Before the overthrow of the Tech Empire, this place was the tech empire. I came here many times as a kid during school as well as during the summer break. I found many of the things that I loved in these books, as well as the peace of mind of knowing that there is a quiet place to study. I came here sporadically throughout my high school and undergraduate years. It continue to be a safe haven for students. This is the first time that I have been back in more than 10 years and is still the a pitta me of what a library is and what it should be. I love all the changes that have been made to open up more spaces for people to study and get work done. I am surprised that no one has posted a yelp page about this place. It sits nestled in menlo Park's trees and when you want to take a quick break from studies, there is a beautiful outdoor arrangement of plant life and ponds. Of course there is very little that librarians can do with managing everyone that comes in, because there were quite a few people taking phone calls in the middle of the library as though it were their personal office. This is unfortunate because this is a place of study and not a place of business. Take your phone calls outside and do your virtual meetings outside or away from places where people are obviously taking in the advantage of a quiet place. Other than that, and aside from nostalgia, I love coming to study here. Also, if you do get hungry, this place is only a few hundred steps away from some good food in downtown Menlo Park. There's even a boba spot near the laundromat just a few minutes down the road. If you are feeling adventurous, the train takes people as far up as San Francisco and as far down as San Jose. If you are looking for a quiet place to study, or if you have been caught in a heat wave, this is the place to go. Not only is it filled with books that are still very relevant, it is a San Mateo County cooling station. Keep up the good work, Menlo Park. I hope that this place is around for years to come so one day my children might be able to enjoy this place as well. read more
