I've been seeing Dr. McKiernan for several years, and I can honestly say that she is the best primary care physician I've ever had. Increasingly negative experience with her. I saw Dr McKeirnan for 5 years. She seemed great at first before I had real health issues. As I've been advocating for my health I have experienced from her a couple of backhanded comments, mental health discrimination and ordering the wrong blood test. read more

She thinks I need a mammogram even tho I had total mastectomy on both sides 23 years ago and no other dr has suggested one since then. I was extremely disappointed in my new patient appointment with this MD. It took me 5 months to get an appointment. It was obvious that this doctor did not take a few minutes to look at my health history before entering the room; she did not know my major medical history (heart disease, cancer). I felt that this doctor was very short and judgmental. This is especially disappointing as I'm an RN and I've never been treated so disrespectfully and rude by a doctor! She refused to renew a prescription that I had been taking for several years and for which no previous doctors had a problem prescribing me. When I asked for alternatives, she offered none; she stood up and walked out of the room. I would not recommend this MD to my worse enemy. I would recommend looking to San Luis Obispo for a more qualified MD. I will be finding a more experienced and compassionate Primary MD. read more

Why have a medical assistant if they don't do their job? Left messages for 3days with Machaela not very helpful to get a new Prescription re-filled. Then when I called back she hung up on me. I was simply asking how many times do I need to call to get a prescription re-fill? If you don't like your job maybe you need to find other work. read more

I received a letter from her office stating that they accidentally gave my medical records to another patient. The patient called and told them about it after having that information for three days. I would not go to this office. read more

I find the negative reviews on this site pretty hard to believe. Not questioning people, but my experience was nothing like theirs. The office staff was polite and efficient. I was called back right on time. The nurse assistant was friendly. I only had to wait a couple minutes before the doctor came in, and I have had to wait in that room a while in other offices. Dr. McKiernan did not seemed rushed at all. She was thorough and friendly for my new patient appointment. Not much else to say. read more

Have been dealing with this doctors office for over a month now as my father has been very ill. They have been a nightmare with their communication. We've called over 5 times this past week to find out if we need to refill prescriptions and consistently get, "We'll look into it and call you back". No answers in a week! On Thursday, August 29th I saw Dr. Megan McKiernan in Los Osos, CA. This Doctor is terrible!!!!! It took three months for me to get into see her. By the time my appointment arrived, I was desperate for help. I had been experiencing excruciating intestinal pain and thought that I should have an over-all check up because it had been over a year since my last physical. Dr. McKiernan was rude, condescending and unprofessional. I sat in the exam room with tears in my eyes describing the excruciating pain I was experiencing. And she actually said to me, "What do you want me to do?" My reply, "HELP ME!" She literally rolled her eyes. She never even examined me. She just sat in a chair typing in notes and occasionally tossing a patronizing glance my way. When I expressed concern that my health was seriously deteriorating... She said, " I can see that. What do you want from me?" When I told her that I had fainted from pain three times in the past month, that didn't seem to matter to her. I asked her if she didn't think it was of concern that I am 5'8" and weigh 95 pounds...... SHE SAID NOTHING! I left her office feeling that I had just experienced the most surreal episode of my life. She did give me a referral for a Gastro/Intestinal specialist. Hopefully, I will get the help I need from them. I still need to find another general Doctor.... One that actually cares about practicing medicine. Please do not waste your time, money or health on seeing this Doctor. This woman should not be allowed to treat patients. read more

If there was a -5, I would have given this individual that ranking.. I waited nearly a month and a half for a new patient appointment; that's not even the complaint! I'm sad I waited that long to see someone who wasn't even worth the wait! The entirety of my visit she was fidgeting in her seat and was quite literally scoffing in annoyance towards me when I would say anything. She repeated twice during our talk that she "basically isn't feeling into this appointment and that she can't focus on me or just the day in general.." she told me that I should just go see another physician and that she flat out told me I am opinionated, even though I wasn't giving it out! I told her I have no idea why she is saying this to me and that nowhere in our conversation I told her how to do her job. She was giving me very curt responses to everything I said. All I did was tell her my history and she would say, well that was 15 years ago, or no one dies of a heart attack at 30 and looks at me like I'm an idiot.. (this was after i merely mentioned my family history) I was seriously so surprised and hurt at her annoyance at me when I did nothing to her. I was only trying to explain who I am and what I have been going through.. this person is not a qualified doctor. I feel like she just doesn't want to do her job.. wouldn't mind just skating by. If you have a health concern, see someone else. Don't come to her, she may brush you off like she did me... entering her office is inconvenient for her. read more
