I read previous review about being "talked into" getting wisdom teeth removed. Seemed very much like my first visit to this dentist (only reason I'm not with my previous dentist is because of insurance coverage changes). No other dentists have ever told me I needed my top two wisdom teeth removed, to include the dentist who removed my bottom wisdom teeth over 30yrs ago and every dentist in between. 1st time in this office and I am told they gotta come out. Set an appointment to meet with their oral surgeon to schedule/discuss the removal. Oral surgeon only worked in their office 1 day a week. Took off early for the appointment and believe it or not, they scheduled it for a day he was not there. Are you serious?? The biggest problem: (in agreement with most other reviews...) RUDE team member at front desk answering the phone. Save yourself the trouble. RUN elsewhere. read more

Stay far far away. This lady is a hack. Had a crown done... Took dental tech 6 tries and 90 minutes to get an impression. Dr Lee finally came in, berated her in front of me, said the last impression was good enough. Installed the crown a week later and it didn't fit right, she kept adjusting over 3 visits finally saying she couldn't do more. I began having sinus issues especially around my jaw and affecting my hearing. 3 months, 2 ENT specialists, 2 CT scans the diagnosis is that I have TMJ as a result of my bite being off. Currently I have 40% hearing loss, pressure in my head constantly, can't think, can't work.... And she's hounding for money while insurance company says balance 0. And the amount she's asking for is never the same... Poor bookkeeping and management. If I could give negative stars I would. read more

I am seriously so disappointed in this dentist and her complete lack of effort to right her wrong! Both of my sons have seen Dr. Lee for years, but the last few years, her business and customer service has drastically gone down! Back in May, my son woke up with a swollen jaw, I immediately call and she puts in a prescription for an antibiotic and gets him in for a full panel xray. Mind you, this is after we've been seen at least 5 times in the previous 2 months for a cap that repeatedly came off. I'm waiting and waiting for a call about the xray but I get nothing, so I call several times before I actually get through to anyone, and I am told that the full panel xray came back completely clear and that my son had absolutely zero infection in his teeth and that I needed to take him to his pediatrician. So we go to the pediatrician and start this super long process of tests to figure out what could be wrong with my son, and at this point, it's being called a tumor, and is 3.6 cm large. We had xrays, an ultrasound, a cat scan, an MRI, blood work done (repeatedly) a and a biopsy of the bone marrow in his jaw because they were concerned about cancer. When all tests come back negative, we go see a neck surgeon... This went on for 4 months, cost my over 2500$ dollars, so much time traveling to Sacramento, taking time off, missed school and of coursey poor son who has a giant tumor under his chin. As soon as we see the neck surgeon, he says, oh this is just a bad tooth, you need to see a dentist and get a root canal. I was floored.. That's where we started, but I was told the opposite by the dentist, I couldn't believe that this could have all been prevented if Dr. Lee just did her job in the first place! When I called to explain the situation and ask for an explanation, the office lady was extremely rude and basically said well what do you want me to do about.. Take your kid to the dentist.... WOW! I will NEVER take my son to this joke of a business and I wouldn't recommend anyone else either! I made the mistake of referring a friend and she was charged more than they quoted her abd then treated extremely bad when she asked for an explanation. I guess accountability isn't one of their strong suits! read more

I strongly suggest you choose another dentist. I HA had A root canal done by Dr. LEE 7 years ago and because of her shotty work I am having oral surgery on Wednesday to have it repaired and its costing me $2200. 7 years ago her response to my pain during her procedure was " I have had children react better during A root canal compared to you" Very rude and rough. Please consider another dentist or get out you money to have it fixed later read more

The worst, I truly believe she didn't really didn't want to help me at all. I had problems with my teeth after I had a stroke and went to see her and she told me you still have to brush your teeth. I have tried to take care of my teeth my whole life but some people just have bad teeth. She is rude and the only thing good about her office is the staff and her husband who comes in to do the surgeries. read more

Update. Went to my new dentist. He asked why I had left my previous dentist (Dr, Lee). I said I didn't want to say anything bad about another den. His response was no need, we are a small community. Again, save yourself some undue stress and SEEK TREATMENT ELSEWHERE. Look elsewhere for treatment. Overcharged for services. After three letters sent and multiple calls, I received a statement of services that was different from the original invoice by over $300. Myself and my kids had a hand full of cleanings here with no issues, also didn't have issues to deal with. They talked me into getting my wisdom teeth pulled and i finally decided to go ahead with it. first off the receptionist is the worst, she made no effort to get my authorization from insurance instead made me call my insurance with all the codes to get the information. which i work in the medical field and have dealt with authorizations so this was just laziness on her end. whatever I called and got the information. go in for the apt and she seemed to have forgotten all about me calling in for the information cause I had to retell her the whole thing. she takes my payment before hand and i head on back. the general surgon wasnt melissa lee and in fact he was very sweet. talked me through the whole thing. i left feeling as good as you can for getting your teeth pulled. went about my weekend then monday rolls around and my whole mouth is killing me. so bad im almost in tears. called the office and got the answering service, over and over. i know they were open why the phones were off who knows. tuesday i call and call for hours still only to get the answering service and they dont know why the phones are not on. so i load up my kids and drive over there cause at this point I cant take it. get there and the door is wide open with no one in sight. I call out for someone and no one. about 5 mins later the receptionist comes walking up like no big deal. now I'm beyond furious. I explain the pain and how I cant seem to get ahold of them. I demand to be seen and i finally get back there. well sure enough i have dry socket. dentist puts some stuff in it and tells me to come back next day. okay sure. wednesday rolls around go back to the office to get the dressing out which did help and as soon as she takes it out i can tell the pain will be back. well sure as shit later that afternoon my whole jaw is killing me. i call the office back and get the receptionist. ugh i cant explain how unprofessional this lady is. she goes on to tell me i can come back in but at this point im out of post op and it will be out of pocket!!! i was just seen this am in post op so how am i out of it now for the same issue! so i can come back in or she can call me in ibuprofen. Really I've been taking norco and thats not helping u think ibuprofen is going to help. The receptionist also stated that they have never had a patient come back with so many issues from wisdom teeth being pulled so it must be "Poor Post Op Care" so she's basically telling me I'm the reason why my mouth is still hurting! How does this receptionist still have a job! Dr Lee if you have employees like this working for you, it says a lot about you! I got so frustrated with her I just hung up. I will never ever go back there nor will my kids. I do not understand how businesses like this are still open! I have been going to this dentist for years. She has always been professional and courteous. She does not try to do unnecessary procedures and has never overcharged me. I'm not sure why there are so many negative posts about her, probably because most people only post negative reviews...but I encourage anyone in need of a dentist to make an appt with her. read more

I tried Melissa Lee. While leaving my office to go to her for the first time, I saw a coworker holding her mouth, saying she just returned from seeing a new dentist for the first time and she was hurting from a cleaning. I asked her who the dentist was and she said "Melissa Lee." I showed up and received a very rough cleaning from the hygienist, and reluctantly scheduled my next visit to give Lee and honest shake. I needed fillings re-done and later crowns. Over the next visits, the fillings were completed and then the crowns. On one of the visits, she was using a tool to get in between the new crown and the tooth next to it. It was like a small saw. She began to "saw" and turns out she was literally sawing the corner of my mouth. My face was bleeding. The next day, my temp crown fell out, which I know is not uncommon. I went in to have it reattached and they acted like I was being a nuisance. Six months later, I decided to switch to another established dentist after nursing a toothache. This popular dentist did a complete exam of my teeth and discovered the crown work was poor and left a significant gap, causing further problems. This dentist notified Lee of the issue and, as is common in dentistry, asked for Lee to reimburse my new dentist for the crown, thus leaving no further cost to me. Lee declined, stating if I wanted the crown fixed I needed to pay for it myself!! When my new dentist's office explained that it is only right that I not be charged, and that she make it right, Lee only agreed to not charge me for the crown fix if I went to her to do it. At this point, why would I want to have her do more work? Shortly thereafter, I received a bill stating "90 DAYS OVERDUE." This was the first bill we had received so we called asking what the bill was for and why they have not sent us prior bills. Lee's office said it was for the crown. When that did not jive, they said it is for a filling that had to be redone that my insurance did not pay for. We confirmed that they did not discuss this issue with me prior to doing to work nor did they attempt to obtain any pre-authorization from my insurance. When asked why, we were told, "If we tried to obtain preauthorization from insurance companies, we would be on the phone with them all the time." Doing poor dentistry and having little regard for your patients make for a poor practice. I will be working with my new dentist to file claims with the dentistry board. Don't let this happen to you. I am new to California. I went and had a cleaning at a different dentist, and decided to switch to Melissa Lee after I was referred by a customer. Me and my roommate both decided to move to Lee. Well, I had all my papers submitted to her office from the previous dentist and had an initial exam! She told me I needed two crown, but the rest of my teeth looked great. So I scheduled the crowns. Was at her office over two hours for the crown work. She put a temporary crown on that wasn't separated, but the two crowns were embedded together and I was told I couldn't floss until I got the permanents on. No big deal. Upon leaving, I requested some pain medicine, because I have had a crown before and it was murder... so I requested and she asked me what I would like. I said the only thing that really helps with my experience is Hydrocodone. She told me she don't prescribe that because of all the druggies around. I was kinda in shock (made me look and feel like a druggy). She then preceded to tell me that I might take 4 of the 15 prescribed, and could end up selling the rest.. I couldn't believe it- the dentist telling me crazy stuff like this. I kinda get it, because I've been in customer facing positions and I know there is a drug problem in Yuba City, but I am highly educated and have a good job and paid for my procedure all in one lump sum with an actual credit card- anyone should know I have my stuff together and not after drugs! She told me she would call something else in and would have it sent to the pharmacy of my choice, which I requested CVS in Marysville. I went two different times to get it filled and it was NEVER called in. Today has been 10 days since I have had the work done, and still in pain. I called 3 times last week to see or talk to dentist with no return calls. Two of the days the answering service answered and said "doctor is out, and left no contact information for an emergency". After my treatment I will be finding another dentist. My roommate had an appointment tomorrow, but just cancelled his appointments with her because of the inconsistency and problems I have had. She has lost two "paying" customers. The front desk girl (Talia) is super nice and understanding. read more

I went to Dr. Lee for a cleaning and checkup last summer. She told me a filling in a rear molar (which was installed in the 70's and never had a problem) needed to be drilled out. She drilled it out along with the whole back 1/3 of the tooth and installed a filling that was so high I couldn't close my mouth. Had to return to have her grind it down. Six months later the whole back 1/3 of the filling broke off and fell out while I was eating soup (Cream of Mushroom, no less). She reinstalled it (once again, leaving it too high) and six WEEKS later, despite my babying it to the point of never chewing on that side, the same part broke off and fell out again. When I called to explain that it had broken off again in the same place I was curtly told I would have to pay for a crown....for a tooth which had been fine before I came to see her. I was told it could not possibly be her fault. I cannot afford a crown right now and have been rendered unable to chew on that side of my mouth while the filling continues to crumble away. She is dismissive, rude, and aggressive and talks over you rather than listening to your concerns (she also has a habit of blaming her staff when things go wrong). She is extremely rough when working in your mouth--I found another review on a different website (unfortunately after the fact) which actually referred to her as "a butcher" when it came to her technique....I'm sorry to say I would agree. Save yourself the grief and find a GOOD dentist. And for goodness sake don't let her work on a child.... read more

Melissa Lee is a horrible dentist, that should not be treating children. I took my daughter in for her first year check up. I asked the dental assistant if I could have my daughter sit on my lap to calm her nerves, which the assistant agreed since she was shown this creepy looking hand puppet with huge teeth (it even creeped me out!). Anyway, as soon as the dentist walks in she tells me my one year old needs to be off my lap and on the chair by herself. Ok, the chair is huge but I stay near by. My daughter starts freaking out because she can't see me (Melissa's huge Head was in the way) and she kept showing her the creepy puppet. She then tells my 1 year old "You need to stop crying and screaming or you and your mom are going to have to leave!". REALLY? She's saying this to my one year old!!!!!! I told her to move because I was getting my daughter to which she answers she's not done yet! She was trying to prevent me from taking my kid! So I let her know that either she moves or I was going to MOVE HER! Needless to say, we never went back, but it was very difficult finding a dentist for my daughter. Of how bad she got with her anxiety most wanted to just sedate her to even check her. And at one of the last places we went one of the dental assistants asked me why my daughter was so scared and I told her she had a bad experience with an old dentist and she said "Let me guess, Melissa Lee?" Apparently she was an ex employee who said she left her practice because of how horrible she is! read more
