Worst bank ever! I called customer service from the bank after the teller lied to me and told me…read morethat the 7 day hold was for my safety. Keep in mind this is a check from Carmax! The person at customer service said the teller was wrong and that the check would be deposited incrementally starting the next day. Guess what, no money had shown up in my account 5 days later! The funds availability act of 1997 stipulated that a 7 day hold on the full amount of the funds is only in the case that they think the check is fraudulent. I called customer service back, no help. Called the bank to speak with the branch manager, oh she's not available. Do not do business with this bank! Their customer service is non existent! They will lie to your face with a smile! If I could give them less than one star I would!

I had an overdraft for a payment that comes out of my account every month. The payment is 105…read moredollars and has been for two years. I fell short this month and I knew that I was going to be looking at an overdraft fee. Instead of them taking out the normal 105 that it has always been it was taken out in two payments. So I was charged two 36 dollar fees. Apparently Uber decided to take out .93 cents to verify my account afterwards, I was charged another 36 dollars. I have had no overdraft fees since 2017 and have banked with Pnc since 2012 and they still said they could not help me. I am also charged a fee of 7.99 every month just for having the account. This account used to be wonderful and now it seems they just suck money out of my pockets. I disputed the Uber charge and because Uber said they would be depositing two small amounts into the account to verify it, this was the only way to get the one 36 dollar fee refunded. I told them that I expected to pay one 36 dollar fee I asked them to look into my history every month. They told me they see that it is normally one charge but they said there is nothing they can do and I will have to pay both of the 36 dollar fees! What a scam! I am canceling this account and I would recommend Wells Fargo who offers a free account or several other banks I have looked at offer free accounts. Don't get ripped off.

Bottom line: I should've just gone with another bank long ago. Need to have a charge reversed that the seller or business didn't properly fulfill? Too bad. 9 times out of 10, you're on your own. I can't tell you how many times this establishment has told me that I'm not important to them by their actions (or lack thereof). It's rare that they accept your claim (even when it's painfully obvious you weren't at fault), and they will close your debit card for "fraud" even though no fraud has occurred using your debit card, leaving you without food or a way to get gas for a week. "Sorries" don't pay the bills. I don't use their interest rates for anything, nor do I use any of their other services, so I literally have no reason to bank here. And I pay $1 monthly maintenance for an account that the reps clearly don't even know how to perform maintenance on. Their processes are out of date, technology out of style (I have to mail my paychecks from Denver, Colorado to Hope Mills, NC for them to manually deposit instead of them just getting with the times and making mobile deposits available), and they're always "updating the website" at oddly inconvenient times, and you can't log in our access your information. Well, due to these reasons, in addition to my most recent conversation with their rep Sarah Lance, MLO #1223039, and her clear inability to properly process a claim, I will be promptly closing my account after 16 years. There are way too many options out there for me to be clinging to this outdated, dinosaur of an establishment. And more places that actually care. Goodbye, SECU!

Someone walked into a…read morebranch in Hope Mills, North Carolina and withdrew $750 from my checking account on Monday, and I'm in a different state. The signatures didn't match and they gave them the money. The Branch Manager, Tanya Jacobs there told me if I wanted any video footage I would have to get a subpoena. They weren't willing to even help. No disciplinary actions for the Tellers negligence either. Now it's Friday and I still have not got my money back. The Branch Manager here, Maggie Hernandez hasn't done anything all week to help this process along but said it could take 30-45 days. I highly advise you don't bank with them. They have no customer service, they don't cross train so if you need something and there is only ine person who can do it isn't there, you're out of luck. Horrible. The biggest thing is they don't care. No one should have to go thru this. All I have been given is lies and no effort to help resolve this on their end. It's my money and I shouldn't have to wait on them. RUN FROM THIS COMPANY
