With a funky outback theme you definitely feel like you're outside of the city in this awesome pub and the menu certainly matches with many kangaroo options included - even roo schnitzels are available! The prices are really reasonable - for both food and drink and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating - we were there on a busy long weekend and they went out of their way to make sure that we had a table. I ordered the King of The Mount Kangaroo Schnitzel with beetroot, salsa, cheese and pieces of lamb (crazy!) but delicious! I also sampled some of their yummy steak and a taste of the fiery spicy snitty! Almost a perfect score, if only the offerings in the salad bar had been a little nicer - and maybe a little more broad!

When it's busy, you'll need to book a sitting - either early or late (go for late because you have no set time to be out by and will be able to drink to your hearts content!) The veg and salad bar is fairly solid - not the most amazing, but not terrible either! Most recently i ordered a chicken snitty kilpatrick - it was huge and delicious! Prices are good too. Another handy thing to know is that you can take away drinks to take home from the front bar (as there is no separate bottle shop) - and the prices are pretty reasonable considering you're out in the country side!

The menu caters for all tastes ranging from schnitzels the size of a dinner plate including a squid schnitzel to awesome steaks, seafood and more. To top it off you can sit out the front and have a beer or two and admire an amazing view of Mt Remarkable. Situated in the beautiful town of Melrose it is a must for a stop over on your way to explore the Upper Flinders Ranges with multiple walking tracks and Mountain Bike tracks suitable for all standards to explore. The hotel was lovely and in an old building (which I love) and well maintained. We opted for the budget accom which included shared bathroom and toilets, which was no problems at all. It had everything we needed and was clean. There was a nice dog hanging around, who was friendly and quiet. Not too sure if he belonged to anyone or the hotel. In all, I would stay again if I can back to the area. Thanks
