I was looking forward to this puppet show as they refer to it. It was creative, innovative and…read moreeducational. I loved the story they presented, the music was great and everyone loved the show. It's a little hairy getting to the actual location, as you have to walk along a very busy road on the UNC campus, and it's a narrow path to follow. I think they should figure out a safer way to enter the theatre, and they don't have safety railings on the steps getting in. But, I understand the theatre has been there a long time and I guess it works. Many of the puppets were ruined from the hurricane that came through here a few months back and a location near UNC volunteered to help rebuild the lost puppets and money was collected from the community. It's a wonderful example of community coming together to support such an amazing theater. I enjoyed the show and the interactive pieces were great for kids and adults.

If you love live music but aren't a fan of huge crowds and overpriced everything, this theater is a total gem. First off, the vibe here is just cool and intimate. It's one of those places where, even if you're sitting a bit farther back, you still feel close to the action. The acoustics were great, every note and every lyric was super clear, which really made the performance feel special. Muscadine Bloodline killed it, by the way! One thing I really appreciated: the whole experience felt easy and relaxed. Getting there was a breeze and there's a parking garage directly across the street, so no crazy searches for a spot or long walks in the cold/rain/heat. You can literally be inside the theater within minutes of parking. Inside, the concessions were surprisingly reasonable. I was bracing myself to pay $20 for a beer like most venues, but nope, drinks and snacks were actually affordable. It's a little thing, but it made the night even better. Being able to sit for the show was also huge for me. The seats were comfortable, with a good view from just about anywhere. I loved not having to stand the whole time or jockey for space. It's honestly the perfect size, big enough for a killer crowd atmosphere, but small enough that it's not overwhelming. All in all, the Carolina Theatre just nails it for live shows. Great music, chill atmosphere, reasonable prices, and zero hassle. Can't wait to catch another concert here!

While I love that movie, and generally the shared reaction from the crowd is what I love about the movie going experience, these people laughed WAY too hard at bits that had already been done a bunch throughout the movie. I think it was because they really wanted to have a good time, so they laughed harder than was warranted. That isn't the worst crime but just to give you an idea of the people who I assume frequent this establishment. I had the opportunity to attend their play called "A Trailer Park Christmas" ($23 per ticket) which is in its 8th year and is consider a local holiday tradition. I should first point out that this is a very causal theatre with a gravel parking lot and tiny lobby. Concessions were displayed on a dry erase board but well equipped with several types of beer and wine to include $3 PBR and $4 red and white wines. It has open stadium seating that can accommodate about 55 people and it's touted as "A small space where big things happen." I can't begin to tell you how much fun the show was. Lots of audience participation and they even passed out several snacks during the show. To include Doritos topped with canned easy cheese to go along with the trailer park feel. The actors are very talented and wonderful singers. I laughed so hard I peed a little and everyone is our group agreed to come back next year to watch the play again. If you are looking for a casual evening out I highly suggest CGT.

I saw one of the Paperhand Puppet shows there last summer - the great venue played a huge part in the surrealist entertainment of the show. I believe most of the shows at the Forest Theatre are coordinated by Playmaker's Repertory Company, but tickets are only sold at the door. Admission is usually $10 for adults, with a discounted rate for kids. The Forest Theatre is a beautiful place for weddings, as well.

I've sat in Orchestra, on the first floor, the grand tier, and the balcony and they've all been great. You can see everything. I have enjoyed every show I've ever seen here (Chicago, Wicked, Something Rotten) as well as concerts (Alison Krauss, Singer/Songwriter) to name a few. The employees are SO friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make sure you know where you're going and that you're having a good time. I'm always impressed with the customer service when I go. They have those Bavarian nuts that are so delightful and a bar with domestic beers and wines. Quite a few soda options to chose from as well. There is a parking deck right next to the venue and if you get there early enough you shouldn't have a problem. There are other parking decks in the area as well. There are numerous places to eat surrounding the DPAC, so many amazing choices. I would highly recommend buying tickets to see a show here and make an evening of it with one of the close by restuarants or bars. Downtown Durham has become utterly amazing!

I recently saw Theatre Raleigh's production of Bull Durham at the Reynolds Industries Theater. It…read moreis located on the top level of the Bryan Center at Duke University. The theater seats around 600 people. Accessible seating is located at the top of the venue. There are stairs to get down to the other rows. They are on the steep side and the heights of the steps are uneven but there are handrails on the two sides. I sat in the front row so I'd assume the slope makes all the rows have a good view as you shouldn't be looking at heads. I'd recommend checking the sports schedules before buying a ticket with the box office as if there is an event you cannot park in the nearby garage but need to park in a lot further away which makes finding the venue harder if you are not familiar with Duke's West Campus.

Allow plenty of time for parking, especially if other things are happening on campus. Seating in the theater is quite steep. There's a wide aisle that goes down the middle with no handrails, then more narrow aisles on each side that have handrails. Steps are uneven and you do have to be careful. Be careful where your seats are if you have special needs. We had front row seats, so exiting for the restroom meant climbing back up those stairs.

We tried a dance studio close to home, and while the people were friendly- I felt that they tried to pack too many dance forms into one class leaving the kids lacking in developing any real skill or retention, painfully obvious at the dance recital. Even though she turned 5 just after the deadline and was 4 in the 4's class for a very short time, I don't resent as the previous commenter does, this choice. Schools have to have a cut off somewhere, and I respect their decision. I am so pleased with the switch. My daughter is gaining skill and learning ballet consistently. The whole 45 minutes of her 4 year old class is ballet, and the kids have a higher retention because of the repetition and the dedication to just ballet during this time. The teachers are very skilled. TYB also does a great job incorporating their older dancers in with supporting younger classes. I am really happy with our time here so far and know my daughter will continue to grow in both confidence and skill here at TYB.

Came to Mettlesome last night for a show and had a great time!…read more Parking was easy because Mettlesome is part of the "Golden Belt Campus," which basically just seems like a bunch of buildings in a complex with a nice little outdoor area. The front of house staff were helpful and nice, tickets were very affordable ($8), and the theater also sold reasonably priced beer and wine. The show started on time and was entertaining! I was a bit surprised that there was a short intermission halfway through the show since it was only an hour long, but that may just be a unique part of the "Show and Tell" performance. Overall, I would definitely come back here - it was a lot of fun!
