Since Memphis is the 'town that time forgot' I suppose i should not
have been surprised by my experience riding out to FLASH ACK
on Central Ave in Memphis. (The trip to the MIFA store was
slightly less frightening.....). Apparently segregation still exists,
but on a reverse basis, because when I got on this bus (#2)
to get back to downtown Memphis (3rd and Adams)NO ONE
and I mean NO ONE even made any kind of move to give me
a seat,until finally a youngish male got up! What a pain.
And the looks from the other passengers as I sat down
would have made anyone else 'uncomfortable' but I was
more amazed and amused than........People need an attitude
adjustment if they dont realize the need for public transportation
is the only way to go-and while the driver at least wished me
a good day, she had no idea where "landis" was-which
is the actual stop for the Vintage Dept store (Flashback).
I'm not easily intimidated but I was really annoyed! For
shame! read more
