Let me first say that this has been my go to store for the last 16 years. I've wathced it go through 3 renovations. The last one was only a few months ago, and in my opinion not a very successful one. Even though the store now has become both bright and appealing to the eye, the layout is really really bad. It is literally a maze where nothing longer is where it's supposed to be. People are walking around in circles trying to find everyday items. Ending up spending a lot longer in the store than before (and not necessarily buying more, which I guess must have been the reasoning behind this epic store design f*** up). To make matters worse the sortiment has gone down conciderably. It wasn't great to begin with, but now it's just sad. Meny claims to be a premium store (the prices certainly reflects that) in an affluent part of Oslo, and so you would expect it to be flush with stuff you wouldn't necessarily find in your everyday Kiwi or Rema, right? Wrong, not only is the sortiment scraped down to the bare minimum (a compromise I assume, in order to create the minimalist feel and look), but the replenishing of said sortiment is slow, and this has been a problem for years. Yes, it's a nice store and you'll find the basic necessities here, but for the price level I expect more. I for one have started shopping at Coop Extra Bislett instead. Half the retail space but with a larger sortiment (ok so it's a little more cluttered, so what?) and the prices are, although not cheap, more in sync with the actual shopping experience. read more
