Today was a Sunday and I was excited to see they were open till 345p. I already had recyclables separated. The guy helping me was super nice and quickly weighed my three loaded trash cans. I asked if the recycle used batteries, but they do not. Still great they take many other materials including cardboard. The cashier was very friendly as we bonded over the time change. If you get approached by a customer that claims they're in line, you can walk ahead of them if they're still getting junk from their vehicle. Don't let people bully you, just be cool and let the workers know what's going on. These workers are quick and not afraid to tell rude people to leave. Just be polite, to everyone, and make sure you sorted out all your recyclables. You get way more value out of recycling stuff here than you do behind Ranch Market. That is all.

How the employees handle the cans for you - no need to touch gross sticky bins or fight with bees & flies like you do at OC Recycling. OC Conservation Corps is so clean! There were about 3-4 employees helping customers, so the whole transaction was lightning fast! However, my coworker felt we were shortchanged for our four bags of cans. We later questioned whether we received a fair payout, especially compared to what other recycling centers might offer. I can't say for sure, but it may be worth checking current rates at other locations before cashing in. One word of caution: watch where you step! Well, I had held on to mine for several years, hoping that the hazardous waste folks would change their minds, to no avail. Then a postcard arrived from our trash company, CR&R listing nine hazardous waste drop offs, with MDS being the only one to accept smoke alarms. I did a Google map and headed on down. The receptionist was friendly and helpful and took those old alarms right away. Kudos to MDS for being willing to accept these items, especially since MDS is a commercial recycler. Their willingness to deal with Joe Public Small Fry is appreciated. And did I mention there was no charge?

We drove over and they helped us to unload the metal out of our truck and placed it on their scale and then we were given a receipt, walked over to the cashier to give our ID and get our cash out.
