I've never been so compelled to write a review, but that just shows how strongly I feel about Dr. Mayes and her amazing team. This experience has completely reset my expectations for what a pediatric dental visit should be! From the moment we walked in, I was impressed. Within the first three minutes, my daughter was greeted warmly at the door, invited to play hopscotch on the carpet, and instantly lit up when she saw her favorite movie Encanto playing in the waiting room. (I'm still not sure if that was a coincidence or if they actually noticed the movie I selected on the pre-visit forms -- either way, it was the perfect touch!) We were there for about two hours, and most of that time was spent with the dental assistant, Adriana -- and honestly, she was incredible. She was so patient, kind, and made my daughter completely at ease. Adriana explained every step in kid-friendly terms, used creative distractions, and knew just when to bring out a little bribery to keep things fun and positive. It honestly felt like Miss Rachel had trained the team herself! Dr. Mayes spent about 15 minutes with us toward the end, which turned out to be the perfect approach. By the time she came in, my daughter was relaxed, confident, and ready for her exam. I left feeling so grateful -- not just for the quality of care, but for the way they made my daughter enjoy her dental visit. And for those reviews mentioning that Dr. Mayes was out-of-network and they didn't find out until arrival -- that was not my experience at all. I was informed upfront from the very beginning, and honestly, a little extra money for the experience is absolutely worth it. I have no complaints regarding the dentist care or the pleasant staff. But this dentist office is flat out expensive and overcharges in my opinion. $97 for 2 Bitewings so my son can hold his mouth open? Really? Those are $10 tops. Plus he told me he didn't even use bite wings his last visit. If you're ok with an expensive dentist to nickel and dime you and your insurance like many dentists do, they are at least a pleasant office for the kids. Personally, I'm done with large invoices from this office every 6 months for simple cleaning, fluoride, and bitewings that may or may not get used. It's disappointing. Don't confuse pleasant and nice for fair. This dentist is a shark when it comes to billing. read more

My son loves coming to the dentist. Honestly, I wish Dr. Melba would see adults because I kind of want to watch movies while I get my teeth worked on also! She is so gentle, so kind, so sweet and my son absolutely loves her. He also loves the rest of her staff and so do I. You can tell they love working with kids. The office is designed for and around kids. There's plenty of parking. "I love this dentist!" That is what I had to listen to for 20 minutes while I dropped my daughter off at school after her appointment. We've been coming here for more than two years for procedures big and small, and we absolutely love the doctor and her staff. They are clean, efficient and friendly, and are always looking out for the kid's best interest. The kids love going there as well. Between the sweet staff, the TVs, and the prizes, my kids don't mind dental checkups. We've had to do some major work after a previous dentist didn't do a stellar job, and even that went smoothly. They are also great with emergencies. My daughter knocked a tooth out at 5:45 on Friday (UGH!!!!) and by 6:30 PM they had looked at photos, given us a game plan and booked a Monday follow-up. My daughters first dental cleaning was today, she is almost 2 and I wanted her to be comfortable in a dental setting because she already has a fear of her drs office and knows it's time for shots. I am also a dental hygienist and searched high and low for a great Pedo office and I definitely found it. Dr. Mayes spent a great amount of time with my daughter today reenforcing oral hygiene instructions and making sure to answer any questions I had. I can't express enough how highly rated and recommended this dental office is. I was referred to this office by my general dentist. My son was in need of further dental evaluations and assessments, and this office was quick to squeeze him in. The receptionist was so compassionate and showed great empathy towards my every concern. First time visit for my 6 yr old daughter and 8 yr old son. They were conveniently scheduled at the same time. Clean facility designed with children in mind. Huge space with 2 separate treatment chairs so both had their teeth cleaned at the same time. My kids had xrays, cleaning, fluoride treatment and exam by Dr Mayes. It was my boys first time going to the dentist and I wanted it to be a good experience for them. My boys are 3 and 5 years old. I am so glad I picked Dr. Mayes pediatric dentistry. Her team was so friendly and my boys felt comfortable with them right away. My boys had X-rays taken, teeth cleaned, and a dental exam. They explained everything to the boys beforehand and let them pick their own flavors for the toothpaste. There are TVs on the ceiling with kid movies playing to distract the kids while getting their teeth cleaned. There's plenty of toys and books to occupy the kids while they wait. Afterwards my boys got to pick out a toy from the "treasure chest"for being so good. Dr. Mayes was very friendly and answered all my questions and concerns. She is very knowledgeable. The only complaint I have is that now 4 yrs later I start to question why every time I take my daughter its at least fifty dollars, I come to find out when I question why the girls inform me that this Dentist is not in my network! Dr. Mayes and her staff are amazing! The day of our first appointment they greeted my son by name as we came through the door. The ladies in the front of the office are friendly and attentive. The hygienists and assistants are remarkably patient with nervous children and work with them as much as necessary. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Mayes. Parents are even invited to watch the exams if they want to and Dr. Mayes gives thorough explanations to the parents. And then there's the office itself. There are numerous ways for children to be entertained while waiting and distracted while in the chair. They keep a point system so kids can take home a prize today or save their points for something bigger. As what the other dad said, yes, they made it so hard for new patients to be seen because they have a lot of restrictions. I called in the beginning of summer and gave all my info to check on my insurance (which most dentist can do that in minutes) and I was told that they will call me back in a week or less but in the meantime to make an appointment (lots of restriction with day and time) which I did but wasn't sure if I can make it since it's 2 months from that time but I was told it shouldn't be filled up much in a week. I gave them a call after a month of waiting and yes they finally have the answer from my insurance carrier (I was also told that even if my insurance covers twice a year check up with no time frame but sometimes the insurance just change it to every 6 months, to prevent billing problems, they don't wanna see us early, which is kind of insulting, kinda my insurance is good but it can go bad). When I was asking them if I can change my appointment at least before the school starts is that, fortunately I can reschedule it but they just don't have any availability for my kids. If they had called much earlier as promised, I have a higher chance of getting a better time and availability. I asked to obtain Dr. Mayes' email but they told me that I can email her and her husband Jeff at info@doctormayes.com and they do respond and check it diligently and that they are on top of things. I e-mail them twice, it's either they didn't read it, didn't see it or doesn't even bothered by it. I even told Dr. Mayes in my letter that I am very impressed of her and she must be good that her schedule gets filled up fast and that my kids lost opportunity for them to be seen, but she has a very bad receptionist at that time. I just wanted to remind her an important thing she most likely knew already, that is, your front office can make or break your practice. I guess they need to re-train them on customer service which all establishments are into it nowadays. read more
