the days of my trip in order to take care of my cat. Pam and Just for Cats were simply wonderful - they were so understanding about the situation and took fantastic care of my kitty while I was (briefly) away. Just for Cats is worth more to me than what they charge, because they truly care about the clients, our cats. Margaux, our sitter, has a huge heart and I trust her judgement completely. I honestly can't think of traveling now, unless I can reserve Margaux's time for Kimmy. I highly recommend Just For Cats to anyone who wants the best care for the furry members of their family. It makes sense to hire caring professionals who can give you peace of mind when you have to be away. read more

I'm going to be honest, I was terminated because this company likes to pretend to be families to catch you to see if you break their rules. Who does that? They contacted me acting as someone who needed a cat sitter said they'd pay me a certain amount (I agreed) but when it came to meet in person I was going to explain in detail that there is a system to follow. Anyways ok I get it I accepted their offer however what they do is just cruel. And get this when I asked for more details about things they said "we can't do it anymore because their brother got covid" sick company. Oh and they blocked my number when I only called them once and blocked me on Facebook because of a negative review. Unprofessional. Laugh at the review too it is hilarious I guess. read more
