My wife and I were married in Puerto Rico in November 26,2016. We hired Maria Rivera Berrios, AKA Melissa Rivera, to be our wedding planner. As part of a beach wedding Puerto Rico requires a beach deposit of $1600.00. We sent the money to Melissa on our behalf to make the payment.
The wedding itself went well.
After the wedding we expected to get an automatic refund of our deposit. When it was not forthcoming we contacted Melissa and she informed us that we had to go directly to the PR government for a return of our deposit. Sadly most of the people in government don't seem to speak English and with one exception were rather vague and unhelpful.
However, after persisting we were informed that Melissa Rivera, our wedding planner, had applied for a refund on December 21, 2016, a full 3 months before we asked her about the return of our deposit.
Ms. Rivera had applied for our refund months before we had inquired as to it's status. When we contacted her about getting our money back in 2018, as it took that long to work through the morass at the government agencies, she refused to acknowledge us nor refund our $1600.00. The government has confirmed she received the check on March 20, 2017.
We would not recommend her due to her lack of integrity and willingness to pocket our deposit even after we paid her for her services. DO NOT TRUST HER! read more
